After Massive Week in Monaco, Klatt Eyes MonteDam Swing

German poker pro Andreas Klatt lives in the Stuttgart area and has played poker for quite a few years, both online and live.

Live poker hasn’t been much of a source of income, however.

Although he’s played all over the planet – from Rozvadov to Malta to Panama to the Bahamas to Australia – he had yet to score a really big win.

He even stopped playing live poker for several years before coming back last year to give it another serious try.

The tides have now definitely turned.

Klatt won his first live event trophy in Monaco last week and it was in the biggest tournament of the whole PokerStars Championship – the National Championship with 1,252 players.

That score was worth just over €150,000, but Klatt didn’t stop there. He bought into the main event and went all the way to the final table again, eventually finishing in second place for €402,786.

MonteDam might go Klatt’s way, too

“He’s a worthy winner,” said Tournament Director Tomas Lamatsch about him. “He was so genuinely happy when I gave him the trophy. It was great.”

Frontrunner in Amsterdam.

PokerListings recently reported on the 'new' cooperation between PokerStars and the WPT where players can win prizes for results at both poker festivals.

Of the four events that count towards the MonteDam leaderboard, Klatt has now won the first and finished runner-up in the second, which has given him a huge lead.

It seems highly unlikely that anyone will catch him even if they score in all four events so Klatt is pretty close to winning the top prize of the MonteDam promotion – a full prize package for the PSC Barcelona. The package includes main event buy-in, hotel and travel expenses and has a value of €7,500.

He needs to cash in either the Deepstacks or the Main Event in Amsterdam. Klatt travelled to Holland to try and win the prize but he missed the money in the Deepstacks event over the weekend. The Main Event begins tomorrow.

Just by participating in Amsterdam he’s already won a ticket for a $30,000 freeroll. By playing the main event he’s adding a $215 and a $109 SCOOP ticket plus another bonus prize of €1,000 if he cashes in the WPT main event.
