Not so long ago GGPoker was considered to be the new kid on the block, after which there were references to the innovative poker room as the pretender to the throne… Nowadays, with, for example, milestone achievements such as hosting the world record-breaking WSOP Online Main Event in 2020, and the subsequent successful WSOP partnership, GGPoker could justifiably claim the global top spot.
GGPoker and Dusk Till Dawn: Perfect Partners
The latest partnership sees GGPoker join forces with a mighty name in UK poker, namely premier live venue Dusk Till Dawn to sponsor the £500,000 United Kingdom Poker Championships (UKPC) Main Event. As a juicy bonus, there’ll be over £50,000 in added prizes for all players qualifying for the £560 buy-in tournament at GGPoker!
Note that the event is scheduled to run online at GGPoker from January 7, and live at Dusk Till Dawn (Nottingham) from January 11.
Qualify for the UKPC Main Event at GGPoker
Not surprisingly, given this is GGPoker, there’s more than one qualifying route, and all kinds of bankroll are catered for.
Already underway are UKPC Daily Dollar Qualifiers, with a UKPC Main Event seat up for grabs every day for a $1 buy-in! In fact, a total of 60 coveted tickets will be awarded via the Daily Dollar Qualifiers.
From October 26 you can also play in UKPC Weekly $80 Super Satellites every Wednesday, with EIGHT seats guaranteed each week. Meanwhile, keep your eyes peeled over the coming weeks for additional qualifying options.
And there’s more: all GGPoker players who qualify for the UKPC Main Event will earn free entry to an exclusive UKPC Aftermath £25K Freeroll.
Play at Home With GGPoker
All GGPoker qualifiers to the UKPC Main Event will play their preferred online Day 1 at GGPoker on either Saturday, January 7 or Thursday, January 12, with the top 20% going on to play the live Day 2 at Dusk till Dawn. Players can also buy directly into the UKPC Main Event Day 1s hosted at GGPoker.
“GGPoker is thrilled to partner with Dusk Till Dawn and ensure our players now have an opportunity of winning their way into the UKPC Main Event, one of the highlights of the UK’s poker year,” said Angela Martin, UK & Ireland Head of Marketing at GGPoker. “There’s at least £500,000 to be won, and with satellites from $1, we hope to see some players turn a tiny online buy-in into a huge live score at the UKPC!”
There’s so much on offer at GGPoker, including the patented Rush & Cash poker, Flip & Go, All-In or Fold, Spin & Gold, GGCare & GGCheers, an integrated staking platform, Smart HUD and SnapCam video messaging, amongst others. Join today to take advantage of the latest offers and bonuses at this action-packed poker room.
Last week the third edition of The Festival Series was organized in Bratislava. It promised to be a real spectacle with an epic €500,000 guaranteed prize pool in the Main Event, not bad for a €550 buy-in. With 1,271 entries, this prize pool was even expanded to €603,725, of which a staggering €126,650 was reserved for the winner. A large group of Dutch people made their appearance at the Banco Casino in the capital of Slovakia, which resulted in a dream scenario. Two Dutchmen would cross swords for the win!
Michel Molenaar, rising star of Dutch poker and only 23 years old, managed to win the Main Event. The player from Volendam, a fisher town close to Amsterdam, bested everyone and was able to score his biggest cash ever and even doubled up his all-time cashes. We spoke to him:
Hey Michel, have you recovered from The Festival Series? How were the first days back in our little country?
Yes, I have arrived back in Volendam since last Monday and I was able to get some rest. Volendam is not that big with 22,000 inhabitants, and then you soon have the ‘’everybody knows each other’’ story. When I cycled across the village on my bike, I already was congratulated by people who recognized me, that makes it extra beautiful. Funny detail is that I had been to my hairdresser a while ago and had promised to step in there again once I had achieved a great result. I kept my word.
How long have you been playing poker? And how has it all gone so far?
In the Netherlands you can legally play real money poker from the age of 18 and you can start straight away from that age. When I was 19, I put my studies aside and I fully focused on poker, I am also a big fan of chess, so I spend the necessary hours on that too. I picked up live poker immediately and some nice cashes in Barcelona, Rozvadov, Nottingham and Marrakech, I can say that it has gone quite well so far.
The Festival Series had its 3rd stop. How did you get there?
