2007 WSOP: David Pham working dead money
As if card players at the Rio already didn't have enough to worry about with feared tournament killer David "the Dragon" Pham in the room, what, with his two WSOP bracelets and all.
Now players on the other side of the ropes in the Amazon Room also have to be wary: He's not afraid to drop in on the odd cash game to make his buy-in.
Ruling card rooms around Los Angeles and Las Vegas for the better part of the last fifteen years, David Pham has no shortage of titles to his name.

$5,000 Heads-Up at the Mirage Poker Showdown this year, $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout at the WSOP last year... wherever Pham plays, there's usually a trail of trophies and a walletful of cash leaving with him.
This year's WSOP hasn't exactly paid out as expected, though, with a fourth-place finish in the $3,000 Limit Hold'em event and a $62,906 payout the best he's mustered so far.
Unless of course you start talking about cash games.
Who knows how much Pham as already pocketed from the dead money floating around the Rio this month?
He gave us a hint, though, as PokerListings.com caught up with him on a quick smoke break.
David, how's the series going?
This World Series I've done so poor, only one final table and three cash. Three cash, one final table.
What do you think of it so far?
So many people come to the World Series to play. That's why yesterday's $5,000 had over 700 people play and today over 2,000 people. Tomorrow, maybe 3,000. The first one I play, there was 3,000 people and I came in 64. Then the Limit event I came in 4th, and the $5,000 I came about 65, so...
You'll be playing the Main Event of course…
Oh yeah, every year we dream about the Main Event. Last year at the Main Event I went out about 400, only about $40,000.
Playing a lot of cash games, a lot of dead money kicking around?
(Laughs) Oh yeah... I've been winning good in the live games. I've been playing $25/$50 No-Limit Hold'em.
Here, at the Rio?
Yeah, I've been playing the live game now. I just bust out and try and jump to the live game and get my money back (Laughs)…
Ha, and is it working?
Oh yeah, I just win $2,000.
Or you going to go play 2-7 lowball now then?
No, deuce-to-seven no. I think not too many people are playing. Tomorrow, it's a good price, but I skip tomorrow, I don't play tomorrow, the $1,000 multiple re-buy, I'll play that. Because it will have more people.
What's another bracelet mean to you.
I go every year to try and win the bracelet. This year, the best I've come is 4th place, so I'm looking forward to a few more chances.
Well, good luck David.
