Unibet Increase Guarantees and Lower Fees With New Player-Friendly MTT Schedule

We often hide behind the old adage that ‘if it’s not broken, don’t fix it’ in order to avoid potentially damaging a satisfactory status quo by making changes. However, such an approach can lead to stagnancy and, moreover, progress can never be achieved by fearing change. The world of poker – particularly online poker – is constantly in a state of flux, and history has shown that failing to acknowledge this truism can lead to trouble. Unibet should be commended, therefore, for instigating a complete overhaul of its weekly tournament schedule. And, it should be pointed out, this was already a popular and successful set-up, so all the more praise is deserved for this move by Kindred’s online poker brand, which has established itself as a leading player in recent years.

The host of changes will come into effect on 24 October. In the meantime, here’s a taste of what’s to come. First, guarantees will be significantly increased, so whereas thus far the biggest daily tournament has had a guarantee of €4K, the new schedule will feature prize pools of €5K, €6K and €10K. In tandem with this increase comes a decrease in fees, making Unibet’s tournaments arguably the cheapest around in terms of fees.

The Importance of Recreational Players

Unibet understands the importance of recreational players, and it’s with this in mind that changes are being made. For example, they aim to finish daily majors by 1am CET/CEST. Additionally, there’ll be more bounties and less add-ons. The reasoning behind the latter element is based both on the tendency of recreational players to not realise the value in taking the add-on and the fact that the format encourages players to max late reg, which can effectively mess up the tournament dynamics, particularly for lesser experienced players.

Here’s a selection of tournaments to look forward to:

  • The Title Fight - a daily €10,000 GTD PKO with a €50 buy-in
  • The Ironman – a daily €2,500 GTD Deepstack with a €10 buy-in
  • The Slobberknocker – a Thursday exclusive €7,500 GTD Bounty tournament with a €100 buy-in
  • Fight Club – a Supernova running exclusively on Sundays, with a €10,000 guarantee and €100 buy-in

Last but by no means least is Unibet’s celebrating their first major overhaul in five years with their biggest ever MTT promotion that will pay out €100,000 via 10 weekly leaderboards. There were already countless reasons to play at Unibet, and with the latest player-friendly tweaks and increased prize pools in place, there’s no excuse to not have Unibet as one of your favourite online poker rooms.
