Fortune Wheel Spin to Win

Poker, like so many other sports and games, tends to see players hitting (or losing) form during periods in which it seems they can’t go wrong. It’s never easy actually winning in poker – apart from having to play well, we need to avoid bad luck and get more than our fair share of good luck. Nevertheless, it’s not uncommon to see players following up good results with other good results in subsequent (and more rarely, successive) tournaments. By the way, those players who enjoy online poker tournaments and have yet to win one, just remind yourself that real money online poker offers countless opportunities… and you’re going to have a great time trying!

With form in mind, a certain player at partypoker who has attracted attention is “o Paz ta ON” who – players beware! – is a force to be reckoned with during the MILLIONS Online KO Series which runs until 30 May. The clearly talented player managed to top the 1,257-strong field in a recent edition of the $109 buy-in Sunday Party – flagship weekly tournament at partypoker that gained attention recently when the poker room’s own Team Pro Patrick “Patrick_Leonard” Leonard managed the rare feat of winning the same fixture back-to-back. Note that Leonard failed to make the prizes when attempting his hat trick – the poker gods can be quite fickle…

If you’ve yet to give the Sunday Party a try, don’t forget that bankroll-friendly qualifiers mean that everyone can take part. Take a look at the final table payouts of this recent edition to see what you can expect to win if you run deep. Note that all but one of the nine finalists won at least a four-figure sum!

The Grand Ends in 3-Way Deal

Meanwhile, Patrick Leonard was amongst the 55 runners who battled away for top honours (and considerable amounts of cash!) in the $1,050 buy-in Grand tournament that paid out a juicy $60,000 prize pool.

After a final table that was a Who’s Who of poker was eventually whittled down to three players, they opted to make a deal. Samuel Vousden took third place for $9,044, with Thiago Taira runner-up with a tidy $12,502 and, topping the pile, New Zealand’s David Yan pocketed $12,736.

Good luck at the tables, and have fun!

One of the great things about real money online poker is that players of all kinds can have their needs met from just one part of the whole. This is because the menu features Texas Hold’em and Omaha cash tables, Sit & Go games and online poker tournaments literally 24/7, every day of the year. Of course, any poker fan with even the mildest of ambition should really be trying to get acquainted with all of the above in order to have a more rounded understanding of the game (each variant and format gives us something to add to our armoury), but if you prefer to stick to just one or two, that’s fine.

Here’s a reminder for Omaha specialists – or those wishing to dip their toes into the murky but exhilarating waters of the game that gives you four hole cards – to drop into WPT Global to catch great promos that focus exclusively on this exciting unruly brother of the more traditional Texas Hold’em.

The record-breaking GGPoker World Festival 2023 is setting the bar for the next level of online poker series as over $20 million in prizes were paid out in the first 72 hours in a total of 22 poker tournaments! The first week of the event was absolutely EPIC, and there were plenty of action-packed moments at the poker tables. The tournament series has still plenty to offer, especially from its total GTD prize pool of $200 million! So get ready as various Texas Hold’em and Omaha poker tournaments give thousands of online poker hustlers a chance to win life-changing prizes.

Below are some highlights from the first week of the GGPoker’s World Festival tournament series.

05 Bounty Hunters Poker Tournaments

05-H: $525 Bounty Hunters HR Main Event

The first million-dollar poker tournament, 05-H $525 Bounty Hunters HR Main Event, put 2,686 players to a grinding test, lasting nearly 11 hours before the final table was decided. An ode to one of the greatest head hunters of all time came from the player called “G3ngh1sKhAn”, whose killer play style can be compared to the great warlord from the Mongolian steppes. In the end, along with the bounties, he won a total of $116,871

05-M: $54 Bounty Hunters Sunday Main Event

The medium-level tournament, 05-M: $54 Bounty Hunters Sunday Main Event, was super popular. The tournament had nearly 13,000 players, which raised the prize pool to $642,000, meaning that heads were hunted vigorously, and bounties grew really BIG. The winner and the best bounty hunter was “Hunter_Aze” (he knows it), whose skills earned him a total of $37,105, including a bounty pool of $12,389.66, which was more than twice the second-best bounty hunter’s pot.

05-L: $54 Bounty Hunters Sunday Mini

The low-level poker tournament, 05-L: $54 Bounty Hunters Sunday Mini, offered a total prize pool of over $70,000, which was hunted by over 14,000 players with their own heads on the line. The tournament saw blood, tears, and a lot of butt sweat as the best players fought for the prize pool for nearly 9.5 hours, until the winner was decided. The best Bounty Hunter in this Sunday Mini tournament was “JohnBonGait” who netted over $4,500

05-S: $5,250 Bounty Hunters Super High Roller

The $5,250 buy-in Super High Roller, reserved for the deep pockets, distributed over $250,000 in prize money. The lion’s share of the GTD prize pool went to Nicholas Maimone, who earned over $100,000 for the win, including over $60,000 in bounties. The victory hurled the Canadian into a high position on the Super High Roller leaderboard, currently holding the 4th place.