A friend of mine, Jeroen Aarts, was already in Tallinn (Estonia) in June and told me that it is a beautiful series where not only poker is high on the agenda, but especially the fun is paid a lot of attention to it. That combination appealed to me, especially if it is also held in a country like Slovakia, the safe side of Eastern Europe. I stayed there for the entire week for the series and was able to combine the mixed games with the No-Limit Main Event and some other side events.
How did the Main Event go for you up to the final day?
In fact, I was doing well throughout the whole tournament. On day 1 I finished with 177K (start 30K), running hot and made good plays quickly before I qualified for day 2, so I could focus on the necessary side events such as the Heads-Up tournament and the NLHE High Roller. Unfortunately, no cash because in the High Roller I got it in good for about half of the chips in play with 16 people left. 11 Would reach to the money and with 3 million chips it would have been very easy to grind to the top spots. Unfortunately, A J could not beat Jx 8x and Qx Qx on a flop with two spades. I had already played TheHendonMobChallenge before the Main Event and I was able to score a nice cash with a 14th place.
Day 2 started well, and I was able to add a ton to my chip stack. Until then, the table was quite soft and ideally with a big pile of chips, then Norwegian Espen Sandvik came to sit at my table, and I knew already he was quite an aggressive player. He was soon able to hit the showers as I was running well and got it in against him with my Qx Qx against his Jx Jx. It all really ran like clockwork, and I could not lose anything that day. I knocked out Johan Huisman with flip Ax Kx vs Tx Tx, river A. Did not have to do much and eventually expanded my stack to 5.7 million.
I got to know you at the beginning of the week, found out during the week that you had known as ”Lord Barre II” in the Netherlands, and thought you came across as very calm. Do you have any special preparation for such a final table?
The last two tables did not take too much time, and we quickly got to the unofficial final table. There we got a little break, and when 8 players were left, there was a 30-minute dinner break. Too much on the short side to be honest, could barely finish half a portion of spaghetti. Although the hunger had disappeared a bit due to healthy adrenaline from the final table. Too bad about the short breaks, because then you are just a bit in your game against the players where you eventually compete for the first places.
The final table I did not know anyone in terms of playing styles. But had already spoken a bit with Gerianne Dijkstra (runner-up for €77K), but that was it. I had seen a little bit of play at the other tables around me, and a little bit of how they played. The Icelander, Leo Sigurdsson, and Hungarian, Peter Kamaras, seemed reasonable players to me, considering they had some nice moves. I saw many players making some blunders when there were 8 players remaining and then you notice that the level was not too high. It all went smoothly, until we were with three players left, then it stopped a bit. And the stacks were also somewhat even. Luckily, a few good bluffs against Gerianne Dijkstra, and I got in perfectly against the Leo Sigurddsson with Ax Ax against his Ax Qx, which also almost meant practically the end for him.
Heads-up when two hands were counted, came the joy and happiness. This was your biggest money ever, what are your plans in the future?
Yes, the heads up did not last too long luckily, and it fell my way. €126K is a huge amount, but whether I have some plans for it now, I cannot really say yet. Probably a little more investment and clicking online than usual would be the usual run out. Playing semi-professional without a job is already stress-free and with some chess on the side, then such an amount is extra tasty.
I am going to play the Master Classics of Poker in Holland Casino Amsterdam anyway, because I already know a lot of people there. I have been active in Dutch poker for five years and then such an outing is always a party. I cannot say anything about the next The Festival Series yet. Nottingham, Dusk Till Dawn poker club, I have been to, but because of taxes it is not that attractive for Dutch players. Malta, Portomaso Casino appeals to me enormously, especially because of the large numbers of Dutch people who always go there.
Michel, congratulations again and thanks for the conversation, we will keep in touch. Any closing words?
Shout out to Dominik Nitsche and DTO poker. It was the first event where I forgot to wear my patches, but luckily a win made up for that.

We’re so used to poker tournaments having a guaranteed prize pool that we tend not to think of the significance of such a set-up but, for the organisers and hosts, it’s a big deal. All the more pleasurable it must be, then, when the guarantee for a big event is not only safely covered, but massively so.
The recent PokerStarsRoad to PSPC Philadelphia event enjoyed exactly that success. Amassing an amazing 1,598 entries, the tournament, which had an original guarantee of $200,000 up for grabs, exceeded this to the point that, when the proverbial dust had settled, the prize pool had increased to an enormous $487,390!
