888poker Qualifier Christoph Bruell Could Turn $30 into $13m at WSOP

This is Christoph Bruell's first trip to the United States.

Everyone still in the WSOP Main Event is gunning for the $8 million first-place prize but Christoph Bruell will get an additional $5 million bonus if he wins.

Bruell, who is from Germany, won his WSOP Main Event package for $30 through a special qualifier on 888poker.

Now Bruell is 54th in chips out of the remaining 251 players. This event started with 6,737 and Bruell is already guaranteed $36,708.

But if he can go the distance and win the tournament, he'll bag an extra $5 million on top.

“Last year I was with my girlfriend and we are like fanboys watching the WSOP on television,” Bruell told PokerListings.com.

“To be here now feels surreal. It feels like a dream coming true.”

VP of Poker Hili Shakked is in Las Vegas overseeing the almost 300 qualifiers 888poker brought to the WSOP this year and he says live events like this are an important part of the 888poker experience.

“We want every poker player not just to play online at home for a few dollars but actually to have a dream of maybe one day reaching a big tournament like this,” said Shakked.

“Even if they don't finish at the final table, to at least experience what poker is and tell their friends.”

888poker puts a big emphasis on attracting recreational players to their site and creating a playing environment that's fun and friendly.