06 Poker Tournaments – Super MILLION$ & GGMasters High Rollers, GGMasters Festival Edition, and Sunday Hundred Grand

The next million-dollar race – Super MILLION$ High Rollers, started just an hour after the MILLION$ poker tournament. A total of 212 players answered the call and paid the $10,300 buy-in to enter the tournament, which set the total prize pool to $2,120,000. The winner David Yan earned himself $428,624 in prize money.

As expected, the Low, Medium, and High versions of the 06 tournaments enjoyed greater popularity in terms of the number of players. The Low tournament had a whopping 10,624 participants, the Medium tournament 3,930, and the High tournament 792 participants. The guaranteed prize pools ranged from $150,000 for the smallest to $500,000 and $750,000 for the High one. In the Low tournament with over 10,000 players, a Canadian player named “shuffleupagus” won $13,891. The 06-Medium tournament lasted quite a while until the final table was settled in a deal between players “PredicTT” and “RanThisTable”, earning a total of $51,241 and $55,853, respectively.

The 06-High Edition, with a buy-in of $1,050, was won by Jonas Lauck, earning him a whopping $110,826.86.

Battle for Ranks Is on at the GGPoker World Festival 2023 Leaderboards

One of the exciting features of the GGPoker World Festival 2023 tournament series is its four leaderboards and their $100,000 prize pool.

In the Super High Roller Series, money is distributed to the top 8 players, with the best player receiving a total of $30,000 in addition to all tournament winnings. Currently in the lead is Canada’s Matthew Stumpf, followed by Swedish player Niklas Astedt less than 60 points behind, third is the Estonian heavy hitter Ottomar Ladva, and fourth place is being held by the 05-High Roller tournament winner Nicholas Maimone

Are you a baller or a brawler – or both? This is the question that PokerStars is asking its US poker players, as summer is about to kick off with a bang thanks to their Ballers & Brawlers: Play Your Way! promotion, which will be held 12-22 May and features a tournament series that promises to be a humdinger.

If you’re yet to find your inner poker self, PokerStars have even provided helpful definitions:

Baller: A player of a game, especially one with exceptional talent.

Brawler: A fighter who depends on ferocity and strength to win fights (often against more than one person).

It’s quite possible, of course, to be both, but you’ll find out eventually if you get involved in the all-new Ballers & Brawlers poker series that players in the US are being treated to, and which boasts $2,500,000 in guaranteed prizes across Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The 10-day online poker tournament festival is what real money online poker is all about, giving all poker fans a chance of glory by featuring Low, Medium and High tiered tournaments over a packed schedule that includes 60 events! You’ll find a tasty menu of poker that ranges from great value Progressive Knockout (PKO) Bounty tournaments to prestigious high roller events, so whether you see yourself as a Baller, Brawler or both, there’s something for everyone.

Yet Another Accessible Tournament Series at PokerStars

Tournaments are split into two categories: Baller (higher buy-ins) and Brawler (lower buy-ins), with the Baller Main Event ($1,000 buy-in) and Brawler Main Event ($100 buy-in) being the respective headliners. Note that the Brawler buy-ins range from just $10 up to $50 but the guaranteed prize pools are juicy for every event. Meanwhile, those players with modest bankrolls will get their chance at taking part in the Baller events thanks to a rafter of cheap satellites.

And the series isn’t limited to just the traditional Texas Hold’em format. You’ll also find Omaha and others that will get Mixed game fans’ juices flowing, including Razz, Stud hi/lo, PLO8… and even a Pot Limit Badugi event!

Shared Liquidity Highlights include:

  • MAIN EVENT BALLER | $1,000 Buy In, $150K GTD
  • MAIN EVENT BRAWLER | $100 Buy-in, $150K GTD
  • $100K BALLER SPECIAL | $200 Buy In, $100K GTD

Good luck at the tables, and have fun!

Having been involved for many years in pro chess and then pro poker, your writer has spent a long time contemplating the link between these two ultimate tests of (amongst others) strategy, analysis, clear thinking, discipline, nerve and psychology

The similarities and significant overlaps have always been evident (and to a greater degree, the deeper we delve into the complexities of both), but this has never been more conspicuous than it is today, when technology – especially the internet – provides the perfect ‘mass inclusion’ environment for poker and chess. Both have benefitted immensely, with real money online poker and online chess competition attracting millions of players. And everyone has at their disposal practically unlimited learning resources, thus making for a universal improvement in terms of the overall player pools’ skill level.

Straddling the Poker/Chess Divide

Not surprisingly, this unlimited accessibility, combined with a thirst for achievement (even on a purely personal level), is seeing chess/poker players taking more than a passing interest in the ‘other’ game. This is certainly something I have witnessed increasingly during the last two or three years among a number of my friends, whose enthusiasm for experimenting – and even taking the ‘second’ game seriously – has been noticeable.

