Game Over! Ivey Wins LAPC!
On the second hand of heads-up play, Quinn Do limps in from the small blind and Phil Ivey raises to $400,000 from the big blind. The flop comes A
8
6
and Ivey bets out $700,000. Do makes the call, leaving himself with only about $1 million behind, and the turn is the A
. Ivey moves all-in and Do goes into the tank, counting and re-counting his stack and looking absolutely miserable about the circumstances.
Eventually, after some serious soul-searching, Do announces a call and turns up 9
8
for aces-up. Ivey, however, has A
8
for aces-full and Do is drawing dead. The river card is a meaningless 4
and Phil Ivey has won the Los Angeles Poker Classic and his first World Poker Tour title!
For the win, the Full Tilt pro will take home $1,596,100 as well as a gigantic trophy and a WPT chip set. Quinn Do earns $909,400 for his second-place finish. Congratulations to both finalists and to the staff at the Commerce Casino and World Poker Tour for staging another epic event!
