Americas Cardroom is certainly pulling out all the stops with their latest megabucks tournament series, namely the $10 Million GTD PKOSS poker fest. This is one of the biggest Progressive Knockout series in online poker and runs until 14th November, with a plethora of events to get involved in.
There’s a juicy $10,000,000 in guaranteed prizes across literally dozens of tournaments. In fact, it’s a tournament fan’s dream, with $1 Million and $500K Main Events, as well as $1 Million, $250K and $25k multi-flight events.
Here are a few highlights:
The $630 buy-in Main Event #1 has a $1,000,000 GTD prize pool, with Day 1A on Sunday, 6th November, Day 1B a week later and Day 2 on Monday, 14th November.
Main Event #2 has a buy-in of $109 and will pay out at least $500,000, and has the same daily schedule as above.
The $215 buy-in Multi-Flight #1 also features $1,000,000 in guaranteed prizes. Flights are underway and continue until 13th November, with Day 2 on 14th November.
Multi-Flight #2 has a $55 buy-in and $250,000 GTD prize pool, with the same schedule as Multi-Flight #1.
The tiny $1.40 buy-in Multi-Flight #3 guarantees $25,000 in prize money, and Flights run every 2 hours(!), with Day 2 on 14th November.
Mouth-watering… if you haven’t yet tried out Million Dollar Sundays at Americas Cardroom, this series is a great time to be introduced to their big money tournaments. Here’s a taste of what the $10 Million GTD PKOSS has to offer over the next couple of days:

This weekend Halloween was celebrated all around the world. As usuall it can be both scary and fun. We have gathered some Tweets from various poker players and poker rooms that celebrated Halloween in their own special way.
My wife cookin’ up something extra this year! Happy Halloween from our growing family to yours! Our baby girl coming in April 🎃 pic.twitter.com/NPjxTj5Me3
$10,000,000 – that’s how much GGPoker is giving away to their players every month in their megabucks Cash Giveaway, so with November just beginning, don’t waste any time and make sure you take full advantage of the smorgasbord of offers available. And there’s something for everyone – this is online poker at its juiciest.
In fact, there are 12 great promotions that currently feature in November. One such, for those of you yet to join GGPoker (where have you been?), is the Honeymoon for Newcomers bonus, which revolves around carrying out easy-peasy daily missions for tasty rewards.
Some honeymoons can be a disaster, but with GGPoker – one of the planet’s leading poker operators for cash games, tournaments and more – you can have 30 days of fun and pick up instant prizes in the process! Just remember to manually start your Honeymoon by clicking ‘Start Honeymoon’ before 23:59:59 the end of the 30th day, and you’re good to go.
And it couldn’t be simpler. There’s one eminently doable Mission per day to carry out, and over the 30 days you get to check out the many delights of the GGPoker playing experience. The more Missions you successfully achieve, the bigger the reward. Here’s how it breaks down:
In GGPoker’s own words: “Your choice of poker room is the start of a courtship, and we’re offering you a 30-day Honeymoon to immediately strengthen this special relationship”…
Of course, if you’re already part of the GGPoker family, there are plenty of other promos to take advantage of in the $10M Cash Giveaway (for example a Daily $100K Flipout, $750K in both Rush & Cash and All-in or Fold Leaderboards…).
This is what modern day poker is all about – providers should show players their appreciation for being the lifeforce of the game. Check out the latest Poker Bonuses and Offers and (literally) reap the rewards.
Have fun, and good luck!
The European Poker Tour (EPT), sponsored by PokerStars Live, continues apace, with the next stop in Prague, 7-18 December. The venue is the fantastic King’s Casino Prague at the luxurious Hilton Hotel, which overlooks the Vltava River and is situated bang in the centre of the Czech Republic’s capital. If you’ve never experienced an elite poker extravaganza, then the EPT Prague is a great way to start, and the €5,300 Main Event beckons…
Qualify for Peanuts
Tournament fans: it doesn’t matter if you’re a poker hobbyist or a seasoned veteran – thanks to a rafter of qualifiers at PokerStars there are numerous ways to get your hands on (amongst others) a coveted €5,300 seat for the Main Event. Incredibly, not only does the satellite quest start at just £1.10, but there are even $0.11 (yes – 11 cents) buy-in Freebuys, too! Online poker really is the gift that keeps on giving.