With this in mind, anyone with an interest in chess or poker would have to have been living in a cave not to have noticed that arguably the greatest ever chess player, former World Champion, Magnus Carlsen, has been investing quite a lot of time on poker. Note that I’m describing him as the former champion because, faced with the prospect of defending his title against Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia yet again after defeating him so comfortably the first time around in 2021 (Carlsen racked up a 7.5-3.5 victory without suffering a single loss), and aware of his lack of enthusiasm for certain fundamental aspects of competitive chess, the Norwegian genius decided to give up his crown.

As it turned out, the Russian was unable to replace Carlsen when the opportunity arose recently, despite the only time he went behind in the entire title match with fellow challenger Ding Liren of China being the very last game, the 14-game ‘long-play’ match having ended 7-7, and the first three ‘rapidplay’ play-off games each ending in a draw.

The Irony of Magnus Carlsen Being Great Publicity for … Poker

But what’s fascinating and newsworthy here – and which absolutely hasn’t gone unnoticed in the chess world – is what Carlsen was doing both in the run-up to and during the match that would determine his successor. The answer: playing poker! And we’re not talking a home game with chess friends, random online poker tournaments or letting off steam at anonymous online Texas Hold’em cash tables, but proper, big money events. Carlsen’s interest in poker has been very public, happily in the glare of a news media that’s growing increasingly inquisitive in terms of learning what the 32-year-old has in mind for the future.

Only he knows, of course. First, he’ll continue to play the high-profile chess tournaments where he’s guaranteed to both enjoy himself and earn bags of money. Some might say that he hardly needs to add to his wealth, which was already considerable even before the sale of Play Magnus to Chess.com for a tad short of a whopping $83 million last year. However, a potential fly in the ointment is a lawsuit, launched last year by teenage US Grandmaster Hans Niemann, who is suing Carlsen for $100 million amidst a bitter and dramatic cheating scandal (after numerous allegations aimed at Niemann) that rocked the chess world. Niemann, incidentally, is also suing Chess.com for the same amount.

That aside, Carlsen will also be keen to remind the chess world that he still sits at the top of the pile, and looks down on the rest from quite a height, regardless of who is the official world champion…

Potential Poker Prowess

There’s no denying Carlsen’s obvious passion for poker. And we can only expect this to continue, given his commitment in the last couple of years. And one that has gathered steam in recent months.

The fact that he’s taken so much time away from chess – an environment which, like poker, is constantly evolving and punishes those (even so-called super-grandmasters!) who fail to keep their game ticking along – to go off to play poker, is conspicuously significant.

And his crusade thus far has not been without promise. For example, in last year’s Norwegian Championships Main Event in Dublin, a tournament that had 1,050 entries, he finished a very impressive 25th. And, very recently, in Monte Carlo, Carlsen went deep in the €5,300 buy-in PokerStars EPT Main Event, finishing 63rd.

Carlsen also recently made a much-publicised appearance on Hustler Casino Live where, once again demonstrating insightful psychology that he puts to good use at the chess board, he managed to come up with an impressive call while holding only bottom pair to win a pot worth $13,775.

Interestingly, is it just coincidence that Carlsen was at Hustler’s, watched by a global poker audience, when the chess world was focusing on who would take over the world champion’s crown that had been in the chess king’s possession since 2013? Or is it a sign that the poker world is keen on pointing out that chess fans are crossing the divide? Note that, in the photo at the top of this article, Carlsen is sitting next to Alexandra Botez, a US-Canadian chess streamer whose rise to internet fame during the COVID-19 era attracted the eagle-eyed marketeers of poker, to the point that she, too, was also in Monte Carlo…

Image Credit: The Hustler Casino & WPT Global

In the very competitive world of real money online poker it’s the players who benefit, being spoilt for choice when offered countless menus of Texas Hold’em and Omaha cash tables, Sit & Go games and online poker tournaments round the clock. Indeed, it’s easy to almost blindly join an online poker room and find yourself in a decent place.

Having said that, it’s also worth taking the time to see which operators offer that little bit more than their rivals by providing different features or interesting tweaks on common aspects of the game that make for a more rewarding overall experience.

This article focuses on just a few reasons which, collectively, succeed in setting WPT Global apart from much of the competition. Already with a bit of an edge due to being the online arm of the much-respected World Poker Tour (WPT), this newish kid on the block (launched just over a year ago) also deserves credit for their success thus far.

Healthy Cash Game Network

With so many players flocking to the cash game tables at WPT Global every day, it means you’re guaranteed to find action at your preferred stake, whatever your bankroll. This in itself is a definite plus for the site, but offering up numerous alternative poker variants – including the increasingly trendy Short Deck Hold’em (6+), for example – as well as introducing fast-paced Splash games (with juicy preflop antes) that are sure to be a hit is a nice touch.