As well as the money on offer, the players were battling it out for a much sought-after Platinum Pass to the mega-bucks PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) in the Bahamas in January (see below). In this particular leg of the Road to PSPC, it was New Jersey resident, Vladimir Grechnikov who emerged as the big winner, adding the bumper Platinum Pass package to the first prize of $60,000!
Vladimir Grechnikov
As professions go, they don’t come much more adventurous than being a deepsea fisherman, and it’s fitting that Vladimir, 34, managed to go deeper into the tournament than all his rivals. In his own words: “Incredible man, I have no words for this, I’m totally speechless, this is a dream come true”. Incidentally, Vladimir’s route to poker success is an inspiring one that certainly resonates: “I watched my friend’s dad quit his job and start playing professionally, and I picked up a few books of my own, played a couple of small tournaments in basements and started playing online poker, and took it from there.” This is what’s great about poker – it’s the ultimate everyman (and everywoman) game.
For those of you seeking glory (or, simply, a fantastic poker luxury holiday in the sun), the next stop on the Road to PSPC is at Pittsburgh Live! (starting 27th October) where another Platinum Pass will be awarded alongside piles of cash.
Platinum Pass Package Worth $30,000
The Platinum Pass package that books your place in January 2023 at the luxury Baha Mar Hotel in the wonderful Bahamas is worth a whopping $30,000, and includes the following:
$25,000 Buy-in to the PSPC
Six nights at a 5-star hotel for the winner and a guest
Airport transfer
$1,900 in expenses
Platinum Pass Winner experiences during the event

We often hide behind the old adage that ‘if it’s not broken, don’t fix it’ in order to avoid potentially damaging a satisfactory status quo by making changes. However, such an approach can lead to stagnancy and, moreover, progress can never be achieved by fearing change. The world of poker – particularly online poker – is constantly in a state of flux, and history has shown that failing to acknowledge this truism can lead to trouble. Unibet should be commended, therefore, for instigating a complete overhaul of its weekly tournament schedule. And, it should be pointed out, this was already a popular and successful set-up, so all the more praise is deserved for this move by Kindred’s online poker brand, which has established itself as a leading player in recent years.
The host of changes will come into effect on 24 October. In the meantime, here’s a taste of what’s to come. First, guarantees will be significantly increased, so whereas thus far the biggest daily tournament has had a guarantee of €4K, the new schedule will feature prize pools of €5K, €6K and €10K. In tandem with this increase comes a decrease in fees, making Unibet’s tournaments arguably the cheapest around in terms of fees.
The Importance of Recreational Players
Unibet understands the importance of recreational players, and it’s with this in mind that changes are being made. For example, they aim to finish daily majors by 1am CET/CEST. Additionally, there’ll be more bounties and less add-ons. The reasoning behind the latter element is based both on the tendency of recreational players to not realise the value in taking the add-on and the fact that the format encourages players to max late reg, which can effectively mess up the tournament dynamics, particularly for lesser experienced players.
Here’s a selection of tournaments to look forward to:
The Title Fight – a daily €10,000 GTD PKO with a €50 buy-in
The Ironman – a daily €2,500 GTD Deepstack with a €10 buy-in
The Slobberknocker – a Thursday exclusive €7,500 GTD Bounty tournament with a €100 buy-in
Fight Club – a Supernova running exclusively on Sundays, with a €10,000 guarantee and €100 buy-in
Last but by no means least is Unibet’s celebrating their first major overhaul in five years with their biggest ever MTT promotion that will pay out €100,000 via 10 weekly leaderboards. There were already countless reasons to play at Unibet, and with the latest player-friendly tweaks and increased prize pools in place, there’s no excuse to not have Unibet as one of your favourite online poker rooms.
‘Seize your destiny and become a legend of Ontario’ is how the World Series of Poker Ontario Circuit was announced, and the new Ontario-based WSOP.caonline poker room – the result of a continued partnership between the WSOP and GGPoker – has proved such a great success that three new WSOP bracelet events have been added to create a fitting finale to the series.
“Winning authentic WSOP gold bracelets is one big reason to play on the licensed and regulated WSOP.ca site in Ontario,” said World Series of Poker Executive Director Ty Stewart. “We’re expecting these tournaments will be some of the biggest of the year, therefore it’s a great way to celebrate a highly successful launch.”
