Our Partypoker Review
After moving out of the US market in 2006, Partypoker was constantly playing catch up with other online poker giants. But made a turnaround thanks to a resurgence in the Partypoker Live tours that EPT founder John Duthie headed. Including their flagship MILLIONS events and partnerships with WSOP and WPT. Then, after major improvements to its software and online tournament schedule, this online poker room was back in action.
Now Partypoker attracts a great volume of soft and recreational players with its competitive promotions, loyalty rewards and special events. Not to mention the schedule of top tournaments and cash games available 24/7 on their recently updated software client. The result is a fun play environment for poker. Partypoker will mostly appeal to casual players since online play online is generally on the soft side. The lower limit Hold’em and Omaha games are relatively easy, especially the tournaments.
However, players enjoy their multi-tabling action, and unique Fastforward poker, Shortdeck, Sit & Gos and SPINS, and Progressive Knockout games too. But the annual $60m guaranteed Powerfest that launched in 2016 has really upped the ante. Featuring 50 days of daily competitive online poker and some of the biggest prize pools. There are buy-ins to suit any bankroll, plus, a full schedule of satellites starting from just $0.55! Publically traded on the London Stock Exchange, Partypoker is arguably the most secure online poker room. With recognized certifications from eGaming, GamCare and eCOGRA.

EXCLUSIVE POKERLISTINGS OFFER
Aside from the 100% up to $500, all new depositing players will get $20 FREE into their account manually. This is a $10 Cash bonus - with a 120 point requirement to withdraw, and $10 in Tournament Dollars. Weekend depositors will receive their bonus on Monday, otherwise you’ll get it on Friday. All you need to do is register on Partypoker via this site.
Poker Rakeback Rewards
The Partypoker Loyalty Program is mainly a poker rakeback structure with points. This cashback idea went out of style at some point before Partypoker brought it back as a reward scheme. However, you need to opt-in to start counting points for poker rakeback.
Partypoker rakeback usually arrives in player accounts every Monday to start the week. Basically, as a regular Partypoker player, you’ll earn one point for every $1 you pay in rake or tournament fees. Once you earn at least 25 points during a weekly period, you qualify for a bonus drop of rakeback. However, there are four tiers to this cashback scheme, as you can see in the table below:
|POINTS||CASHBACK %||POKER RAKEBACK AMOUNT|
|25 - 100||20%||$5 - $20|
|150 - 500||25%||$37 - $125|
|600 - 1,000||30%||$180 - $300|
|1,200 - 2,000||40%||$480 - $800|
|+2,000||40%||40% every 200 points|
So joining this promo from the Offers section is worth your while, especially if you play lots of hands monthly.
Diamond Club Rewards
You can enjoy 40-50% poker rakeback if you meet the 100k target and become a Partypoker Diamond VIP. You have 12 months to hit that target by playing any Partypoker game, including cash games, Fastforwards, SPINS, and MTTs. Aside from huge cashbacks, Diamond Club members also get special support and VIP service at the MILLIONS events. As well as happy hours, freerolls, weekly rewards and more.
And if you’re ready to go higher, you can join the DIAMOND CLUB ELITE and earn up to 60% cashback. Plus - VIP packages to the annual Caribbean Poker Party in the Bahamas, and an online MILLIONS tournament ticket. Diamond Club Elites also have rake races for SPINS and cash / FastForward games for an extra $20-50K prize. To achieve this level, you need to stake 200k at the tables over a 12-month period.
Ongoing Partypoker Promotions
Free spins, reload bonuses, free swag and cashback perks are among the promos you can take advantage of. You can also play a ton of satellites at very low buy-ins that can move you up the ladder to win amazing packages to the Partypoker Live tour around the world. The Monster Series and SNG Leaderboards are more examples of ongoing Partypoker promotions that dramatically up the player value. You enter for a small buy-in, but can potentially walk away with a life-changing final prize.
Non-Stop PartyPoker Tournament Schedule
Tournaments are a big part of Partypoker, with the biggest volumes in the small buy-ins. However, you can also find big buy-in tournaments which will definitely offer up some tough competition. Partypoker runs a great deal of guaranteed daily and weekly tournaments for all kinds of players, with some special additions.
In fact, if you’re looking for a challenge, there’s regular scheduling of special tournaments that last a couple of weeks. Like The Poker Masters, MILLIONS, Partypoker SOCHI and Grand Prix series, for example. You can qualify for such events through satellites and freerolls. Imagine entering a $500k GTD tournament with $315 buy-in for as little as $3 satellite.