Throw in deep stacks, straddles and bankroll-boosting bomb-pots to spice up proceedings, and it’s easy to see why so many players like sticking around at WPT Global.

There’s even a determined effort to help newcomers and recreational players feel more at home, not least by monitoring the distribution of players so that you’ll not find yourself at a table with hardened pros (a measure which, of course, can also work to the advantage of said pros).

Display Chips in Big Blinds

It’s become an accepted convention over the years when talking about poker to refer to stacks in terms of Big Blinds. With this in mind, calculating during a hand can be inconvenient enough – especially with limited time – without having to convert your stack from, say, $29 in a 10c/20c cash game to 145BB while sitting with a straight draw on a dangerous looking flop against multiple opponents. Problem solved! Unless you enjoy unnecessary arithmetic, you can simply take advantage of a nifty feature at WPT Global that lets you see your chips in Big Blinds. Every little helps…

Improved Side Games

However exciting poker is, some people are just never satisfied! If you’re one of them, and you get bored or impatient in between hands, you’re in for some extra action thanks to WPT Global’s side games at cash tables. This includes Hole Card Betting that allows you to place side bets on what you’ll be dealt in the next hand. Could it be Ace-high at 6.5/1, any pair (16/1) or, for the pessimist, no Ace, King or Pair at 1.4/1 (even being dealt trash can be profitable!)

Americas Cardroom is a typical – and impressive – example of modern-day poker. However much of a ground-breaking phenomenon real money online poker was when it first appeared a couple of decades ago, the industry – and the way in which poker is accessed and experienced – has come a long way since. It’s amusing to think that being able to play in a Sit & Go game with five other poker fans from other countries was so novel and exciting, when today it’s routine for countless people from around the globe to battle it out for literally millions of dollars in regular, weekly fixtures!

The magic of poker streaming

Technology brought opportunities for the masses to interconnect across various platforms, allowing individuals to host live broadcasts of their own adventures in online poker tournaments or Texas Hold’em cash games, or whatever proves popular. We could be forgiven for thinking that hordes of would-be poker gods might prefer to play rather than sit for hours watching others live the experience, but poker streaming has turned out to be extremely popular and – perhaps surprisingly – entertaining. Given that the most successful streamers tend to be good players with an ability to communicate their thought processes, it follows that watching streamers can also help players improve.

At ACR, for instance, you’ll find a band of dedicated merry streamers… these are Twitch.tv regulars who fly the ACR flag while they play and invite the public to watch, and who are known collectively as ACR Stormers. Tune in, and not only can you be entertained, inspired and hopefully pick up useful tricks and advice to help add momentum to your poker quest, but you can also take advantage of daily giveaways, hand reviews and much more.

Could you be an ACR Stormer?

Meanwhile, if you fancy being part of the stable of ACR Stormers yourself, you can simply apply for a place on the Stream Team so that you, too, can share your enthusiasm and maybe a touch of poker wisdom with your fellow poker fans.

As long as you have something to offer – are you an Omaha whiz kid, for example? – you could be the perfect streaming candidate…

Finally, everyone likes a good deal (and we don’t just mean getting aces, but that’s good, too), so check out the latest online poker bonuses and offers in our info section and make the most of your poker time.

Good luck at the tables, and have fun!

Rewarding poker players for their loyalty has been a key feature of real money online poker right from the beginning, with a points-based system established as convenient for both an operator and its customers. Of course, an increasingly competitive market means online poker providers must enhance their offers now and then, resulting in welcome extras for players.

For their part, Juicy Stakes Poker are doing their bit as they continue to attract poker fans across the spectrum that ranges from newcomers and recreational players to no-nonsense, serious grinders. Juicy Stakes uses so-called Frequent Player Points (FPPs) as loyalty rewards, and players can earn them when grinding away at Texas Hold’em or Omaha cash tables, battling it out in online poker tournaments and via selected Juicy Casino games.

Triple Your FPPs During Happy Hour

The latest promotion at the impressively user-friendly Juicy Stakes is Happy Hour, which gives players a chance, during specific periods, to earn FPPs at triple the speed!

Promotions that require players to do nothing more than have fun at the tables are arguably the best kind, and this fits the bill perfectly. Cash games players can take advantage every day between 8-14 May when, during Happy Hours, you can earn extra FPPs on top of what you’d normally earn while playing. And there’s no limit on how many FPPs you can earn!

Good luck at the tables, and have fun!

While it’s true that modern society can see all sorts of bizarre and sometimes unpleasant trends crop up under the guise of fashionable thought, the world of  real money online poker can be relied upon to be pretty accurate when it comes to what poker variants or game formats are the most popular.