King’s Casino in Prague
The full schedule for EPT Prague is packed with tournaments, so it’s well worth throwing your proverbial poker cap in the ring and getting involved in the qualifiers. Here are some of the highlights to aim for:
Eureka Main Event: December 8-12 – €1,100
Eureka High Roller: December 11-12 – €2,200
EPT Main Event: December 12-18 – €5,300
EPT Super High Roller: December 11-13 – €50,000
EPT High Roller: December 16-18 – €10,300

24/24 Cash Games at the EPT Prague
As much as poker festivals such as the EPT revolve around tournaments, if you’re into cash games these events are very much recommended. Both No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha games will be laid on throughout the festival, with a range of stakes available. And what better venue than the plush surroundings of the Hilton Hotel Prague’s Grand Ball Room…? For those of you looking for a great poker holiday in one of Europe’s most picturesque cities, here’s a guide to the cash games that will be hosted:

It’s not that long ago that every poker fan and his dog played only No Limit Texas Hold’em. Your writer can even remember the days when Limit Hold’em was popular.
Nowadays, that seems like a lifetime away as, while NLH remains the most popular version of the game, it certainly isn’t exclusively so. Omaha has, particularly in recent years, become a fan favourite, and whether you’re a seasoned Omaha veteran or looking to try it out, look no further than partypoker as the perfect host.
Omaha: A Four-Card Frenzy
Omaha has grown considerably in popularity for a number of reasons, such as an increasing thirst for excitement and the modern (albeit not always appropriate) aggressive mindset and approach to poker. Many top players are of the opinion that broadening our poker horizons improves our overall understanding of the game and, given that we tend to prefer ‘new’ stuff to also promise something different and entertaining, switching from two hole cards to four tends to be what most NLH regulars do.
Learning anything about poker should be fun, of course, but there’s something about getting to grips with Omaha Poker Strategy that’s quite exciting.
Omaha Tournaments Galore at partypoker
Even when Omaha started to take off, fans of this thrills and spills game had to settle, in the main, for cash games. But it should come as no surprise that tournaments are great fun, and partypoker certainly delivers on this front in the shape of Omaha Legends…
There’s a plethora of Omaha tournaments to choose from, with something for everyone, as well as for all bankrolls. The Forge, for instance, is a Pot Limit Omaha Progressive Knockout tournament with a buy-in of just $2.20 – great for recreational players and newcomers to Omaha. Meanwhile, The Split – as its name suggests – is a $7.50 buy-in Hi-Lo tournament… these are just two of many, the biggest being the $530 buy-in The Great Game.
So, hit the tables at partypoker, and if you haven’t yet joined you can do so now and make the most of the latest partypoker bonuses and offers available!

Mostaccio also won a Las Vegas package sponsored by the World Poker Tour (WPT) valued at $2,500 and also won another €550 after winning the PokerDeals last longer competition.
The MPF Grand Event was a massive success with 1,326 entries generating a whopping €636,480 prize pool to smash the event’s €500,000 guarantee. A total of 143 players cashed for at least a €1,100 min-cash, representing exactly double the €550 buy-in.
Players came from far and near to play the Malta Poker Festival including from the United States and Canada making it one of the truly international recreationally minded poker events in Europe.

Final Day Action
The final day began with 39 hopefuls in the hunt for Malta Poker Festival glory with Humberto Galindo in the captain’s seat. Galindo was unable to parlay his starting day pole position into a final table appearance as he eventually bowed out in 13th place for €3,500.
Meanwhile, Stefan Alvetjarn began the final day as one of the short stacks. But he doubled up twice early in the day to make it deep. However, he was eliminated in 10th place for €4,330 just short of the final table.
