Phil Ivey's $5 Million WSOP Bracelet Bet

The PokerListings.com reporting team is on the floor shipping live updates at the WPT Championship as we speak and they just learned a juicy Phil Ivey prop bet secret.

Daniel Negreanu told PL.com reporter Martin Derbyshire about a $5 million bracelet bet between Ivey and his fellow Full Tilt bigwig Howard Lederer.

It's an even-money bet that will take place over the next two years of WSOPs. Ivey's betting that he can take down two bracelets in that time. Lederer is not convinced.

Ivey will likely play close to 80 bracelet events in that time and puts himself at better than 40 to 1 to win the average WSOP event. Considering he won two bracelets in as many weeks in 2009, and had a three-bracelet year back in 2002, two bracelets in two years is eminently achievable.

What does everyone think, who got the best of this bet? If there's one thing I've learned in the last few years, it's not to bet against Phil Ivey.

No wonder FTP can't pay it's USA players back...the owners are hording all the $$ for themselves and bets like this.

If he didn't have $5 mil riding on it he propbably wouldn't be motivated enough to win, so the bet itself makes it more likely that he'll win the bet.

Phil is THE BEST player around, and of course he is confident enough about his ability to make that bet. But 2 bracelet in 2 years nowdays is very hard to get, be cause the fields are bigger and harder to take down.
But really I wish Phil wins, he`d prove again that He is THE ONE

Lederer must think that he has a huge layover here, since if Ivey wins two bracelets in the next two years, it'll be a huge advertisement for FTP, so the site's revenues will keep growing. And that is ofc money in Lederer's pocket. So if he thinks he's somewhere even close to 50/50, he has the best of it. And ofc so does Phil. This might be a bet where no one is taking the worst of it.

Obv ivey can do this, he wont even need two years. Iveys just too good, which makes it a strange bet for howard.... maybe for publicity?

I think that everyone knows not to bet against Phil, but Howard is a close friend of phils and he may know something we dont! In saying that I would still not make that bet though..

I honestly wouldn't have taken this bet (assuming I had such money to be betting with?), I think he can do it.

I'll put up $5 on the same bet, any takers?