As far as online poker tournaments are concerned, every poker fan and his/her dog seems to have at least tried Bounty tournaments at some point in their journey. Indeed, for many, this particular type of game is a firm favourite, with converts migrating from Texas Hold’em and Omaha cash tables and Sit & Go games to go bounty-hunting…

When Knockout tournaments first appeared in online poker, some operators acted quicker than others in their efforts to both accurately anticipate and subsequently satisfy potential (and now very real) demand, with PokerStars in particular having its finger on the poker pulse. That a tournament format which allows players to win money in the form of rewards for eliminating their rivals, without even having to make the actual prizes, might seem rather obvious. But the battle to attract players means putting together an overall KO tournament player experience that is both entertaining and practical, which is easier said than done.

PokerStars has managed to find an excellent balance, and if you’re yet to have had the pleasure, then you might wish to get involved in their latest Knockout venture, namely their Bounty Builder Week which, for those in France, Spain, Portugal and Italy, will be an extra special treat.

Exclusively devoted to fast-paced Progressive KO (PKO) action, this week-long (7-14 May) series boasts €1,750,000 in total guaranteed prize money.

Players in France, Spain and Portugal can make the most of an enhanced schedule of PKO events, with over €1,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools up for grabs. Sunday’s opening headliner is the €100,000 GTD 8-Max Sunday Major, while there are four events every night, including the €50,000 GTD Primetime Battle. The week culminates with the €200,000 GTD Main Event on 14 May…

Meanwhile, those in Italy can look forward to PKO tournaments being added to the weekly schedule during Bounty Builder Week, the festival paying out over €750,000 in total guaranteed prize money and some tasty bounties to be had. Note that the Bounty Builder Week Main Event comes with a €150,000 guarantee!

We’re finally into May, which means we’re closer and closer to more PokerListings live poker tournament action! Our usual day-to-day business, of course, revolves around helping our community navigate their way around the world of real money online poker by providing news and information and putting together the latest online poker bonuses and offers in our dedicated info section.

However, we’re proud to say that our venture throwing the PokerListings name into the live poker ring has proved very successful, and it’s also great fun to be associated with prestigious names in the poker world.

The latest instalment is the final leg – on 7 May – of the PokerListings Ranking Series in the luxurious surroundings of top quality hosts Portomaso Casino Malta. As the series reaches its climax there’s still plenty to play for, thanks to the fact that the overall series winner will earn a €550 seat to the megabucks The Festival Malta Main Event and the runner-up a spot in the PokerListings Deepstack Championship, both tournaments being part of the packed schedule at the Portomaso (14-21 May).

There’s also a guaranteed €5,000 prize pool to play for in this fun-filled, €130+20 buy-in event. Indeed, don’t be surprised to see the guarantee smashed once again, given the popularity of the series since the opener late last year, when 28 nationalities took part…

PokerListings Championship: May 14-17

We’re proud that our PokerListings Championship is now an established fixture at The Festival, and excited that this latest edition, a €250 buy-in event, will this year take pride of place as the series opener! It’s also interesting to see that the title of PokerListings Champion is a sought-after accolade, given the numbers involved in the battle for the title.

Expect this tournament to draw in the punters, with the 383 entries seen at the Nottingham fixture earlier this year – won by Colin Lovelock – setting an impressive target.

Good luck at the tables, and have fun!

In the old days, when real money online poker was still in its infancy, the poker purists at the time might have waxed lyrical about Limit Hold’em, with the eager student able to read up on countless strategy articles focusing on such delights as bet sizing measured in fractions of big blinds.

Today’s young guns, brought up on a diet of nerves and brinkmanship in an environment filled with online poker tournament rollercoaster rides, might well find this difficult to believe. This is because the landscape has certainly undergone considerable change over the years, with No-Limit Hold’em eventually emerging as a player favourite to the point that you’d be hard-pressed to find Limit games nowadays.

Given the modern thirst for action, it should come as no surprise that Omaha is now a well-established variant, not least due to the fact that, for many, using four hole cards means double the fun.

Some online poker operators feature Omaha more than others but, for their part, WPT Global are definitely tuned into to what players want – introducing PLO Launch Week which, whether you’re a diehard Omaha fan or simply thinking about giving this exciting variant a try, is well worth getting involved.

Get ready for an Omaha feast, with two huge promotions to enjoy, kicking off on 8 May.

PLO Leaderboards

From 15 May (from 00:00 ET), WPT Global are giving away $15,000 per week in prizes via a special Leaderboard. Throughout the week, for every 100 PLO cash game hands players will receive tickets for a raffle that has $15,000 up for grabs every single week.

PLO Bonus Hours

As well as being able to earn tickets all week, players can take advantage of Bonus Hours that will run between 18:00-22:00 ET every night and reward double points for every 100 hands played!

