Jason Warner
A Vancouver, British Columbia home supply store employee picked up some hardware at the 2007 World Series of Poker when he landed his first gold bracelet in the six-handed No-Limit Hold'em championship.
In his second-ever WSOP tournament, Jason Warner scored a split pot of $481,968 and evidence that his dreams of becoming a professional poker player could become reality.
Unlike many of his young poker peers, the Canadian bachelor eschews playing online in favor of competing at the local River Rock Casino near Vancouver. Shortly before his gold-bracelet win, Warner took down a Canadian Poker Tour event at the casino, placing first in a class of 240 for $22,000.
But that isn't enough to stay afloat in the poker world and Warner has stuck with his sales manager job at Surrey New and Used, selling building materials and supplies. After his most recent cash though, Warner's career path is anyone's guess.
One thing is for certain, however: He will always be playing poker.
"It's always been a passion," an overtired Warner told PokerListings.com at the 2007 Series. "Ever since I was old enough to get into a casino, I'd head to that little room in the corner where everyone's sitting at those tables playing. I taught myself how to play and it's gotten me pretty far now."
