Full Review

Previously known as Pacific Poker, 888poker is the flagship poker room of the world's largest online casino, 888.com. And that means lots of wild casino customers at the poker tables. Combined with big, high-value promotions, that also means a lot of Texas Hold'em players come to 888poker for juicy high-action tables and good bonuses.

The upgraded 888poker software (called POKER 6) offers players over 100 new features including improved search functions and layout, 3-D table graphics, integrated casino play, an always-visible cashier and improved multi-tabling abilities.

Other nice functions that stand out are password-protected SNGs and hand histories you can write on your hard drive and import to hand-analysis software tools. 888poker has also introduced a no-download client for Mac and Linux users.

Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud and Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo are available. Real-money player statistics as of September 2010 show 2000 ring-game players at peak hours and 8000 tournament players at peak hours.

Loyalty Program/Promotions

As of June 2009, 888poker has a brand new rewards program for its players that is one of the most lucrative online. As soon as you become a real-money player, you're automatically part of the program and your points start building with your first pocket cards.

As you play you collect both Status Points and Reward Points. The higher your status, the more Reward Points you get. Reward points can then be exchanged for real cash, tournament entries, merchandise and more.

888poker also offers reload bonuses roughly every other month. The bonuses are usually very good with a 50% deposit match up to $300-$500.  Players can also earn a $50 bonus for each referred friend while the referred player receives $25.

Tournaments and Freerolls (9)

888poker has a nice variety of tournaments, with buy-ins from $1 up to a few hundred. Tournaments are busy, fast and very loose with play at any level among the loosest and juiciest out there. Even the bigger buy-in tournaments offer relatively loose play.

Aside from its crazy loose play, 888poker is also known for its Daily Challenge series. Buy-ins range from the $12+$1.20 rebuy ($10k guarantee) on Thursdays to the flagship $75+$5 ($50k guarantee) on Saturdays to the $100+$9 High Rollers event on Tuesdays ($10k guarantee).

All tournaments draw a very solid amount of players - the $30+$3 Deep Stack on Fridays ($15k guarantee, 5,000 starting chips) in particular offers great value and play. Also drawing a lot of traffic are the frequent qualifiers to big live and online poker events like the European Poker Tour, Aussie Millions and Irish Open.

Software and Graphics (8)

In July 2010, 888Poker completed one of its biggest software updates yet - the new POKER 6 client - adding over 100 new features.

The previously OK software is now a veritable monster, offering great search functions, convenient table selection, great tiling/cascading functions for multi-tabling, instant access to the cashier, bingo and casino games and a vastly improved look and feel.

Beginners get a suggestion of six low-limit cash games and tournaments to click on in the lobby and get a seat right away. More advanced players can use the quick-seat function. Old school players can also open a classic poker-room lobby.

When multi-tabling, you can decide how you want to arrange the game windows right at the table and switch between tiling and cascading as you wish. In the tournament details there's also a list of satellite tournaments to that specific event, which is unique and very useful.

888poker has also added a no-download client with the same basic functionality as the download client. Other smart additions are the "confirm all-in" feature and an action hand replay. For a free and direct 888poker download, click the download link above.

Soft Competition (9)

888poker has some of the juiciest games online. However, the viewed-flop percentages at $15/$30 tables have dropped to about 65-70% (at best) from a previously whopping 85%.

Thanks to Casino-on-Net's operations, there are many less-experienced poker players often with a sweet tooth for gambling. At peak hours, you typically find one or two full-ring games (10 players) with a viewed-flop percentage in the 50s or 60s. If you are looking to make a profit, the Omaha Hi-Lo tables are very good as well.