KO a Pro

From 8-15 May, any player who either felts a pro (takes all of their chips) or doubles up completely through a pro and then posts a screenshot on any of WPT Global’s social media platforms with the hashtag #4cardfrenzy will receive a $110 Sunday Slam ticket as a reward! Simply search WPT Global on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and you’re good to go to begin your mission…

4-Card Frenzy Freeroll

Any player who racks up 100 hands of PLO between 8-15 May will be awarded a ticket for the $5000 GTD 4-Card Frenzy Freeroll (held at 17:00 ET, 14 May).

Good luck at the tables, and have fun!

People are into real money online poker for all sorts of reasons. Some are happy to test themselves at the Texas Hold’em or Omaha cash tables in a sort of intellectual challenge, others dream of hitting a life-changing Sit & Go jackpot, and others play online poker tournaments for the thrills and spills or, maybe, in a quest for fame and fortune.

Americas Cardroom has something for everyone – as any online poker operator should, of course. It’s important for a provider to appeal to those across the spectrum of poker fans, from beginners and hobbyists to the more serious, profit-oriented players.

A successful and proven approach tends to come in the shape of a varied tournament offering, and coming up with fixtures that have a universal appeal helps.

When ACR introduced two new Sunday multi-flight tournaments not long ago, they certainly delivered on this front. As is usual with this forward-thinking cardroom, players’ varying bankroll sizes were taken into account so that everyone gets a taste of decent tournaments. In this case the options are a $2.50 buy-in event with a tasty $10,000 guaranteed prize pool, and a $66 buy-in tournament boasting a guaranteed $150,000 to battle away for.

Multi-Tabling Means Double the Fun at ACR

Not accidentally, the $10,000 GTD tournament runs along the very same weekly Day 1 Flights set-up as the popular Sunday Squeeze, so it offers players a perfect opportunity to multi-table without having the annoying problem of having to keep adjusting between contrasting formats. Note that Day 2 is every Sunday at 6:05pm ET.

Meanwhile, the $150,000 GTD fixture also has dozens of weekly Day 1 Flights, with Day 2 taking place every Sunday at 5:30pm ET. Appreciating that this or that start time will have varying degrees of convenience depending on where in the world players live, ACR have made sure to feature Day 1’s for both tournaments that are designed for poker fans across all time zones.

And bankroll considerations have been addressed, too, so those smaller bankrolled players who don’t want to be limited to playing just the $10,000 event can take advantage of a host of affordable daily satellites for the $66 buy-in tournament. It’s a great time to play poker…

The Eurasian Poker Tour (EAPT) is celebrating its tenth anniversary this season with big changes planned for the 2023/24 season.

For players looking for reasonably priced poker tournament series over the past 10 years, the Eurasian Poker Tour (EAPT) has been the go-to tour. With the first ever EAPT event in Kyiv and stops in places like the Caribbean and Kazakhstan, the first ten years of the tour have made it one of the most well-known festivals for mid-stakes players in Europe and Asia.

With the 2023/24 season marking the tenth anniversary for the tour, there are some changes in store. While the operators plan to stay with a recreational-friendly €560 Main Event for most stops, there will also be live and online qualifiers for live events, partnership with Luxon Pay to facilitate easy funds transfers and payments, and cash games on-site during festivals from €1/€2 to €50/€100.

Additionally, the new season has confirmed stops in the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, and the UK among others. The 10th-anniversary year will also feature a season-ending Grand Final at Merit Diamond Resort in North Cyprus featuring a $2,750 game.

EAPT Birthday Year Stops in Malta, Cyprus, UK and More

The newest season of the EAPT includes the northernmost tour stop announced to date, in Nottingham, UK, as well as the southernmost in Malta. While it is expected that more locations will be added as the season progresses, there are already a few exciting confirmed spots in Europe and Asia for the new season.

Confirmed EAPT Stops for 2023/24

  • EAPT Rozvadov – King’s Resort, Czech Republic – June 21-26, 2023
  • EAPT Milan – Imperium, Italy – July 8-17, 2023
  • EAPT Barcelona – Casino Barcelona , Spain – September 29 – October 9, 2023
  • EAPT UK – Dusk Till Dawn, Nottingham, UK – dates tbc
  • EAPT Malta – Casino Portomaso, Malta – April 3-8, 2024
  • EAPT Grand Final – Merit Royal Diamond, Northern Cyprus – April, 2024

In order to make the tour as recreational-friendly as possible, the games will take place several days before and during the weekend, meaning recreational players who work will still have a decent shot at games in a given series. Additionally, the EAPT schedule is designed to give players a chance to explore the iconic European and Asian locations including the pubs of Nottingham, the shops in Milan, the bustle of Barcelona, the rambling forest walks of Rozvadov, the beauty of Prague and the resort lifestyles of Malta and North Cyprus.

Eurasian Poker Tour.

Players who come to an EAPT event will have a pretty good idea what to expect. Organizers have set up a basic structure for the tour giving players a solid idea of when the games they want to play will be happening, no matter where the tour lands.

