Fatima De Melo Can't Believe How Crazy Battle of Malta Players Are

Fatima Moreira De Melo was in Malta last week for the EPT, flew home to Holland and then returned days later to compete in the Battle of Malta. She had no idea how much things had changed. With a buy-in of roughly 10 per cent that of the EPT, the Battle of Malta attracts a bit of a different crowd. Let's call it a more recreational crowd. Point being, in this tournament you shouldn't be surprised when your opponent calls you down with bottom pair, or over-bet shoves for 100 big blinds with a hand most pros wouldn't think twice about chucking in the muck. According to De Melo that equals a big opportunity, provided you have a bit of rungood on your side. Fatima and Maria Ho commiserate over the ups and downs of this kind of event and agree that Malta is an amazing place to visit for poker, both for the action on the felt and the fun to be had away from it. De Melo made it through her Day 1 heat and returns on Day 2 to make a run at the money and hopefully the final table.