Stefan Alvetjarn
Runner-up Harnes began the final table with the chip lead with the eventual winner not too far behind in third place. The lead exchanged hands between a handful of players throughout what proved to be an entertaining final table.
On the other end of the scale, partypoker qualifier Karl Metz entered the final table with the shortest stack and hit the rail during the very first hand of the final table when his deuces failed to win a flip against the ace-six suited held by Alessandro La Cava.
Not too much later, Tobias Matuschuk delivered Steven Smith a cooler when his kings held against queens to send his opponent to the rail with Harnes sending La Cava packing shortly after to leave just six players remaining.
Although Matuschuk had the chip lead at this point, he lost some chips before getting involved in a monster pot with ace-queen. Instead, Harnes snagged the lead back while also eliminating Matuschuk when his sevens won the flip.
Glen Gaines, who a few months ago won the Tallinn Summer Showdown €1,100 Main Event that PokerListings also reported, lost his short stack to Luigi D’Alterio before local hero Andrew Cutajar hit the rail despite holding the nuts when the chips got in on the turn in a hand against Mostaccio.
D’Alterio was low on chips and was the next player to go when his ace-trey didn’t hold against Mostaccio’s ace-try. Mostaccio then had nearly double the stack of Harnes. Before a hand was played, the players took a break to agree on an ICM deal which left €23,400, the WPT package, and the €550 PokerDeals last longer prize on the line for the eventual winner.
The heads-up action didn’t last long. Mostaccio won a few small pots and had Harnes on the ropes when he got it in good with ace-queen against king-jack to eliminate Harnes. Despite missing out on all the glory, Harnes did collect a trophy for finishing in the top three along with a handsome €97,330 prize thanks to making the deal.
Thomas Harnes
We would like to thank MPF founder, the Portomaso Casino, and the amazing staff at MPF’s technical partner Ludos Academy for their amazing work and hospitality. Of course, we appreciate the huge turnout by the players as well!
This concludes our coverage of the Malta Poker Festival. We look forward to seeing you soon!

There’s a reason why players such as Lex Veldhuis get to be PokerStars Ambassadors, and it’s not just impressive results. Success, of course, is a factor, but lots of poker players achieve some level of success or win life-changing sums of money. A key aspect that tends to set apart those who inhabit the highest echelons of the game from the rest might for some be regarded as a ‘four-letter’ word, namely: WORK…
Yes – as boring as it might seem to many, ‘work’ and ‘dedication’ and a general unconditional commitment to doing whatever it takes to maximise our ability and opportunities in online poker is what we’ll hear from top poker pros as an absolute imperative. And it’s not just poker – every game and sport requires a certain level of genuine hard graft to reach the top. Former Manchester United, Real Madrid and England star, David Beckham, for example, was famed for incredibly accurate, practically unstoppable free kicks, but he was known for spending hour after hour at the training ground, practice countless dead ball/free kicks. Success doesn’t just magically land on your lap.
And, let’s face it, why on earth shouldn’t hard work be a must? One of the attractions of poker is that we can learn the game and get to grips with a few pointers and strategies and, within a short period of time, can have a fighting chance of beating much stronger opponents – something which could never happen with chess, for example. But this doesn’t mean that a limited investment in time and effort is going to be enough for (any) level of success. And this is where PokerStars Learn comes into play. Or, at least, it should.
Learn From Lex and Co
It would be interesting to know exactly how many of those who currently play at the site are either properly aware of PokerStars Learn or, if they are, bother to see what it offers. Whether you’re with PokerStars already or have yet to join, this totally free poker training is too good not to take advantage of.
Master the Fundamentals
Fix Leaks
Play smarter poker
This is how PokerStars introduces their comprehensive collection of often detailed articles and videos, but they’re almost doing themselves an injustice as there’s so much more than that!