Structure of an EAPT Series

  • Days 1-3: EAPT CUP for €250 and satellites to the High Roller
  • Days 3-4: EAPT High Roller for €1,100
  • EAPT Main Event Day 1s for €560 and satellites
  • Days 5-6: Main Event concludes along with a closing tournament

Luxon Pay Partnership Means Players Need No Cash

The EAPT is partnering with Luxon Pay for the upcoming season, which will make buy-ins and currency transfer much easier for players attending festivals. Luxon Pay is among the most popular eWallet solutions for the poker world, and allows users to hold up to 10 currencies and instant exchange.

Additionally, players can use the app to directly buy into EAPT events and take advantage of commission-free cash outs via bank transfer (SEPA Zone), SWIFT, or through the original payment option. The Luxon Pay app can be funded through many means, including MasterCard and VISA meaning there is no need for poker players to carry cash to events anymore.

See the EAPT main page for more details on the upcoming birthday season.

For some, May 4th has a special significance as Star Wars Day (as in ‘May the 4th be with you’ …), but as far as real money online poker is concerned it’s the day that sees the beginning of the hotly anticipated MILLIONS Online KO, which partypoker will be hosting until 30th of May.

Featuring 10 progressive knockout numbered events with buy-ins ranging from $55 to $530, this popular series will see over $1.9 million being won once the dust has settled, including a $500,000 guaranteed Main Event. Given that the United Kingdom is both a leading global financial hub and a country with a healthy attitude to gambling and betting that is emulated around the world, it’s natural that any significant development in its gambling infrastructure is going to have considerable influence on the industry around the world.

Numerous big name gambling companies are based in the UK or are UK-facing, and in the case of real money online poker this is especially true. If a potentially game-changing legal shift in the gambling landscape happens in the UK, it’s safe to say that the reverberations will be felt around the world.

With this in mind, our attention is drawn to the UK where, this week, it was announced that after prolonged and what many consider long overdue considerations involving the Government and the Gambling Commission, there will be the biggest shake-up of the gambling industry since 2005.

The gambling industry, now that it is so universally acceptable (a soundbite that has already been repeated countless times is how it’s now possible to “carry a casino around in your pocket”) is very much different to what it was back in 2005, and a world apart from the pre-internet days when some of the more fundamental rules and guidelines were hammered out and set in law.

Moreover, the whole sector is also going to always provoke serious debate, with those in the laissez faire camp on one side, not wishing to interfere with an industry that is a source of entertainment for millions that provides employment for many and a significant level of revenue for the UK Treasury, and the more liberal lobby who deem the risk to the potential and actual victims of gambling as the most important factor.

The two sides of the ‘argument’ – inasmuch as there is one – will never agree, so a compromise of some sorts is key. It’s no surprise, then, that the publication of the Gambling Commission’s advice it compiles for the Government as part of the Gambling Review is bound to receive both criticism and praise in equal measure. For some it goes too far, while for others not far enough. This is indeed a classic example of not being able to please all of the people, all of the time…

What Will the Gambling Industry Changes Be?

Precisely how and when the proposed changes will come into being remains unclear, although it will probably be some time in 2024. As for the advice itself, it’s not difficult to guess that much of it revolves around the relationship between accessibility and the risk to vulnerable customers, while at the same time seeking to keep in place an environment that doesn’t impinge on the vast majority, and ensures that everyone is treated fairly and not subjected to overly inhibiting rules.

What Can Poker Fans Expect?

As far as poker players are concerned, we can pinpoint the relevant elements among the Commission’s proposed advice, suggested legislative adjustments and a rafter of commitments for strengthening requirements on operators, with the more potentially troublesome results already being experienced by poker fans. Specifically, these are those instances when someone might deposit in greater frequency and larger amounts than is usual for them, and as a consequence are subject to various checks and, in some cases, restrictions on their accounts. We can expect this to become much more commonplace, with numbers thrown around in this week’s announcement along the lines of a £500 loss in one day, or £2000 during a month, for example, as sufficient to trigger these checks and ‘proof of funds’ and so on. Clearly, this is much easier said than done, not least because the suggested figures don’t carry the same meaning from player to player, but we can be to some extent reassured by the Gambling Commission’s choice of language on this matter, which is “…frictionless checks that are not disruptive for consumers” – not disrupting players is an imperative if the online poker eco-system is going to continue to flourish.

Meanwhile, the poker world continues to turn, and if you want to make sure that you get as much from the game as you can, then check out the latest online poker bonuses and offers in our regularly updated info section.

Spring can be a hugely competitive time in the online poker landscape: you have series like the Spring Championship of Online Poker and others running huge-field and mammoth buy-in events. So, it takes an extra-special online series to battle with them and provide a great value online poker series for players.

The Festival Online did just that, smashing its $1 million guarantee and giving recreational and low-stakes players a chance to compete and battle. In a series that ran for almost a month, we saw over a tournament ado that drew 16,000 poker players in a series that ran for nearly a month.

