Phil Collins

Phil Collins isn't the son of the famous drummer from Genesis, as is sometime rumored. He is, however, named after him.

They even have the same middle name - David.

As Collins explains it, his Mom just really liked Phil Collins. She just didn't expect him to be famous that long.

In any case, Collins has made the name his own in the poker world.

In particular, he's a big deal in the online poker world where he's already earned more than $3.3 million.

The USC in his well known online moniker "USCphildo" is actually the University of South Carolina, not the University of Southern California.

Collins graduated from USC back in 2006 before moving into poker full-time.

It didn't take long for him to assert himself in the poker world once he took up the game full time.

He hit for some good scores very early in his career, winning the Full Tilt $1k Monday tournament and a PokerStars $100 rebuy tournament  in 2008.

He's followed that up with countless online scores, including a win in the Full Tilt $1k for $89,750 in 2010 and another recent win in the Full Tilt $75k Guarantee.

In recent years he's also expanded his live game and now has at least 16 listed live cashes - six of them at the WSOP - for about $125k.

As you might expect, Collins is super popular with the 2+2 poker forum crowd and counts several online poker young guns among his close friends, including Brent Hanks and Jason Mercier.

Off the felt he says he loves all sports, especially college football and basketball.

I am rooting for this guy. He may be starting in fourth place, but his talent is more than enough to give him a fair shot at the championship. He's very exciting to watch and he's really good, too.