Absolutely! And if you would indeed like to put your poker skills to the ultimate test and have a taste of glory (and, don’t forget, a big chunk of prize money!), make a note in your diary and get ready to grab a seat at a prestigious tournament. The three new WSOP Online 2022 events hosted at WSOP.ca are:
#1: BIG 150 Ontario MILLION$ – Final Day, October 23
#2: $210 Omaholic Bounty MILLION$ – Final Stage, October 30
#3: $1,050 GGMasters Online Championship – Freezeout, October 30
What more inspiration do we need than the mouth-watering prospect of winning a potentially life-changing sum of money and a coveted WSOP gold bracelet? It certainly is a fantastic time to be a poker fan in Ontario. Home-grown six-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu, GGPoker Global Ambassador, had this to say: “Poker is in a great place right now in my home province… Three WSOP bracelets will be won this month by Ontario-based players, and I’m thrilled to be the one to reveal this exciting news!” … could you join this poker legend by winning a bracelet? Hit the tables and find out…
You don’t have to be a tournament specialist to play at WSOP.ca – as well as the Canada-focused promos there are the usual GGPoker delights: Cash Games galore, fast-fold Rush & Cash, All-In or Fold, Spin & Gold, Flip & Go, Jackpots, an integrated in-house Smart HUD, Bubble Protection, Tournament Staking … and the list of games and special features goes on. Don’t hang around – dive into the action!
Just as planning ahead is part of playing online poker (or, at least, it should be), it’s no less important to plan the time we have to actually play the game, and this should also include giving ourselves the best chance of qualifying as cheaply as possible for big money events. Introducing the MILLIONS Online Knockout edition at partypoker (27th October – 15th November).
‘Millions’ and ‘Knockout’ – music to the ears of the modern-day tournament player, who’s grown used to vast sums of money being up for grabs and also likes the added excitement and action (and money!) that results from Bounties placed on everyone’s head.
Qualify for Peanuts
Equally welcome to even a semi-serious (i.e. sensible) poker player is the opportunity to earn a place as cheaply as possible in a big-time tournament with a sizeable buy-in and a massive prize pool to match. Good news, then, that partypoker strives to give its players plenty of chances to do just that.
Indeed, you can start the qualifying set-up with special $0.01 satellites, which is amazing considering the ultimate target is one of numerous $1,050 seats for the $1M Gtd Main Event that can be won every week.
Spin It to Win It
To cover all bases as far as qualifying is concerned, partypoker is hosting MILLIONS Online Knockout SPINS, with varying satellite and Events seats worth $109-$1,050 to be won in literally minutes.
Here’s how it works:
It should go without saying that whenever there’s a discounted route to a big money event it’s well worth giving it a go. In the meantime, partypoker has more than enough to offer players, so if you haven’t yet joined, you can do so now and take advantage of the current poker offers and bonuses available.
We all know that poker is cool (unfortunately, that doesn’t automatically make us cool…), and an event hosted by PokerStars today is taking full advantage of that fact by mixing poker and rap music – and the host is an egaming legend! All bases, then, are duly covered…
Celebrity involvement in sport doesn’t always work, the end result often being publicity for publicity’s sake, with the sport or game being too diluted to be taken seriously. Celebrity and poker, on the other hand, make perfect bedfellows, and whereas people are very unlikely to suddenly get the urge to start playing this or that game just because they’ve seen one of their favourite celebs have a go, poker is a different story, being entertaining to watch, and easy to take up as a pastime.
Any fan of eGaming will have heard of Corentin ‘Gotaga’ Houssein who found fame as one of the world’s most successful esports pros. Now retired from competition, he’s into poker, and tonight the so-called ‘French Monster’ – who has a mighty online following of around four million! – is hosting a fantastic online poker night on PokerStars, streamed live from his Paris studio.
An action-packed Sit & Go tournament will not only include Doigby, Domingo, and Xari from Team Stars, and popular streamer Jiraya, but there’s an extra special guest, namely the French rap singer, GIMS! The global star – real name Gandhi Bilel Djuna – is about to see his fame reach even greater heights, as he’s the voice behind the official song of the upcoming World Cup…
Join in the Fun! €20,000 Freeroll
There’s no excuse to miss this exclusive PokerStars event, which also features a €20K Freeroll for the viewers running alongside the Celebrity Sit & Go. And to slice up proceedings even more, prizes will be ‘dropped’ into players’ accounts during the stream… Don’t miss out – it’s the ultimate no-brainer.