It also gave a ton of value back to the online grinder, as some events like the Main Event didn’t hit the lofty $200,000 guarantee. Despite that, well over half of the events surpassed the guarantees – this includes the widely popular Texas PKO 8-Max, which had over 1,200 runners and added $39,450 to the $150,000 guarantee.

Mystery Bounties Crush in The Festival Online

The most-entered tournaments during The Festival saw mostly Mystery Bounties, ranging from the Micro Mystery Bounty Closing Event, which had 1,636, to the Mystery Bounty Mini Opening Event, which brought in 1,373 on the first day of the Festival Online.

Four of the six most popular tournaments during the Festival Online series were Mystery Bounty events, which showed favourability with many low-stakes recreational players who wanted to get their hands on that golden virtual envelope.

Texas PKO Blowing Expectations With $40,000 Prizepool Boost

The Texas PKO ultimately became one of the most popular Festival Online events, as the structure drove action, gave plenty of re-entry opportunities, and gave players immediate prize returns. The Texas PKO brought 888poker ambassadors in the mix, including Vivian “vivi.888.” Saliba and Ian “Simpioni” Simpson and the overall prizepool smashed the $150,000 by reaching $189,450 when the dust had settled.

PKOs, or Progressive Knockout tournaments, have proved to be one of the most popular online tournament formats, and their success of them during the Festival Online cements this.

“777CCC343” Leads German Domination.

The Festival Online drew a massive amount of runners from Brazil and Germany, with the Brazilians securing a huge six Festival Online victories. German online grinder “777CCC343” captured two titles throughout after they won the $5,000 Mystery PLO Bounty Opening Event and then captured the $3,000 Micro PLO 8-Max just seven days later.

We also saw Malta bag titles courtesy of WPT DeepStacks Champion “Farrugia_1”. At the same time, Lithuania’s “samsungas” almost brought home two Festival Online titles in one day, as he won the $12,000 Texas PKO and came 2nd in the $10,000 Texas LowRoller.

Latvia’s Hero is “latvianhero1” After Festival Online Main Event Win

Latvia is the current home of the Festival Online Main Event after “latvianhero1” got past 863 players to win the most significant event on the schedule.

From April 6 – 10, those players fired Day 1s to try and be in the final 96 who would battle for the title and top cash prize. Some notable names who made Day 2 included 888poker ambassador Vivian “vivi.888.” Saliba and online MTT end boss Jerry “Perrymejsen” Odeen, both of whom busted in 50th and 13th, respectively.

The final hand in the Festival Online.

In the end, it would be Lithuania’s “Artur1965”, Romania’s “Getoverhere” and Lativa’s “latvianhero1” fighting for the biggest prizes of the series. “Artur1965 would exit in third for $13,460 before the heads-up battle ended after just ten minutes.

When “Getoverhere” got 10 10 and “latvianhero1” was dealt J J , there was going to be blood. After it went open, 3-bet, 4-bet, and a quick call, the tournament would end, and the title would go to Latvia.

With the real money online poker sector enjoying such robust health, the pressure is on for online poker operators to not only up their game if they might be behind the curve, but to continue being competitive, which is easier said than done. A comprehensive offering that includes something for everyone – from Texas Hold’em and Omaha cash tables at a wide range of stakes, to varied Sit & Go games and a host of online poker tournament formats – is standard nowadays, so it’s incumbent on poker rooms to not only cover all bases but come up with new ideas or a new take on this or that feature.

Juicy Stakes Poker continues to impress in their quest to champion  recreational and less experienced players while at the same time giving the more serious grinders a reason to choose this progressive operator, which also has an all-singing, all-dancing casino.

The latest addition to the poker menu comes in the form of Multi-buy Tournaments – a great new take on the tournament experience. The idea is to allow (literally!) unlimited rebuys – specifically in multiple blocks of chips, and, crucially, at any time! And this can be done without breaking the bank, so that players can enjoy the thrills and spills of No Limit competition with extra flexibility.

Here are some of the key features of Multi-buy Tournaments:

  • Players can purchase multiples of 500 chips, and at any time they wish.
  • Chips can be purchased mid-hand, the amount requested being added at the start of the next hand.
  • There are no antes in this format.
  • A player losing all their chips who does not rebuy within the allocated time will be sat out and given an opportunity to rebuy.
  • After leaving the tournament, a player cannot return.

More Fun, More Strategy Options

Being able to add to your stack at will during a tournament without first having to lose your chips is a novel twist on the format that is sure to make poker sessions even more fun. But it also means you have more strings added to your bow in that it introduces options that are usually not available, and gives players a chance to put their skills to better use by adapting to the new terrain.

Meanwhile, however ‘seriously’ you take poker, it always makes sense to make the most of opportunities, so have a look at the latest online poker bonuses and offers that we’ve put together in our info section.

Good luck at the tables, and have fun!