Partypoker MILLIONS Series
MILLIONS is by far the biggest of the Partypoker flagship and online tournament series reaching over $20 million every time. It hosts a huge build up of events throughout the year, including tons of satellites and massive guaranteed tournaments. All snowballing to the end of the year’s climax - the main event, where multiple millionaires are made.
So make sure you look out for Partypoker promos which can award buy-ins to the MILLIONS main and side events. Even including hotel and travel packages for the experience. It’s definitely a highlight for Partypoker players and fans all over the world. All coming together to compete for only one coveted MILLIONS crown and upward of $2 million as a top prize.
Massive $60m Powerfest
The Partypoker flagship Powerfest series runs a couple times a year reaching as high as $60 million guaranteed per event. Every time, you get hundreds of tournaments to compete in, with a range of games, including PLO and Progressive Knockout.
Major Partypoker pros like Anatoly Filatov appear atop the high-stakes leaderboards. But with buy-ins as low as $5.50, Powerfest truly gives everyone a shot at the money and glory. The Powerfest promotions also come in tow to add even more value to the mix. Offering players entry via quick 3-handed Powerfest SPINS. Or the chance to build up to the main event via qualifying satellites.
Deal into Unique Partypoker Games
The poker games on offer cover all variations of Texas Hold'em and Pot-Limit Omaha. Because of its size and geographical diversity, you can find Partypoker action at pretty much any hour. But aside from the standard games, Partypoker also has a few variations of their own.
Three-handed SPINS are the new and improved ‘Jackpot Sit & Gos, as part of Partypoker’s rebrand in early 2019. You’ll love them because they’re quick and provide great value - with the possibility of winning huge bucks in minutes.
In SPINS, the prize pools are still multiplied randomly between 2x and 240,000x before the tournament begins. Levels increase every 3 minutes to keep the action pumping, but in SPINS Ultra, blinds are faster and stacks shorter. So you can play more games in less time.
You can buy-in from $0.25 to $500 each game, which makes it affordable for everyone to chase six-figure prizes. In fact, in the SPINS $1M special, you’ll be playing for a $1 Million prize with just a $5 buy-in. We suggest you play SPINS in portrait mode from your mobile - even using one hand if you wish. You can play up to four SPINS simultaneously and earn Diamond rewards to exchange for the Rabbit Hunting feature.
FastForward Cash Games
Partypoker also offers its own speed poker variant called FastForward Poker. This speed or "fast fold" poker variant is somewhat similar to Zoom Poker and Rush Poker. In the sense that it allows players to record thousands of hands in less time. Essentially, if you don’t like your hand, you can hit ‘Forward Fold’ to move to another table for a new hand. So you’re playing with a pool of players and not at a fixed table. You can play up to nine Fastforward tables at once. With its quick-fire format, you blaze through more hands and reach cashback requirements and leaderboard spots faster. Win-win.
Yeah - It’s a whole new kind of game that helps reduce cash swings. A recent addition is the Run it Twice feature for all-in players, so you can play full-featured cash games. You can easily configure it from your Table settings. This essentially deals two sets of remaining board cards and divides the pot in half for each board. So you actually get a double chance at no extra rake - Thanks Partypoker! However, all players in the hand need to agree to Run it Twice - otherwise the board completes once as usual.
Play Short Deck Hold’em at Partypoker
Another nice addition to the Partypoker software is Short Deck Hold'em, which originally started in Asia a couple of years back. Phil Ivey heavily promoted the newer poker game variation, and lately it has swept the high-stakes scene. Even resulting in the first televised Short deck hold’em tournament at Triton Casino in 2018.
Short Deck Poker - also known as 6+ Hold'em, is an action-packed game with only cards above 6 in the deck. Playing with just 36 cards opens up new levels of Hold’em strategy and can lead to some pretty big hands. But you’ll find a few key differences from your traditional Texas Hold’em games. Firstly, aces play as both high and low cards. So you can make a low straight with A6789 or a high straight with TJQKA. Also, a flush now beats a full house in the hand rankings because it’s harder to get.
In Short Deck Poker, there’s no small and big blind. Instead, every player needs to pay an ante pre-flop which makes for bigger opening pots. These bloated pots can of course lead to some pretty aggressive play. Combined with the fact that less cards in the deck give players “big hands” more often which drives more action. You can play Partypoker Short Deck Hold’em on 6-max tables with buy-ins as low as $2. So these cash games suit any bankroll - and the antes range from $0.02 to $10.00. For now you can only play Short Deck Hold’em. But expect Short Deck MTTs and Short Deck SNGs to follow.
