Poker Q&A: Freerolls for US Players and Rakeback for Regulars

Hi everyone! Max here from PokerListings, the person who replies to your emails and messages in our live chat. The last time I answered your questions was back in October, and since then a lot has happened here at PokerListings, so let’s catch up!

First, we’ve scheduled a test freeroll for US players that will take place at Stake.US, a sweepstakes-based poker room operating legally in most US states. The tournament password will be posted on our Instagram channel. Follow us there to get access to freerolls on Stake and WPT Global.

Second, we’re preparing some exclusive offers for regular players, especially those grinding limits around NL50. We’ve got something special for you: solid rakeback, personal support, discounts on poker software, and even help setting it up. Right now, we’re still in testing mode, which means we’re working extra hard.

Third, if you have your own traffic source, such as a poker website, Telegram channel, or social media audience, we can offer you strong affiliate deals across many poker rooms. Tell us what type of deal you’re interested in (CPA, RevShare, or Hybrid) and which markets you focus on, and we’ll assign you a personal manager to provide everything you need.

With our deals, you’ll earn more, and we’ll represent your interests directly with the poker rooms. Contact me at [email protected].

James from the USA asks:

James

I’m from Washington State. I’ll be visiting Vancouver for about 10 days — will I be able to play online poker while I’m there?

Hi James! Yes, you’ll be able to play online while you’re in Vancouver. We have a page with details about poker in British Columbia.

There’s regulated poker available locally, you can play legally on the PlayNow platform.

2. Pocket Queens vs. Queen-Ten in a Preflop All-In

Phil from Australia asks:

Phil

What are the odds of queen-ten beating pocket queens?

In Texas Hold’em, pocket queens are a huge favorite against a hand like queen-ten offsuit in an all-in preflop situation. Statistically, QTo wins about 10% of the time and loses around 88% against QQ.

You can check any matchup using our Poker Odds Calculator.

3. Flip & Go Millionaire Tactics

Sareteus from Germany asks:

Sareteus

Hi, what would you recommend — entering the Flip & Go Millionaire with one buy-in or five buy-ins? Which option is more profitable?

In my opinion, this format is designed mainly for recreational players, so it’s unlikely to be profitable long-term or a realistic path for professional play.

With five buy-ins, you’ll have more flexibility (you can choose the best of several starting hands), but it puts extra pressure on your bankroll. With one buy-in, it’s basically pure push-or-fold luck.

If you’re playing just for fun, go with five buy-ins. If you care about profitability, stick to regular MTTs instead of these promotional, high-variance formats.

4. Split Pots in Texas Hold’em

Omid from England asks:

Omid

If there’s a three-of-a-kind on the board and the two remaining players both have high cards — one a king and the other an ace — who wins the hand?

In Texas Hold’em, each player makes the best possible five-card hand using any combination of their two hole cards and the five community cards. A player can even use none of their hole cards if the board already forms the best hand.

In your example, both players share the three-of-a-kind on the board. Their remaining cards (kickers) decide the winner.

For example:

1) Players hold K-8 and A-8, and the board is 7-7-7-2-3

  • One hand: 7-7-7-K-8
  • The other: 7-7-7-A-8

→ The player with the Ace kicker wins.

2) Players hold 2-3 and 3-4, and the board is 7-7-7-A-K

→ Both make 7-7-7-A-K → Split pot.

5. Is PokerStars Scamming Me?

Russell from Finland asks:

Russell

Why is my account being investigated right after my deposit? It feels like you’re scamming me — you let me deposit but not play or withdraw.

Hi Russell, it’s Max from PokerListings.

Sorry to hear about your issue with PokerStars but please note that this is PokerListings support, and we don’t have access to PokerStars accounts or internal systems.

Most poker rooms, including PokerStars, may temporarily freeze new accounts after a deposit to complete identity (KYC) or payment verification. It’s a standard security procedure, not a scam — once verification is complete, access is usually restored.

Unfortunately, we can’t assist directly with their review process, but if you’d like, I can help you find another reputable poker room where you can play without delays. If you’re interested, just message me.

6. Limit Hold’em Audio Book

Rick from California asks:

Rick

Do you know where I can find an audiobook on Limit Hold’em?

Check out this classic Limit Hold’em: Advanced Players Edition, available as an audiobook on Amazon.