Indeed, the same can be said about playing at PokerStars generally, where – whether you’re into rap or classical music – you’ll find a top quality offering of tournaments and cash games.
The restrictions of the COVID pandemic might have kept us apart physically but, thanks to the internet, we were able to effectively stay connected. Online poker certainly had an impact, with both existing poker enthusiasts returning to the game and new arrivals experiencing it for the first time. Not everyone is aware that with some poker rooms it’s possible to set up your own Private Tournament, and at Americas Cardroom you can do just that!
Private Tournaments at Americas Cardroom: How It Works
Whether you have amassed a pool of poker friends over time who come from all four corners of the world, for example, or you’d like to have a ‘home’ game but with more players than you can fit into your kitchen, look no further than Americas Cardroom for the facility to host your very own Private Tournaments.
You get to tailor the details of your tournament, including the duration and game type, and you also create your own tournament password for ultimate protection, so that you can play exclusively with just your friends in your own private ‘area’ of the poker room. The buy-in for Private Tournaments is $1.65, which is perfect for recreational players whose min interest is just having fun. No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha and PLO8 variants are available, and there are three structures to choose from, namely:
Fast: 60 minutes average duration Medium: 90 minutes average duration Slow: 180 minutes average duration
N.B. Average tournament times can vary depending on the number of participants.
Of course, there are many reasons to play at Americas Cardroom, from the great selection of Cash Games, Freerolls, Sit & Crush games, Jackpots and special poker bonus offers and so on to Million Dollar Sundays that feature player-friendly action-packed tournaments with big money up for grabs.
Have fun, and good luck…
Online poker wouldn’t be online poker without innovative ideas and games, and while Poker Flips might sound familiar to a theme we’re used to, this particular offering from WPT Global is an entertaining take. It’s poker, but rather than the traditional format that sees us in standard competition mode, playing against each other, it has a roulette flavour…
How It Works
As well as being great fun, the object of the game, of course, is to win money, and you can win up to 200x your bet every 15 seconds. As we said, it’s a cross between poker and roulette and, in this case, instead of placing bets on Odd/Even, the middle 12 or your lucky number etc, the selections are poker related.
WPT Global’s Poker Flips features two virtual rivals, Cowboy, and Bull, playing a hand against each other. Two cards are dealt face down to each of Cowboy and Bull, along with the Flop, Turn and River, with the community cards also being face down. At this point in proceedings a 15-second clock starts, and it’s time to place your bets!
Simply consider the odds offered for this or that bet, such as High Card, Pair, Full House etc for the Winning Hand, which player will win (or even a tie) and so on, make sure that you decide on the amount you wish to wager and on which selections in the given 15 seconds, and you’re good to go.
Then watch as both Cowboy and Bull’s hole cards are revealed, and all of the community cards subsequently shown. Once the winning hand is determined, the winning bets are highlighted, and the payouts are shipped to all winning players.
While Poker Flips is much more than an action-packed ‘side game’ with potentially big payouts, don’t forget that this leading online poker room has so much to offer poker fans. Join today to take advantage of the latest poker bonus offers and enjoy great tournaments and cash games.
So, you’ve been dealt Aces and, very craftily, have managed to tempt a call sucker with a lowly pair of Jacks into a tasty looking pre-flop all-in. Life is good… The Poker Gods, on the other hand, have other ideas, and decide that this will be one of the dreaded 20% of times when you lose, a Jack appearing on the River (for dramatic effect – they have a sense of humour, those Poker Gods).
But it doesn’t have to be this way! Not at the innovative online poker room that is GGPoker at least. Thanks to their EV Cashout facility (EV as in Expected Value), in certain situations players who are all-in are given the option to collect the expected value of their hand before the remaining cards are dealt out.
When multiple players go all-in and all live hole cards have been revealed, a player who has 60% or higher pot equity will be offered an EV Cashout.
On accepting the EV Cashout offer, the money will be paid regardless of the outcome of the hand. Declining the offer, or failing to accept within the given time, means that the hand continues as normal, with the pot – and any sidepot(s) – at stake as per usual.
N.B. Note that EV Cashout is offered only after the Flop has been dealt.