Lex Veldhuis
Strategy, Bankroll Management, Cash Games, Tournaments, Spin & Go, Poker Mindset, Poker Pitfalls, Texas Hold’em Probabilities… whatever you want to learn more about, PokerStars Learn is the place to go. Advice from those who know can be priceless, and this is free advice!
It’s easy to think it’s okay to get by on the barest minimum of effort and to use all your time on poker doing nothing but playing, but side-stepping the learning part is effectively playing with a (self-imposed) handicap. So, the next time you log on to PokerStars don’t automatically dive into a game – check out the Learn section and add to your poker armoury…

“Choose to walk in, you will be both hunter and prey. It’s just business, nothing personal.” Your writer (a sucker for catchy marketing) has become increasingly impressed over the years in how online poker rooms present their promotions, and GGPoker have delivered with their $50M Bounty Hunter Series.
Running until 7 November, there’s loads of money – and bragging rights – to be won during this exciting series, which has an impressive and packed schedule. And, as we’ve come to expect with GGPoker, it’s totally accessible to poker fans regardless of the size of their bankroll – buy-ins start at just $5.25, and satellite tournaments into various events are running throughout.
Don’t Just Walk In – Jump in All Guns Blazing
The series is a veritable never-ending feast for tournament fans, with the flagship event being the $210 buy-in, $5,000,000 GTD MYSTERY BOUNTY Main Event…
Meanwhile, you have three chances to win big (up to $50,000 GTD) each day with $25 buy-in Special Edition GGMasters Bounty Freezeouts, the $52.50 buy-in Bounty Hunters Daily Main pays out six-figure sums and, among other delights, there are Sunday Special Editions (Sunday High Rollers Main, Sunday Big Game and more) to stick your teeth into.
Bounty Jackpots
A nice added touch – if featuring prizes up to $1,000,000 could be described as a mere added touch! – for the $50M Bounty Hunter Series is that, for all events other than the $210 MYSTERY Bounty Main Event, GGPoker’s new Bounty Jackpot mechanic will be running, which means that when you eliminate an opponent you’re in with a chance of winning a jackpot.
Everyone Loves Bounty Tournaments
Indeed they do… This is what Sarne Lightman, Global Head of GGPoker had to say about the series: “Everyone loves bounty tournaments, and it’s easy to see why; all players have targets on their back and it’s hunt or be hunted at the tables… this is our second Bounty Hunters Series of the year, and there’s so much player interest that we’ve increased the total prize pool guarantee from $30 million to $50 million – let the hunt begin!”
So, get bounty-hunting! And if you’ve not yet joined GGPoker, sign up and make the most of the poker bonuses and rewards available at this player-friendly poker room.
Thanks to our partnership with the innovative Global Poker, players accessing this exciting online poker room through Pokerlistings can take advantage of our exclusive promotion which allows poker fans to enjoy a whopping 65% discount on their first purchase! Read on…
How It Works
Global Poker is an online poker operator with a difference. Instead of playing with real money, players purchase virtual currency called Gold Coins and, at the same time, receive so-called Sweeps Coins. It’s then possible to use the latter to play what are effectively real money Cash Games and Tournaments, and redeem Sweeps Coins for cash. Due to this clever approach, poker enthusiasts in the United States with the exception of WA state, and in Canada (except Quebec) can legitimately enjoy online poker. N.B. Because Global Poker operates using this Sweepstakes model, it might not be accessible from your location.
Make the Most of Our Pokerlistings Special Offer
This is an offer well worth going with for more than one reason. First, of course, it’s a massive saving of your hard-earned cash, and we all know how important a factor that is. Furthermore, it’s reasonable to assume that the social aspect of Global Poker attracts a lot of recreational players, making the player pool generally less competitive than is the case at most other online poker rooms. If you’re an ambitious, serious player, this might provide an interesting hunting ground.
Here is your exclusive promo code: POKERLISTINGS
Get over 65% off your first purchase.
Receive 150,000 Gold Coins for $10, plus 30 free bonus Sweeps Coins.
