Kenny Hallaert’s Biography
After finishing school, Kenny Hallaert worked as an electrician. He discovered poker by chance in 2004: he wanted to place a bet on sports, saw a poker room advertisement banner, clicked on it, and registered. He started playing Pot-Limit Omaha right away because it had more action.
After discovering poker, he began studying the game through poker forums and read The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky, Winning Low Limit Hold’em by Lee Jones, and Super System by Doyle Brunson. For several months, he only studied theory and did not play.
In 2005, he made the key decision to start playing poker professionally. The main poker room at that time was Everest Poker. Hallaert played 4 tables of NL25 and NL50. Also in that year, Hallaert suffered an injury during a football match, so he spent a lot of time at home playing poker.
Only in 2007 did Hallaert begin playing tournaments. Almost immediately, he won a package to the 2008 WSOP Main Event worth $15K.

How Kenny Hallaert Became a Tournament Director
Alongside his active online grinding, Hallaert continued playing at Holland Casino. One day, he was offered a job at the Namur casino. His task was to promote poker and attract players who did not speak French.
At that time, Hallaert began organizing tournaments in Belgium. He was one of the first tournament organizers in Belgium, as back then everyone mainly played cash games. In one interview, Kenny Hallaert admitted that his work as a tournament director combined two things: his love for organization and his love for poker.
