Bryan Micon is a true icon of the game in the early 2000’s. With multiple deep runs at the World Series of Poker, numerous of companies related to bitcoin and poker, he has taken care of himself quite alright. Even though it wasn’t always going like ‘ABC’ for him.

From Stockbroker to Poker Professional

Bryan Micon’s poker career was launched by being a stockbroker. By doing this profession, he had to study a lot to consume as much as possible of information to become a great asset to the scene. In the late nineties the entire equity market had a worldwide downturn, and his strategy became suddenly worthless. Since then, his poker career got a boost and he started to play much more as he was previously doing, He attacked poker the same way as he did with his stockbroker career, studying a lot to become a successful poker player.

Next to poker he was active in the scrap metal market for a while, working for his former father-in-law.  Always he had been a bit of a loose cannon when it comes to money management. In 2003 allegedly he had $10,000 available on PokerStars and partypoker, until he was going to make some moves. About his alias name online is not much to find. He started up an affiliate program, was close to launch ‘DonkDown’ and started a website called ‘Goldenteeplayers.com’. Always he had something going on and was going to try to make a living out of online poker, which he eventually did. But never he knew where his money was at. Lost in time.

He, and his life partner, decided to try to make $3,000 a month out of Limit Hold’em poker by playing the same cash games at stakes of $10/$20. In this time, there were not any HUDs available, no online poker courses, no podcasts etc. There were only a handful of books available such as the book of Slansky.

Later, when he left everything behind to take his poker to another level, he and his friend Dustin Woolf started up an online forum called ‘neverwinpoker.com’. It became one of world’s first poker forums where people gathered to share all their poker knowledge.  They ended up selling their website to Tony G in 2008.

Mutliple Deep Runs

Brian Micon is most famous about his runs in 2005 and 2006 during the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. By winning multiple online satellites, which ran back then on PokerStars, he got $30,000 in tournaments tickets available to his name. He made the final table of a $2,000 event with $830,000 on top, but it did not end well for him.

Later in the Main Event he had a very deep run finishing 63rd for a quarter of a million dollars. The Main Event always has its glitter and glamour, where Bryan too his advantage of. By doing the ‘Thriller Dance’ on national television throughout the tournament. It got him worldwide fame.

He hoped this fame would turn into an ambassadorship with one of the bigger poker brands, sadly it did not and he kept the opportunity promote his own poker website of ‘neverwinpoker’. Since then, Bryan has stopped traveling for poker and had become a WSOP grinder. The WSOP would be his only tournaments he would play live, as he was too busy with his new poker brand ‘Sealswithclubs’.  More than a decade later, nothing has changed on this part. When looking at his results, you will mostly find either online or live cashes from the WSOP.

From Chips to Coins

Not long after, in 2011, Brian bought his first Bitcoin when the price was just below $4, and he has kept buying ever since. It even turned out that well to have an affiliation with SWC Poker, better known as SWC Poker nowadays. Bitcoins are one of Bryan’s main occupations and he is very active in the bitcoin communities all around the world. He owns multiple companies in relation to Bitcoin such as a ‘bitcoin miner’ company and has published his own book called ‘The Micon System’.

In the last several years, Bryan has not been extremely active in the poker industry. But he still does live in Las Vegas together with his wife and kid. But true to his pride nickname ‘King of the Degenerates’ and being a true WSOP grinder, he does play those events almost every year.

All in all, Bryan Micon is a one-of-a-kind personality who is known for his great set of minds when it comes to earning money with bitcoin and poker websites, is a bit of a lone wolf as well. Driven by freedom of speech, he is a very entertaining person to see. Make sure to follow his socials and have a look at his past video’s as well.
