(Video) Joe Hachem Reflects on 2005 WSOP Win, Aussie Poker Boom

For the last ten years Joe Hachem has watched poker explode in his home country of Australia and now he looks back on the WSOP win that started it all.

In the latest episode of Best Poker Moments, Hachem reflects on winning one of the biggest poker tournaments ever and the myriad of effects his victory had.

“I get goosebumps every time I think about it. It's incredible," Hachem told PokerListings. “I've had people come up to me randomly saying, 'Thanks man. I love you. You know why? My wife let's me play poker now.'

The $7.5 million first-place prize definitely changed Hachem's life forever but it had a much bigger impact than just boosting his bankroll.

“The support I got from family and friends back home,” said Hachem. “The Crown Poker Room basically erupted. People were in tears they were telling me.

"I had played with them for a long time and they knew me and to think that one of their own went out there and took on everybody and brought home the sugar.

“It's been an amazing ride. I have absolutely zero regrets and I feel so privileged and so grateful that I've been able to experience it.”