‘Social Poker at its Best’ is certainly a great way to promote the ethos of Global Poker, but it’s important to note that the cash games, tournaments and special events this operator offers present plenty of reasons to get involved. Have fun, and good luck…
Principal Component Analysis is a mathematical algorithm that reduces the dimensionality of data, and … Oops! Sorry – wrong PCA! In our case, as poker fans, we’re talking about the far more exciting PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), which will take place in the sumptuous surroundings of the luxurious Baha Mar Hotel & Resort in the Bahamas, kicking off on 22 January, 2023. Not only is PokerStars a great online poker room, but it also organises great live events, with loads of prize money up for grabs.
Running until 3 February, the PCA will feature a host of events and no shortage of things to and places to see while out in the Caribbean… so the question is…
How Do I Qualify?
It should come as no surprise that coveted seats at major poker events in fantastic settings are not limited to players with burgeoning bankrolls. In fact, thanks to the user-friendly qualifying set-up at PokerStars, you can win a PCA Package worth $16,000 for a welcomingly modest outlay of just $15 by diving into the special PCA Spin & Go games.
There are Satellite tickets to be won, too, so there’s plenty to play for in these fun games without having to win the top prize. Here’s how prizes are distributed via the PCA Spin & Go games:

Many players, when seeing what events are coming up, take a cursory look at the buy-in level, think ‘that’s too much for me’ and just move on, looking for cheaper alternatives. There’s no need for this in today’s player-friendly world of online poker, and the prestigious MILLIONS Online Knockout Edition (which gets underway today at partypoker and continues until 15th November) is a typical example of how literally any poker enthusiast can be part of major events.
The headline tournament is a $1M GTD 3-Day PKO Main Event, with a buy-in of $1,050. However, incredibly, thanks to the ultimate in comprehensive qualifying set-ups, you could start your quest to be a 2022 MILLIONS Champion for a ridiculously teeny-weeny $0.01, which is the cost to enter into battle at the beginning of the satellite process.
This, of course, is just one of many ways to win yourself a $1,050 entry, while you can also get your hands on cut-price seats for a host of great tournaments taking place throughout this fantastic Knockout series.
MILLIONS Online Knockout SPINS
SPINS games have become a fan favourite in recent years so, especially for this MILLIONS Online series, partypoker is laying on special SPINS qualifiers where you can win Series tickets worth between $109 and $1,050 in literally minutes. Here’s a breakdown of the special edition SPINS:

‘Don’t just settle for candy this Halloween!’ This could be a life-affirming positive thought with which to end the month but, in fact, it’s a catchy tag line from Americas Cardroom to help promote their $500,000 GTD Halloween.
Daily Flight Tournaments: Hit the Ground Running
$55 buy-in Flight tournaments are running daily and will continue up to and including 30 October, which will see Day 2 take place. The event enters the final phase with Day 3 on 31 October, when the atmosphere in this megabucks event will no doubt be appropriately tense and ratcheted up to Halloween-worthy levels…

Don’t Miss Out…
As much as we’re so spoilt by online poker operators that we almost take massive guarantees for granted, this progressive knockout tournament is too good to miss. First, there’s the bumper main prize pool itself, and we can also expect the rewards for Bounties to get pretty juicy as the tournament works through the levels and more and more players are eliminated.
Get your scariest virtual Halloween outfit ready and have no fear as the witching hour approaches… Have fun, and good luck!
You don’t have to be a poker player for the mere mention of Vegas to conjure up the bright lights, big city, fortunes won and lost glitzy atmosphere that we see depicted so often in movies and on TV. But if you are a poker fan, then as well as the above, you can’t help but picture yourself there, rubbing shoulders at the table with big hitters and big spenders, and winning big yourself. It’s every poker player’s dream…
Thanks to the latest promotion at WPT Global, namely the brilliantly titled 100 Hands to Vegas, you could be doing just that, with seats up for grabs for the upcoming $15 Million GTD WPT World Championship which will take place at the Wynn in Las Vegas in December.
