LivePoker App: The interview with the Founder Georges Djen

Today, we’re going to introduce you to a live poker application that’s been making a real deal in the live poker scene in recent months. If you’re a player who’s always wanted to keep up to date with the latest poker news and tournaments, then you’re about to discover a tool that could radically change the way you find information and approach live poker! In this article, you’ll discover the features of this application available on Android and Apple, as well as an exclusive interview with its founder: Georges Djen.

The LivePoker app: what does it do?

As a poker player, I have to say that I was particularly impressed by the efficiency and ergonomics of the application. Available for download from Google Play and the App Store, the LivePoker application offers you a host of live poker-related features, all in a highly polished English and French versions.

Once you’ve created your account, you’ll be able to consult several well-organized sections on the application:

A comprehensive list of casinos

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be able to consult a list of all the casinos offering poker tournaments worldwide! Whether you’re on vacation in Las Vegas, Bucharest or Spain, you’ll have access to an impressive list of casinos.

For each of them, you’ll be able to find out about upcoming tournaments, as well as access results, chipcounts and clocks for current tournaments. A filter system is also available to help you find out about tournaments and casinos in your area!

A calendar of events

From the home page, you can access a comprehensive calendar of all current and upcoming poker festivals. For each festival taking place in real time, you can click on it to find out which tournament or tournaments are currently being played.

If you’d like to know more about a tournament, simply click on it to see the live clock, prizepool, number of players per table, starting stack, length of levels and buy-in!
Several other tabs are also available for tournament progress, giving you the chance to consult the chipcount in real time, the payout and the coverage provided by the LivePoker team. If you’d like to be kept up to date with future information on this tournament, simply bookmark it and wait for notifications!

The news

To keep up to date with the latest poker news, a news tab is available directly from the application! This means you won’t have to go hunting for news on the Internet to find what you’re looking for.
What’s more, news is sorted by theme and by country (France, USA, Poker Life, Online…), making it much easier to find the information you’re looking for! If you’d like to share a news item with friends and family, you can post it directly to social networks (X, Facebook…) via the “share” button.

Ranking and player tracking system

Finally, a ranking is available in a dedicated section. All players on the circuit are represented, and a points system is used to establish a ranking based on their performance. You can also track any player, be they your friends or your favorite players, to find out their ROI, their best performances, as well as their total number of ITMs.

What’s more, each player can share photos of their stack in real time, or post about how they’re feeling at the moment. All this information can then be viewed and commented on by followers, just like a real social network!

Interview with the founder: Georges Djen

Having tried out the application, which seems to be a real success, I wanted to find out more about the man behind this bold project. So here’s an interview with the founder of the LivePoker application: Georges Djen.

Can you tell us what the LivePoker application is all about? And what needs does it meet in the poker world?

Before I start, I’d like to give you a little background on the project. As you know, I’ve been working in the poker world for 20 years, and I’m passionate about sports, particularly sports betting. And in sports, you can see the live action directly via live results applications. So I thought it was pretty crazy that this model had never existed in poker! Sometimes you have to wait several days for results, or even more than a week on Hendon Mob.

Similarly, for poker coverages, there can be quite a bit of latency when it comes to posts. Between the time the journalist sees the move and the time it’s written, it can take an hour, and the player has time to bust or double up 10 times. Also, I thought it was a shame that during these coverages, we could only talk about the headliners. So I thought of designing an application based on the same principle as sports websites that give all the news live.

Georges Djen

Of course, these days, you can find out what’s going on at the really big festivals like the WSOP or EPT, but for the smaller festivals, it’s complicated, and that’s where the LivePoker app comes in!

The app allows enthusiasts to consult live results for tournaments taking place all over the world (clocks, qualifiers, lefts, calendar, rankings…).
For example, if you want to know how a tournament is going that a friend of yours is playing, you can consult the application and find out where he or she stands, live! The goal is to bring together everything that’s happening in the poker world, from small French poker rooms to the WSOP.

Right now, there’s no poker app in the world that can do that, except ours!

How has it been received since its launch?

There was an initial test launch at the WSOP Paris at Jean Bouin in May 2024, but the real launch was at the WSOP 2024, so just over a year ago. Over time, we’ve added sections such as news, notification systems and rankings, and now it’s really complete!

More precisely, my goal was to make the application progress over time. Quite a lot of publicity has been done, but it’s mainly word-of-mouth and the app’s usability that have made it a success. The app becomes totally indispensable to those who download it. At a glance, you can see which events you’ll be playing in the coming weeks, details of a festival… and when you play your tournament, each player can update his own chipcount, publish details of his move in the feed, or a photo of his stack, for example. Everyone contributes to the coverage! Which is much appreciated.

What is the long-term vision/goal for this mobile application?

The objectives are simple: to bring the whole world together on the app as far as tournament poker is concerned. The goal is to be able to communicate precisely on every tournament in the world, whether it’s a Grand Prix in Pornic, the French Championships in Aix, the EPT in Barcelona, the WSOP-E in Rozvadov, or even what’s happening in Australia!

You see, compared with an app like the one developed by the WSOP this year, the LivePoker app covers ALL the year’s tournaments. Not just the 100 events in June and July.

Will there be any developments or major updates to the app in the future?

We’re already way ahead of the game, in the sense that we’re the only ones who can send notifications.

Let me give you an example: if you bookmark a tournament that’s taking place at Club Circus tonight, you’ll receive a notification for the shuffle up and deal, a notification for Late Registration, or information about the tournament chipleader that evening, or the next morning at the most! Just as you’re notified when Dembele scores a goal for PSG.
None of this exists elsewhere, so we’re already way ahead of the game. What’s more, if you click on a casino listed in our application, you’ll be able to see all the tournaments taking place over the next 6 months.

Also, if you click on a player, you’ll be able to see his track record and ROI. We’re the ONLY company in the world to be able to list ROIs. It includes all a player’s results, whether positive or negative, giving you very precise assessments of each player. So, without context, it’s the most advanced application in the world, by a long, long way!

Do you already have any big-name poker players registered on your app?

Georges Djen

Nearly 50% of the best-known players in France have already created an account on the app, which is already a great result! Having an account means you can take part in the coverage, announce yourself in a tournament, bookmark your players or events so you can follow them, receive notifications…

Without having communicated internationally, many players sign up regularly from Spain, Brazil, the US, even Korea, without us knowing how they discovered us!

For example, world number 1 Jesse Lonis has an account with us, as do Joao Vieira and many other bracelet holders. There’s a general craze for the app that’s become completely exponential!
