Bahamas Bound: 2011 PCA Schedule Released

Atlantis, home of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

PokerStars released the schedule for its annual trip to the Bahamas Tuesday promising more than $25 million will be up for grabs on the Caribbean Island this January.

The ten-day 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure will go off Jan. 7-16 with more than 50 poker tournaments across a wide range of buy-ins, formats and variants.

The series still includes the $10,300 main event and a $25,000 High Roller, but the addition of a televised $100,000 Super High Roller is new this year.

Schedule highlights also include a $10k Turbo Six-Max tournament, a televised $5k Bounty Shootout and some type of deep sea fishing derby and poker hybrid event.

As always, the Atlantis Hotel and Casino on Paradise Island will play host to all of the action.

“The PCA is truly a Poker Player’s Paradise," said PCA Tournament Director Michael Ward.

"Each January thousands of players descend upon Atlantis to take part in the first major tournament of the year. Last year’s event produced over $24 million in total prize money and without a doubt the PCA 2011 is going to be richer than ever. The PCA is a must-play event for both the recreational and the professional player.”

More than 170 players have already qualified for the main event on PokerStars and satellites continue on the site.

The $15,780 prize package up for grabs include the main event buy-in, nine nights’ accommodation for two at Atlantis and $1,002 in spending money.

Last year 19-year-old Floridian Harrison Gimbel took home the title and $2.2 million.

Former winners also include Team PokerStars Pro Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Poorya Nazari, Ryan Daut, Steve Paul-Ambrose, John Gale and Gus Hansen.
