This year's PokerListings Spirit of Poker Awards had a massive roster of nominees and it was no easy feat for Humberto Brenes, Anatoly Filatov and Charlie Carrel to come out on top. Brenes won the award for Living Legend, Filatov took Most Inspirational Player and Carrel was this year's Rising Star. The SOPAs are a special kind of award. They're not about how much money you've won or how many bracelets on on your wrist, although all three of our winners have had tons of success. The SOPAs are about players who love the game of poker and put their blood, sweat and tears into it. Both Humberto Brenes and Anatoly Filatov were able to attend the PokerListings Battle of Malta to receive their awards in person but unfortunately Charlie Carrel wasn't able to make it and had to settle for receiving his in the mail. Check out the video to hear from the winners themselves and to learn more about the PokerListings Spirit of Poker Awards.
The PokerListings Spirit of Poker Awards isn't about how much money you've won or how many bracelets are on your wrist. It's about the love of the game. It's about the time, the effort and the sweat. It's about the spirit.

Humberto Brenes – The Living Legend

Humberto Brenes brings a big personality and a ton of experience to the table every time he sits down. He's been playing poker tournaments for over 40 years and in that time he's won two WSOP bracelets, made the final table of the Main Event and earned one of the longest lists of cashes in the poker world.

Most importantly, Humberto was a TV poker celebrity that caught people's attention. After 40 years in the game he hasn't slowed down a bit.

Anatoly Filatov – The Most Inspiring Player

Anatoly Filatov absolutely crushed the online voting to win this year's Most Inspiring Player award and for the last few years he's been crushing the European live tournament scene too.

Since 2012 he's had four different six-figure scores and racked up a huge list of cashes but he's had an even bigger impact online as one of the most interactive and engaged pros in the exploding Russian poker world.

Charlie Carrel – The Rising Star

British poker player Charlie Carrel's career started with a $15 deposit on PokerStars. In less than a year his bankroll had reached over $500,000.

Carrel then made the jump to live tournaments and in his first 18 months he's already racked up over $1.6 million in winnings. Carrel says he's obsessed with poker and it shows.

Congratulations to the 2015 Spirit of Poker Awards winners!