Go on and find Short Deck in the Partypoker client quick-view lobby or in the main Cash Game lobby. But first, learn more about how to play Short Deck Hold'em on our dedicated page here:
Collect Progressive Knockout Bounties
The Partypoker Progressive Knockout MTTs put a bounty on top of players’ heads - at no extra rake from the house. So, the bounties are actually inflated for every player you knock out. PKOs are super popular because you can walk away with a reward even if you don’t win the whole thing. Basically, the more people you eliminate, the bigger your cash prize. And in return, the bigger your own bounty increases to. So if you’ve given a few players the kiss of death, you’re sure to become a target. This leads to a whole new action-packed game where every player’s watching their back.
SOFTWARE AND GRAPHICS
The current Partypoker client offers a sharp, dark theme with plenty of customization. Plus, it’s one of the fastest and most reliable around. The Flash application browser version makes it possible to play Partypoker on Windows, Apple and Linux. And the download version is available to both Mac and Windows users too.
Partypoker is constantly perfecting its poker experience with software updates released every month. All these moves aim to improve the experience for recreational players. We’ve seen major additions for players to be able to customize and personalize their environment as well as experience boosters. But these innovative releases have just been the cherry on the cake:
- Hot hand alert
- Chips removal - cash games
- Multi-tabling (4 or 12 at a time)
- MyGame - poker coaching tool
- Equal blinds for heads-up
- Diamonds - earned during gameplay
- Rabbit Hunt
Other than that, you can also expect to find the successful industry standards:
- Four-color decks
- Big tables and hole cards
- Special series table themes
- Player Stats
- Late Reg countdown
Hot Hand Alert!
The “hot hand” alert is one of the best features in our opinion. Because you can set it to notify you whenever you get a specific hand, like pocket aces or kings. Especially handy when you’re in a bit of a mental slump after folding hand after hand, or if you’re distracted.
Removing Chips from the Table
What was that - removing chips? You may not have heard of this because Partypoker is the ONLY poker site that lets you do this. Once your stack reaches a certain size, you can remove chips from the table, but still keep playing at it.
Multi-tabling at Partypoker
Multi-tabling is a dream on Partypoker with support for play at 12 tables simultaneously on desktop and four on mobile. You can resize tables, use mini-views, easy-to-use swipe functions and lots of pre-set actions to simplify things. Tiling, cascading and unique “stacking” views are also available - which some players swear by.
NEW Rabbit Hunt (2020)
Partypoker only released Rabbit Hunt in March 2020. This feature allows you to see any cards that would have been dealt if you hadn’t folded. So if you fold pre-flop, you may be able to see a flop after you fold. Or you can see whether you would have caught your flush if you folded to your opponent’s all-in post-flop. This of course won’t change anything, but it helps give some satisfaction if you fold right. Or well, some regret if your fold lost you equity.
Partypoker actually offers a downloadable app for both iOS and Android. But you can also instant play mobile poker using their HTML5 client on your device.
Usually poker players on the go like the instant accessibility of cash games instead of large MTTs. But the Partypoker mobile app makes participating in these tournaments more appealing because of its latest immersive updates. Like the new portrait layout, for example, for one-handed play and a centralized raise slide bar for easier access. You can also multi-table up to four games on your mobile screen. So technically you could tile a cash game, tourney, SPINS and fastforward game all at the same time. Partypoker Team Online pro Jaime Staples described it as simple, intuitive and fun. While Jeff Gross says it’s refreshing and “makes you really say WOW”.
There’s also a selection of quick-hit Sit & Gos to play, which translate well to the mobile environment too. But our favorite - and probably the most fun - games are the SPINS, where you can throw emojis at your opponents. A close second would be the FastForward cash games, where you can now also earn Diamond points (As of January 2020).
Partypoker brings in hundreds of new players daily. Yet not so much has changed in terms of the soft competition it’s known for. Of course, fields do vary depending on what time you play and which region you’re in. But there are still plenty of fish to hook in the pond. If you're playing at top levels, you may find tougher poker talent that moved over from other poker sites. So if you stick to low to mid-stakes, you may find plenty of money-making opportunities. This is true even up to $2/$4 in No-Limit and $5/$10 in Fixed-Limit, for example. Many other poker rooms usually have tougher opposition at these stakes.
PartyPoker NJ is of course segregated from the rest of the world. So you may struggle to find a game in the relatively modest market. At the same time, we can’t complain about finally having some legal poker in the USA. Just pick your spots, and you’ll have a great time on Partypoker!
