GGPoker seems to have had the biggest growth in 2020 stretching out to countries worldwide. They came at us with a truly innovative in-built staking platform atop super fun software. But it seems that they are continuously innovating and making the best improvements. Remaining very active throughout the year and keeping their focus on features that scream 'fun'.
Aside from that, we can't not factor in the multiple events they hosted this year, like Battle of Malta. But more importantly their major affiliation with WSOP and how they smashed all-time records for entries and prizepools.
Nominees: Poker Operator of the Year
GGPoker became a major frontrunner in 2020, seemingly out of nowhere. Maybe it’s the big-name ambassadors like Daniel Negreanu, Bryn Kenney, ElkY and Fedor Holz. However, GGPoker has more than earned their status with their player-focused software. Including a no-external-HUDs policy, strikingly fun features, and a unique Staking platform to buy pieces of your favorite players. Their record-breaking WSOP this year was the cherry on top of the reasons why they’re nominated for best operator.
888poker (formerly Pacific Poker) has stood the test of time, remaining in the top 10 poker rooms year after year. Its quality is reliably consistent even in 2020 - thanks to continuous improvements - like this year’s major software revamp and promos. 888’s various affiliations, including WSOP, keep this brand top of mind for players in the US and worldwide. This, combined with their vast reach, bonuses and recreational player focus make 888poker a serious contender for Poker Operator of the Year 2020.
You can’t think ‘online poker’ without the renowned PokerStars brand - a trailblazer in the industry. Especially when it comes to software customization and reliability. PokerStars has a vast variety that even in 2020, no other provider can match, including niche H.O.R.S.E & Razz games. With the poker room’s global reach, traffic is solid across time zones with games running 24/7. What’s more, this year’s WCOOP & EPT Online events have exceeded our expectations, cementing their 'Best Operator' nomination.
partypoker was one of the earlier poker rooms to revolutionize poker and remains one of the most popular choices for beginners and grinders in 2020. Active players can still benefit from a pretty lucrative 20-40% rakeback program - which is hard to find elsewhere. And there’s been lots of effort in terms of series and promotions this year. All atop a platform that remains smooth and competitive, especially after the December & March updates and new features. Earning it a spot on this list.
How the Awards Process Works
The PokerListings editorial team has worked in the online poker business for decades and here we’re presenting the PokerListings Operator Awards - casting a spotlight on the most deserving in the business.
Throughout the month of November, our PokerListings experts present the shortlisted nominees in 8 different categories: Best for Beginners, Best for Grinders, Best Online Series, Best Software, Most Improved, Innovation of the Year, Poker Operator of the Year, and finally the PokerListings Players' Favorite.
During this Nomination period in November all PokerListings players can vote for our 8th category: Your favorite poker operator of them all. You will find a wider selection of nominees than the other award categories for a better choice. And you can cast your vote (one per person) on our Facebook channel. We'll provide results on both outlets as well as our Player Favorite page - along with the other category results.
After a long deliberation throughout this month, we will announce the winners on all our channels at the start of December (official date TBA). Our winners will also be contacted and provided with their badge of honor as this year's winners.
