John Wasnock’s Biography
John Wasnock is an amateur poker player from North Bend, Washington. A graduate of the University of Washington with a degree in business and finance. Since 1997, he has been working at Verus, a Seattle-based investment consulting firm. Over nearly 30 years with the company, he has risen to the position of Director of Private Markets and become a shareholder.
In his spare time, Wasnock enjoys golf and following Seattle’s professional sports teams.

Poker Career
Wasnock has been playing poker since 1983 and transitioned to online play in the 2000s. The 2025 WSOP Main Event was his second appearance in this tournament, his first coming a decade earlier. Reaching the final table was a lifelong dream he never expected to realize.
On Day 8 of the Main Event, he was the short stack with 17 players remaining but managed an incredible comeback to reach heads-up play, ultimately falling to the unstoppable Michael Mizrachi.
Wasnock began playing live tournament poker in 2014, primarily focusing on events with buy-ins under $1,000. He has 28 recorded ITM finishes, including 11 final table appearances.