How It Works
As the promo name suggests, the magic number here is 100 – for every 100 hands you play at WPT Global, you’ll earn a chance to gain entry to this prestigious megabucks event. And it couldn’t be easier, given that your end of the deal is literally to do no more than have your usual fun at the Cash Game tables! Each set of 100 completed hands is rewarded with an entry into a special draw for a coveted WPT World Championship seat. The more you play, of course, the more entries you rack up, and there are even bonus Iron Man entries for managing to reach 100 hands on consecutive days.
The promo, which is a great opportunity for Cash Game players to experience big time tournament poker, has only just started, and will continue with a weekly draw all the way to November 20. Five winners per week will be announced, with the top two receiving a WPT World Championship entry and $2,000 for travel. Three more players will pocket $3,000, $1,500, $1,000 respectively, plus a $550 World Championship Qualifier ticket each.
Of course, there’s more than one way to win your way to Vegas, so check out WPT Global and, if you haven’t yet joined, take advantage of their latest great poker bonus offers.
Have fun, and good luck!
Wherever you are in the world, the magic of the internet means that you can get the chance to win life-changing amounts of money playing online poker and, where megabucks tournaments are concerned, look no further than PokerStars for a shot at glory.
This year’s PokerStars Southern European Championship of Online Poker (SECOOP) and Italian Championship of Online Poker (ICOOP) will pay out over €14.5 million in total prize money. Held from October 30 to November 20, the SECOOP and ICOOP will award over €9 million and €5.5 million in guarantees respectively. Chris Straghalis, Director of Online Poker Experience for PokerStars: “As with our WCOOP 2022: Take 2 events, we wanted to ensure our Southern European and Italian community also have the chance to take to the tables and play for a coveted title.”
Special Edition Sunday Million
Following the cancellation of the Galactic Series Main Events, PokerStars has opted to add special edition Sunday Million tournaments on November 6, each guaranteeing €1 million prize pools.
As usual, all bankroll types are catered for, so as well as being able to simply buy in directly for €250, it’s possible to win a seat at bargain basement prices thanks to a comprehensive qualifying set-up for that includes special SECOOP Spin & Go’s or satellites from just €3. In fact, there’s €147,000 in added value satellites scheduled in SECOOP and €165,000 in ICOOP, making the prestigious Sunday Million accessible to recreational players and seasoned veterans alike. “The Sunday Million is one of our most prestigious tournaments and due to the Galactic Series cancellations, we’ve added thousands in added value satellites to give players plenty of ways to enjoy the Sunday Million and the SECOOP and ICOOP series” said Chris Straghalis.
Don’t Miss Out
The SECOOP and ICOOP schedules offer up a feast of juicy tournaments, with a €50,000 GTD event being held every day of the SECOOP series, for example. Each series will culminate with Main Events on November 20, with €400,000 GTD in Southern Europe and €150,000 GTD in Italy.
Other Routes to Poker Glory
Covering all bases, PokerStars have made available other ways for those in France, Spain and Portugal to get their hands on series event seats, via ‘second chance’ Freerolls and deposit offers.

The idea seemed a bit too ambitious from the start: carry out an interview with Ivonne Montealegre, the indefatigable driving force behind the Malta Poker Festival – one of Europe’s most ‘happening’, bustling, non/stop, big real money poker extravaganzas – on the opening day of the festival…
Anyone who’s ever been to such an event will be well aware of the sheer scale and constant buzz, the seemingly distracting ‘clink’ of thousands of poker chips actually a comforting, almost rhythmic reassurance in a charged and exciting atmosphere unique to large-scale poker festivals. And this is exactly the scenario at the Malta Poker Festival, which kicked off yesterday and features a €500,000 GTD Main Event powered by partypoker (one of numerous poker operators and ‘names’ involved in the MPF).
