WINNER: Integrated Staking at GGPoker
We can consider this the true poker innovation of 2020. An in-built staking platform was in demand for a long time in community. But until GGPoker, this wasn't possible as part of a poker site.
Now we can support our favorite players and share in their excitement and winnings. Whether you're buying pieces of an ambassador or friend you believe in. Or selling your own action to get into a higher stakes you normally wouldn't be able to play.
The ease at which you can do this and how it brings a community together are the reasons we're awarding the Poker Innovation of the Year award to GGPoker.
Note: This site is not yet available in the US. But they're working on it!
Nominees for Innovation of the Year
Compulsory Real Names
- partypoker -
Anonymity in online poker is an important feature for most players. But when the money at the table surpasses a certain limit, anonymity suddenly turns into a lack of security. That's why partypoker began experimenting with real names in 2019. Since this year, the operator enforces real names in almost all big actual money tournaments and high stakes cash games. The overwhelming majority of players is in favor of this change and other operators (like GGPoker) began adapting compulsory real names in big tournaments as well.
- PokerStars -
PokerStars loves knockout tournaments and put more and more focus on this tournament format over the past years. In 2020 PokerStars launched a new play mode which combines progressive knockout tournaments, jackpot sit & gos and step tournaments. The PokerStars Grand Tour is surprisingly addictive game mode with buy-ins between $1 and $60 where players can battle for knockout prizes constantly and have those prizes increased by a random multiplier allowing them to win six figure amounts.
- GGPoker -
In late 2019 GGPoker launched an exciting feature that allows players to buy tournament action or sell their own stakes in tournaments. You can support your favorite players and win (or lose) with them, and you can sell your action to spread the cost of tournament entries. Long before GGPoker players bought and sold action via social media or external sites, but GGPoker is the first operator to offer integrated staking which makes the entire staking process much easier, safer and more accessible to players of all levels.
How the Awards Process Works
The PokerListings editorial team has worked in the online poker business for decades and here we’re presenting the PokerListings Operator Awards - casting a spotlight on the most deserving in the business.
Throughout the month of November, our PokerListings experts present the shortlisted nominees in 8 different categories: Best for Beginners, Best for Grinders, Best Online Series, Best Software, Most Improved, Innovation of the Year, Poker Operator of the Year, and finally the PokerListings Players' Favorite.
During this Nomination period in November all PokerListings players can vote for our 8th category: Your favorite poker operator of them all. You will find a wider selection of nominees than the other award categories for a better choice. And you can cast your vote (one per person) on our Facebook and Twitter channels. We'll provide results on both outlets as well as our Player Favorite page - along with the other category results.
After a long deliberation throughout this month, we will announce the winners on all our channels at the start of December (official date TBA). Our winners will also be contacted and provided with their badge of honor as this year's winners.