EV Cashout is calculated as follows: Cashout = (Pot size – Rake – Jackpot fee) x Equity
A fee of 1% of cashout value will be applied while using EV Cashout on all Cash Game tables. Note that, in a two-way all-in situation, the underdog will only have the option to suggest RIMT (run it multiple times) and will not be able to select EV Cashout.
This player-friendly feature is one of many at GGPoker, which offers a real money poker experience that deservedly puts the site among the world’s leaders.
Have fun, and good luck!
People put Sundays aside for all sorts of things, but those of us who are fortunate enough to be real money poker fans can have hours of fun at PokerStars courtesy of their KO Sundays – a feast of tournaments where picking up Bounty rewards can significantly boost your bankroll. You don’t even have to finish in the prizes to score a profit!
There’s a plethora of knockout tournaments to enjoy, with the Major Sunday events played with the Progressive KO (PKO) format. The difference between a PKO and a traditional Bounty set-up (where a fixed sum is awarded for each bounty) is that progressive bounty values are fluid, increasing as a player continues to eliminate opponents. In a PKO, part the bounty is awarded immediately, but some (usually 50% – see below) is added to your bounty, too. In this way, the more players you knock out, the bigger your own bounty becomes.
PKO: How It Works
In most PKO tournaments, half the buy-in goes to the prize pool and the other half becomes a player’s starting Bounty. Then, in the case of an elimination, the Bounty is broken up as described above. Thus:
50% of the buy-in goes to the prize pool
50% of the buy-in forms each player’s initial Bounty
50% of the Bounty is ‘progressive’ – when eliminating a player you receive half of their Bounty in cash, with the remaining half being added to your own Bounty value.
The exciting $11 buy-in, $100,000 GTD Sunday Storm is just one of numerous big money events that make up KO Sundays at PokerStars – the Sunday Million and Sunday Warm-Up, for example, are two more. Note that there are many bargain basement buy-in satellites for the megabucks Sunday Majors, so check out the packed qualifiers schedule and get your KO Sundays sorted!
Meanwhile, whatever day of the week it is, and whatever your favourite online poker games are, there are countless other reasons to make PokerStars one of your regular places to play – find out what the latest bonuses and offers are available and hit the tables. And don’t forget to bring your best PKO game…

Every now and then, the Gambling Commission in the UK , upon investigation into the practices of gambling companies, find that certain ‘rules’ have been broken and that, for example, customers have not been treated with their well-being in mind. The latest infraction has resulted in a large fine…
NSUS Limited might not be a well-known name among poker fans, but it is, in fact, the name of the gambling operator which trades as GGPoker and operates under ggpoker.co.uk (one of the world’s leading online poker rooms). NSUS was recently hit with a hefty £672,829 penalty for both social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures. The operator will also receive an official warning.
Regarding social responsibility failures, these included failing to identify customers potentially at risk of suffering from problems associated with gambling, as well as failing to interact with such vulnerable customers.
Furthermore, the operator was deemed to have failed to take all reasonable steps to prevent self-excluded customers receiving marketing material, with 125 self-excluded customers getting marketing emails.
On the subject of anti-laundering failures, these included failing to carry out adequate risk assessments of the business being used for money laundering and terrorist financing, and failing to ensure that appropriate policies, procedures and controls were in place to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
Sanctions
The Commission has decided to impose a warning under section 117 (1) (a) of the Gambling Act 2005 (the Act), and to also impose a financial penalty of £672,829 under section 121 of the Act. The Licensee co-operated with the Commission throughout the investigation.
The Road to PSPC is in full swing with Platinum Passes now being awarded regularly. The coveted Platinum Pass from PokerStars is a ticket to the biggest $25k game in live poker history, the PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC).
The most recent addition to the list of PSPC qualifiers made the cut in Philadelphia recently and it was a bit of a special one–for the first time, PokerStars has awarded a Platinum Pass in a restricted-entry event. While the Road to PSPC events are usually open-entry with the pass available to any player who enters the game, the latest Pass was awarded in a Ladies-only event.
It was the first time PokerStars offered a pass in a women-only event, and when the dust settled Rishva Iyer from Kensington, Philadelphia won nearly $6,000 and the much sought-after Platinum Pass. The game was held at Live! Casino in Philadelphia with a $200 buy-in running on Oct 8 and 9.