Just as a swan’s wonderfully graceful movement is the ultimate metaphor for serene expertise, the picture of elegance in motion a stark contrast to the hidden level of activity beneath the water’s surface, the ostensibly smooth running of poker festivals with hundreds of eager competitors from around the globe and all walks of life, egos and nerves at their most raw, is made possible by the dedication and monumental effort of the people who organise them. And leading this band is Ivonne Montealegre…
The indefatigable Ivonne Montealegre
At the Portomaso Casino Malta, a fantastic poker venue in a fantastic setting in St Julian’s, this vision of combined serenity and success is in no small part down to MPF founder, Ivonne Montealegre. Thanks to her drive, attention to detail, an understanding of what can enhance poker’s bigger picture and a desire to make the poker experience much more than a chance to win money, the Malta Poker Festival is the success that it is.
As well as the megabucks Main Event, there’s a host of other stuff going on this week. Fans of mixed games, for instance, have the €230 buy-in HORSE Powered by Cardplayer Lifestyle tournament, hosted by Robbie Strazynski – this invitation of a poker personality to the MPF that is a typical nice touch from Ivonne Montealegre.
Another is the turn of popular player and poker ambassador Katie Swift, who will host the €100 buy-in Ladies First! event on the 29th. Note that Ivonne is also the International Affairs Director of the Women’s Poker Association (WPA), so this, and the subject of women in poker specifically, is a key issue to the MPF founder.
Even the horror story that is the dreaded ‘Bubble’ has been addressed by Montealegre and her team, with the help of MPF partner Luxon Pay – this is a global e-wallet service provider whose Luxon Pay app offers players an ultra-convenient way to buy into live poker events and games. Luxon Pay are offering Bubble Insurance: players who buy in to ANY MPF events (excluding Satellites) via Luxon Pay will have their buy-in returned should they be knocked out on the Bubble!
Meanwhile, Luxon Pay have also joined forces with the Malta Poker Festival and the World Poker Tour (WPT) to award a special prize for the eventual winner of the €500,000 GTD Grand Event, namely a WPT Prime Package for the WPT World Championship at the Wynn Las Vegas, December 8th-12th. The package includes the $1,100 buy-in for the $2 Million GTD event, $1,300 travel expenses and a hotel package worth $1,600.
Finally, on the 31st – to bring the MPF to a fittingly Halloween-themed finale, comes the special €150 buy-in and aptly named Win the Spooky Cross tournament, hosted by Ivonne Montealegre herself!
And the interview? It turns out that we didn’t need the usual questions and answers this time around, as the MPF speaks for itself…
However, I should point out that, having previously met Ivonne, and after our recent phone call, her passion for what she does is tangible. She did wish to say how she hopes the MPF will be a welcome experience after the last couple of years or so of COVID and its implications, that the festival is bigger and better than ever, with new events and new elements and (much to my jealousy, as I looked out of my window in Glasgow to see a typical vista of a dark daytime sky through driving rain…) the weather right now in Malta is ‘gorgeous’… Wish you were there? I certainly do.
The Malta Poker Festival (MPF) is ready to rumble with an action-packed schedule from Oct. 24-31 including the €500,000 guaranteed €550 MPF Grand Event
Earlier this year in May, the MPF made its triumphant return to the Portomaso Casino after it was forced to take a break due to the COVID pandemic affecting festivals around the globe. The event was highly successful with 1,014 entries coming out in full force for the Main Event with Daniel Lakerveld winning the title for a cool €71,000. This author had the pleasure of playing in that event. Although he came up dry during the tournaments, he held his own during the mixed cash games running all week long and had a blast meeting new and old friends alike thanks to the friendly atmosphere provided by Montealegre and the luxurious Portomaso Casino.
Expectations are even bigger this time around for the Autumn Edition of the MPF with MPF Founder Ivonne Montealegre spending countless days and nights planning. Another reason a banner turnout is expected is that players had more time to plan and the MPF taking place at its usual time of year.
For the first time, PokerListings will be on hand to report from the beginning until the end the MPF Grand Event. Expect some flavor from the side events as well throughout the coverage along with podcasts and interviews after the event.
