Ontario Poker Championships – A partypoker Online Series.

Ontario, the biggest province in Canada, regulated poker has gotten off to a slower start than expected due to the licensing regulations. However, this fall partypoker got the opportunity to spice things up as they are set to launch their first online series for Ontario players only – the Ontario Poker Championships.

Any Ontarian Can Win

This series is set to run between September 11 and September 26. Consisting of 74 events with a buy-in range from as low as C$1,10 up to C$530. Satellites are already running with buy-ins as low as C$0,75 giving everyone the opportunity to their fair share of over C$500 000 in guaranteed prize money.

In this big line-up of amazing tournaments most eyes will be directed to Event #73-High - the 2-day Main Event. With multiple day 1’s where you bring your best stack with you to day 2, this C$109 buy-in and C$50 000 guaranteed Main Event will be the highlight of the series. There are of course also a Main Event-Medium with a buy-in of C$22 and C$10 000 guarantee as well as a Main Event-Low with a buy-in of C$5,50 and C$5000 guarantee. Here are a table of other Ontario Poker Championship highlights to check out:

Another popular tournament found in many of the global series held on PartyPoker’s main client are the Weekender tournaments, and Ontario players will be pleased to see them in this schedule.  Running on the 2nd and 3rd weekends of the series, players will find huge value as the $55 buy-ins on the high tournament come with a C$15k guarantee. With four day 1’s to get in – 3 at regular speed and a turbo flight, players that get knocked out early will have multiple chances to find a bag for day 2.

PKO’s Every Day

While the series features only no-limit hold’em tournaments, PKO fans will be targeting the plethora of knockout tournaments in the line-up as one is featured in the schedule every single day. Some of the PKO’s will have faster blinds, meaning the action could be very fierce on the tables as players go after big bounties.

High Rollers

One of the more interesting parts to the series is the high roller tournaments with buy-ins of C$320 and C$530.  The 12 tournaments are all scheduled to start at 7:05pm and carry most of the guarantees in the series - over C$180k.  Party will be looking to the highest of high rollers the province has to offer. But the player with a smaller bankroll do not have to feel left out since they have a chance to get into these high rollers through C$2 Spins that are currently available on the site.

A Series That Marks the Beginning

The people of Ontario have finally had the pleasure of playing at partypoker for a few months now ever since partypoker successfully registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Comission of Ontario (AGCO). This due to licensing regulations which puts a virtual fence around the Ontarian players meaning that they will only play against other people located in Ontario whilst playing on partypoker.

Even though PartyPoker was quick out of the gate being one of the first sites to regulate and convert to the Ontario market, they have not held a series like this before. This will, if successful, hopefully set a mark for the beginning of many tournament series to come for the Ontario players, and if you get a chance to play any of the events, take it.

Have fun!
