After a nine-year hiatus the European Poker Tour is finally returning to the capital of Ireland.

And it's about time.

Dublin not only has one of the longest poker traditions in Europe it's one of the friendliest and most welcoming cities in the world.

Following up a trip off the continent to the Bahamas the EPT is back on European soil for its only stop until the Grand Final in Monaco in April.

Let’s see what's in store.

Dates and Location

  • Date: February 9-20
  • Location: The Royal Dublin Society (RDS)
  • No. of tournaments: 67
Reuben Peters
Reigning champ.

Two Main Events

It’s already become the rule more than the exception that the EPT pairs up with a smaller National series.

In Dublin the UKIPT will precede the EPT with the main event running Feb. 10-15. With a buy-in of €1,100 it'll be another large tournament attracting players from all over the world.

Lower buy-in events have been the starting point of quite a few steep poker careers. Adrian Mateos, for example, was a complete unknown when he won the Estrellas Main Event in Madrid in early 2013.

Nine months and six final tables later he won the WSOP Europe Main Event in France. Last year he won the EPT Grand Final Main Event

The highlight of the EPT Dublin poker festival is surely going to be the main event. Day 1A will be February 14 and the buy-in will be the regular €5,300.

Do you remember Reuben Peters? He won the last EPT Dublin main event in 2007 in an incredible comeback over Annette Obrestad so, technically, that makes him the defending champion.

4 High Rollers on the Table

The most expensive event, the €25,750 High Roller, is on the schedule for Feb. 12-14.

The UKIPT has its own high roller tournament as well. It’s a €2,200 event and it’s scheduled for February 13/14.

By popular demand the EPT has also added a 10k Single-Day High Roller.

The last highlight will be the “regular” €10,300 high roller. Its final table will run simultaneously to the main event finale.

Jason Mercier
High Rollers will be out in force.

Apart from these the EPT Dublin schedule features a wide array of side events in sometimes very unusual games.
