Raymer WCOOP brouhaha: French player apologizes

Greg Raymer
Greg Raymer was embroiled in controversy during the 2007 WCOOP.

Player Belragazo from France, who wrote "kill him" and "yes!!!!!!" when Greg Raymer was knocked out of the 2007 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker main event, has posted an apology in the PokerListings.com forum.

Greg Raymer seemed quite upset with Belragazo's behaviour, and wrote, among other things, "bel, you're a jerk, jerks always lose in the end" in the chat.

In his post in the PokerListings forum, Belragazo explains why he acted the way he did during the WCOOP tournament.

"First of all, I would like to apologize to all of you. I think my behaviour was excessive and I did not want to hurt anybody. It was very early in the morning 8 Am and I was extremely tired when the controversy happened about my 'Kill him,'" he writes.

He claims that, despite the incident, he has a lot of respect for Greg Raymer as a poker player.

"I did say that I was happy that Greg was out because I felt that I was scared of him and that it made me hesitate to play in situations I would usually win the hands."

Belragazo also writes that he was upset with Raymer after some pots where "The Fossilman" got lucky. The Frenchman has posted excerpts from the hand history to prove his point.

His reason for waiting to post the explanation in the forum rather than apologizing in the chat during the tournament is that he didn't want to lose his concentration.