First Restricted Platinum Pass Goes to Rishva Iyer
The first Platinum Pass awarded in an exclusive women-only event is now in the pocket of Rishva Iyer. The 24-year-old from Kensington is fairly new to the game, having started playing in college home games.
Her poker journey really kicked off when her boyfriend ran through some of the basics with her for a bit of early training. She said she mostly plays real money poker cash games but sometimes plays tournament poker as well.
“I’m a regular here at Live!,” Iyer said after her win, “so I’m always checking for events and I saw there was a Ladies Event and I thought I can’t miss this; I have to play it. I try to play the big tournaments now and then, but I don’t study them as much and I don’t have that much experience at all, so it was kind of tough, but it’s always fun.”
Iyer’s journey to the PSPC began on Oct 8 in a field of 120 entries at Live! Casino in Philadelphia. That meant that in addition to the Platinum Pass that everyone had their eye on, there was a prize pool of just shy of $20k to fight for in the $200 game as well.
Iyer’s Platinum Pass came with a first-place prize of $5,840 in addition to the ticket package. The Platinum Pass alone is worth $30k USD with some travel cash, accommodations, and airport transfer included with the $25k buy-in to the PSPC.
Platinum Pass Value ($30,000):
Buy-in to the $25,000 PSPC
Six nights hotel accommodation for winner and a guest in a 5-star hotel
Airport transfer
$1,900 expense money
Platinum Pass Winner experiences during the event
More Miles on the Road to PSPC
The operator plans to award hundreds of tickets to the Bahamas extravaganza set to run from Jan 30 through Feb 3 as part of the larger PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA). The PCA is a long-running festival from PokerStars, but in the first running in three years it will begin its new post-pandemic life in a brand-new location.
There will be a lot more chances for players to book a cheap ticket to the big game as well on the Road to PSPC. Both international and US-specific dates are still upcoming, so no matter where you play you’ll have a shot at one of the coveted Platinum Passes.
In addition to the online qualifiers running on the online poker client in your jurisdiction, there are two Roads currently being traveled.

Online poker is fun, and winning money at online poker is fun. Even better is the chance to pick up extra rewards along the way. Thanks to the Sit & Go Daily Leaderboards at partypoker you can do just that, with P$1,750 paid out daily from Monday to Friday and P$3,500 every weekend! P$ (partydollars) are a virtual currency that can be used to buy in (fully or in part) to Multi-Table Tournaments, SPINS tournaments and Sit & Go tournaments as well as standard and FastForward Cash Games.
How It Works
Running seven days a week, every week, there are two Sit & Go Daily Leaderboards and, like all the best user-friendly promos, it’s a simple matter of having fun at the tables. Leaderboard points earned are determined by a formula that includes the buy-in, number of players, speed, and finishing position in the Sit & Go, so the more you play, the more points you can accumulate, and the higher your Leaderboard position.
As usual at partypoker, it’s genuine poker-for-all, with buy-ins starting at a mere $1!
Note that SPINS, SPINS Ultra, Satellite SNGs & Heads-up SNGs do not count towards Leaderboard points. Winners are paid within 24-48 hours of each Leaderboard completing.
Earn extra Cashback points! Once again at partypoker – there’s more! Sit & Go fans can now earn even more Cashback via the 1.5X Boosted Hours promotion by playing in games with a buy-in of $20 or greater.

Gone are the days when the mention of poker conjured up images of an exclusively male underworld populated by shady looking men in dark, smoke-filled rooms. Today’s environment, both online and at bricks & mortar venues fosters – in your writer’s humble opinion – an increasingly inclusive, socially positive and all-round impressive atmosphere. Indeed, despite the fact that poker, by definition, revolves around profiting at others’ expense, there’s an air of respect and community (emphasised by the social aspect that non-players might not fully appreciate) for which the game doesn’t receive the credit it deserves.
By way of a testament to the powers of poker away from the tables, Americas Cardroom is hosting an event in support of the United Breast Cancer Foundation. The $55 buy-in, $10,000 GTD Breast Cancer Awareness Charity Tournament takes place on Wednesday 12 October at 4:30pm ET and, given the worthy cause, the more poker fans who take part the better. Furthermore, Americas Cardroom has pledged to make a charity donation to match the final prize pool up to $20,000! Meanwhile, female players will have their buy-in reimbursed 24 hours after the event.
