Full Review

Unibet Poker is one of the more well known European poker rooms, starting out on the 24hPoker network before switching to Microgaming in 2006 and consolidating the player base.

Overall, Unibet Poker and the Microgaming network have good game variety, a good range of table limits and some very attractive promotions, although the network in general seems more focused on other gambling forms than poker.

Unibet Poker also doesn’t have much above and beyond what any other Microgaming skin has, except for maybe live chat and the multilingual support - but those aren't always active.

That being said though, what it does provide poker-wise is quite adequate and will meet most players’ basic needs.

The software provides very useful stats, three different table sizes (large, normal and mini view), and is quite stable and reliable. The software and support comes in several different languages, including English, Swedish, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch.

Unibet Poker also run plenty of special promotions, including a nice bad beat jackpot and its own Unibet Poker Open held in various locales around Europe.

Games offered are Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo, Five-Card Draw and Razz.

Real-money player statistics as of October 2014 show 2000 ring-game players at peak hours and 10000 tournament players at peak hours.

At 100%

Unibet Poker offers all players who sign up through a PokerListings link an exclusive $1300 sign-up bonus.

Promotions Summary

Unibet Poker offers a fairly standard, if limited, promotion lineup including a VIP Club for frequent players and a regular rotation of special live tournament satellites .

Prominent prize packages are typically for the WSOP in Vegas and for Unibet's own "Unibet Open" at various locales across Europe.

Three "Desperado" rebuy tournaments also run daily and offer low buy in (€1-3) shots at some guaranteed cash.

Loyalty Program

Unibet Poker offers a standard VIP program, with points added to your account every time you play a raked hand.

Points earned range from 0.5-1.5 depending on total rake. On Euro tables, VIP points are converted at the current Euro rate.

So if the current dollar-euro rate is 1.47, one VIP point earned on a €1-€2 table will be converted to 1.47 points.

A raked hand is a hand where the flop is seen and at least 25¢ in the table currency is taken from the pot. You earn points whether you've put money into that pot or not.

Players also get at least 2 VIP points per €1 in tournament fees, depending on the daily dollar-euro exchange rate.

VIP points can then be used to buy into MTTs and to buy gear in the points shop - which includes everything from back massagers to a Porsche.

Bonus Payout

Bonuses are paid out in four installments, with €250 released for every 3,000 VIP points.

Earn 12,000 points to release the full bonus amount.

Tournaments and Freerolls

Unibet Poker run a decent amount of freerolls, although they are usually highly populated and the prize pools are relatively small.

Several $100 freerolls daily. Now and then, Unibet Poker also run special promotional freerolls with larger prize pools; when that happens, droves of players sign-up and play is very loose.

Tournament Traffic

Real-money player statistics at Unibet Poker show 10000 real-money tournament players at peak hours as of October 2014.

Unibet Poker runs a lot of smaller tournaments catering to small-stakes players., with a high percentage of them rebuy events.

What does that mean for you? Because many of the tournaments are re-buy events, play in the early stages is often extremely loose - be sure to note the type of tournament before joining.

Unibet Poker also run a weekly $150k Guaranteed on Sundays and a monthly $250,000 that pays out over $50,000 to the winner.

Daily qualifiers run for these tournaments with buy-ins as low as $5.50.

Unibet Poker also offer occasional qualifiers to big live events on the European Poker Tour, the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour, plus to its own Unibet Poker Open.

Software and Graphics

Software summary

Unibet Poker runs on the Microgaming network, sharing the player base and software.

The software is fast and reliable, offering a very good playing experience.

One of the better features is the in-game statistics, which shows how often a player sees the flop, their win percentage and more; there is also a graphic replay of hands that is very useful. < /p>

Stats functions allow for notes on the opposition during play, and the lobby supplies vital table statistics like viewed-flop percentage, average pot size, seated-player's stack size and hands played per hour.

At any time a player can look at an analysis of his own play through an interface at the table, seeing checks, calls, folds and re-raises.

The hand history works well in the software and exports smoothly to the local computer for analysis, but does not list hands played in a session - something that can be a little annoying.

The lobby does count raked hands, making it easy for a player to keep track of how much he has played for bonus clearing.

Tables are freely resizable, making it possible to multi-table a good number of tables.

Multi-table play runs smoothly and quickly thanks to the clean and clear graphics.

The tables are well-designed and the lack of intricate graphics leaves only the most important information visible to the player.

Action at the poker table is more animated than other sites, with avatars also available for players to pick from.

Overall it looks ok, but the animation does slow down the game a bit.

The lime-green-and-black color scheme and the colorful buttons can be a bit of an eyesore - one player said it was like someone "vomited crayolas" - but not a real obstacle for most.

Special Features

Special functions are the mini view that helps multi-table play on smaller monitors and the table-integrated statistics.

The no-download version of the software is also pretty solid.

Soft Competition

Unibet Poker offers relatively loose and juicy games in both cash games and tournaments. Shorthanded tables and turbo games produce wild games with viewed-flop percentages upwards of 55%. The average viewed-flop percentage for full 10-player tables is just under 40% - which is quite high. For the juiciest tournament play, look for the special tournaments offered, and pretty much any tournament with a buy-in under $10.
