Phil Ivey crushes Tom "durrrr" Dwan

By: Arthur Crowson

Another day, another catastrophic downswing for Tom "durrrr" Dwan.

Dwan has been keeping busy waiting for his little-hyped challenge by playing Sami "LarsLuzak" Kelopuro and Phil Ivey and, so far, it's not going well.

At the time this article was published Dwan had just lost a massive session versus Ivey. During the session Dwan mostly two-tabled Pot-Limit Omaha against Ivey and racked up nearly $1 million in losses.

Ivey, on the other hand, was up to nearly the same amount with $680,000 banked and is quickly digging his way out of the hole that he fell into in the beginning of 2009.

The biggest hand of the session was a scorcher, with a pot worth more than $270,000. In the hand Ivey was dealt the old double-suited J 3 T 9 on the button. Ivey bet preflop and durrrr reraised. Ivey called to see a flop of A J 2.

Both players checked and the turn came 7; Dwan bet $11,400, and Ivey flatted. The river fell 8, which of course gave Ivey his straight.

Dwan bet $32,000; Ivey reraised to $116,000, and Dwan called. The New Jersey poker prodigy insta-mucked as soon as he saw Ivey flip over the nut straight.

If you think you can ascertain what Dwan held, follow the action yourself in the PokerListings hand replayer below.

Meanwhile Dwan, once again, sinks back down to around $3 million in the hole. If the durrrr Challenge is still happening we may get a very good idea of just how much damage Dwan's bankroll can take.