To put into perspective the significance of this tournament and the admirable effort being made by this forward-thinking poker room, as a consequence of the event over 100 women will receive crucial care via the United Breast Cancer Foundation’s program services. Learn more about the UBCF, which is a platinum-rated charity that has served the community for over 22 years.
You can support the tournament by following the stream on the ACR Twitch channel, when influencer Nikki Limo, the host, will be joined by Playboy model Trishelle Cannatella as well as Americas Cardroom pros Katie Lindsay and Ana Marquez.
ACR Pro Katie Lindsay
Katie Lindsay: “I’m so happy to be able to support the United Breast Cancer Foundation thanks to the help of my friends and ACR. I love that they offer holistic approaches to healing and helping as many cancer survivors as possible.”
If you’ve not yet joined Americas Cardroom, this is the perfect time to both help a good cause and get a taste of what this great online poker room has to offer.
Six-time WSOP gold bracelet winner and GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu documented a rough summer where he lost $1.1 million. He was down a bit more than that in 2022 and was on pace for what appeared likely to be his first losing year since 2017.
Negreanu turned everything around and instead of showing a nearly $2 million loss on the year, he is now in profit for $1,671,022 after defeating Nick Petrangelo heads-up in the nosebleed $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl VII for $3,312,000.
Was on pace for my worst losing year ever but it will be a winning 2022 after yesterday
This wasn’t the only success that Negreanu had in a Super High Roller Bowl tournament as he took runner-up in the $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl IV in 2018 for a cool $3 million. Three-time Super High Roller Bowl champion Bonomo won that event for $5 million and while he was unable to win this time around, he did manage a fourth-place finish to collect $720,000.
While Negreanu’s Super High Roller Bowl success has added millions to his bankroll, this isn’t where Negreanu achieved his biggest success to date. That came eight years ago when he finished runner-up to Dan Colman in the 2014 WSOP Event #58: $1,000,000 No Limit Hold’em – The Big One for One Drop for $8,288,001.
We could easily be writing about a different champion for this event if not for a big hand on Day 1. The recently controversial Kenney was allowed to play while others embroiled in controversy in Ali Imsirovic and Jake Schindler are banned at least until the end of the year by PokerGO for all of its events. That being said, Kenney wasn’t grouped in by PokerGO with others accused of cheating and was allowed to play. In hindsight, it would have worked out better for Kenney if he didn’t enter as his wallet wouldn’t be $300,000 lighter.
Kenney got into a major hand with Negreanu where he held aces and nailed a set on an ace-four-five flop. Negreanu with pocket threes improved to an inferior set after a trey hit the turn. Thus far, the betting was relatively small but that all changed after Negreanu further improved to the nuts with quads after the case trey spiked the river. All the chips went in then to eliminate Kenney, and Negreanu never looked back en route to victory.
The Super High Roller Bowl VII attracted 24 of the biggest names in poker to generate a whopping $7,200,000 prize pool. The top four players were awarded at least a min-cash of $720,000 with payouts going up quickly from there.

Final Day Action
Five players returned on the third and final day on the money bubble with four spots getting paid. Petrangelo and Negreanu were on the top of the pack with Andrew Lichtenberger, Orpen Kisacikoglu, and Bonomo all with shorter stacks.
Two of the shorter stacked players collided early on with Lichtenberger four-bet jamming queens and Kisacikoglu calling off his stack with ace-queen. The money bubble broke after the board ran clean for Lichtenberger and it was guaranteed with Turkey’s Kisacikoglu on the rail that the event would feature all American players in the money.
Lictenberger was back at it again, this time eliminating Bonomo in fourth place after his jacks were good against eights. All three players were near even at this point during three-handed play but that all changed when Lichtenberger’s good fortunes ended when he ran his king-six into Negreanu’s ace-six.
Negreanu began heads-up action with a nearly 5:1 chip advantage and eventually had Petrangelo on the ropes with just 10 big big blinds when the final hand took place. Negreanu jammed with queen-seven suited and Petrangelo called off with king-five. If Petrangelo was able to hold, he would have been right back into things. Instead, Negreanu connected with his seven on the flop and won the event after Petrangelo bricked the board.
After the win, Negreanu tweeted his appreciation for his ever-supporting wife Amanda Negreanu.
