Mikalai Vaskaboinikau Reaches the Heads-Up of the $100K Main Event Triton Montenegro For the Second Year In a Row

Last year, the Belarusian businessman and poker lover Mikalai Vaskaboinikau took down this tournament for $4,737,000. This time, he fell just short, finishing 2nd to Jesse Lonis in heads-up play.

The deal in the $100K Main Event Triton Montenegro was finally struck on the third attempt

Vaskaboinikau entered the final day with just 10 BB and made the final table with 35 BB.

One of the most critical hands for him is attached to this post: during 9-handed play, with a 25 BB pot.

At the final table, Vaskaboinikau knocked out three more opponents:

  • 8th – Fedor Holz: 97o > A9o in an 8 BB pot, a 7 hit the river.
  • 6th – Stephen Chidwick: they got it in on a 10 4 2 flop. Vaskaboinikau hit a set with 2 2 , Chidwick had an overpair with Q Q . The pot was 59 BB.
  • 5th – Ramin Hajiyev: A5o > 99 in a 23 BB pot. Vaskaboinikau hit trips on the river.

At 3-handed, stacks were nearly even — 35–39 BB each. They discussed a deal, but couldn’t reach an agreement.

At one point, Lonis was down to 14 BB but doubled twice through Vaskaboinikau: JJ > AKo and AQs > QTo.

Kiat Lee finished 3rd, losing a flip with A7o vs T8s (26 BB pot) against Jesse Lonis.

In heads-up, Vaskaboinikau started with 8 BB, Lonis with 37 BB. They tried to make a deal again — but still no agreement.

Heads-up lasted just two hands:

J6s > A2s — Vaskaboinikau doubled

Then a deal was struck. They left $125K to play for.

KTo > QJs — Lonis claimed his second Triton title this series.

Matthias Eibinger wins fourth Triton trophy in $50K NLH Turbo Bounty Quattro ($891K)

The 32-year-old Matthias Eibinger started his poker career playing Hyper Turbo Sit & Gos — knowledge from those early games now helps him crush at Triton events, where three of his four titles have come in Turbo tournaments.

Matthias Eibinger

Four time Triton champion feels obviously amazing, but the fact that I won three of them in turbos is the part that I actually enjoy the most. It’s so fun. Whenever it’s short, I enjoy it so much. And now three of my four titles are turbos. It’s a good fit.