As we already mentioned, the €550 buy-in MPF Grand Event boasts a huge €500,000 guaranteed prize pool providing amazing value for the players from Oct. 25-31.
The event features five opening flights on Oct. 25-29 giving players plenty of chances to build a monster stack for Saturday’s Day 2. The event isn’t a money grab and is for the players. One example of this is that the Grand Event doesn’t allow late registration on Day 2 like many events in Europe have for a last-minute dash to meet a guarantee. Another example is that the Grand Event doesn’t allow unlimited re-entries as instead players can re-enter twice per opening flight.
The first four opening flights will be fully covered by PokerListings with 40-minute blind levels while the final opening flight will be a turbo-charged affair with 20-minute blind levels.
The structure only becomes better from there with Day 2 featuring longer 50-minute blind levels and Sunday’s final day boasting the deepest structure of one-hour blind levels.
Those looking to get in for a fraction of the €550 buy-in will have plenty of chances with tons of €60 satellites littered throughout the schedule.
Something for Everyone
While most players will be coming out to Malta to play in the Grand Event, there are plenty of other tournaments on the schedule. No-limit Texas Hold’em players will be able to enjoy tons of events and satellites including a trio of two-day events in The Hendon Mob €225 Championship (Oct. 28-29), the APAT €120 Maltese Championship (Oct. 29-30), and the €1,100 CasinoCoin CUP (Oct. 30-31).
Bounty Hunter Days will power two events including the €230 Bounty Hunter Days Malta (Oct. 26) and the €120 Bounty Hunter Days Progressive Closer (Oct. 31).
Meanwhile, Katie Swift will be on hand to host the €100 Ladies First! on Oct. 29, while the event’s organizer Ivonne Montealegre will host a special event on Halloween for €150 dubbed the Win the Spooky Cross Hosted by Ivonne Montealegre.
Those looking for mixed games are in luck. Not only is there the €200 PLO Knight Crusaders on Oct. 30 but also some more fun on the schedule thanks to CardPlayer Lifestyle and Mixed Game Festival founder Robbie Strazynski coming to town from his home in Israel to host the €230 HORSE Powered by Cardplayer Lifestyle on Oct. 25. This author already entered the event using Luxon Pay as it takes place before the coverage begins. We will be sure to let you know about this author’s personal experiences during Day 1a of the Main Event. But thanks to using Luxon Pay, this author has protected bubble insurance in case he just misses the money.
In addition, there will be mixed cash games running nightly on the casino floor along with the usual array of no-limit hold’em and pot-limit Omaha action.

Our coverage of the Malta Poker Festival begins on Oct. 26. Stay tuned to PokerListings for all of your updates.
The final two 2022 stops of the action-packed Asian Poker Tour (APT) have been announced, with Manila (Philippines) and Da Nang (Vietnam) hosting. If you’re into live poker tournaments in exotic locations, then here’s your chance…
“It’s going to be an exciting finish to the calendar year,” said APT President Neil Johnson – “We’ve taken a lot of player feedback and expanded the Manila and Da Nang schedules for a very robust offering.”
APT Philippines 2022 will take place at Newport World Resorts from November 15-27 and promises to be a real humdinger. There’ll be a total of 41(!) tournament events on offer over the 13-day poker extravaganza, with the Main Event having a buy-in of PHP 55,000 (~USD $930) and a cool PHP 15 Million (~USD $254,000) guaranteed prize pool.
Overall, the total guaranteed prize money at APT Philippines 2022 will be a whopping PHP 29 Million (~USD $491,000)…
APT Vietnam venue… it’s hard life
The swanky venue for the APT Da Nang Vietnam VSOP 2022 is the Risemount Premier Resort and, again, there’s a lot of poker to be played! Held from December 8-18, this 11-day series will pay out a guaranteed VND 20B (~USD $820,000) over 35 events, and the VND 33M (~USD $1,350) buy-inMain Event has VND 10B (~USD $410,000) as a guaranteed prize pool!
What’s better than a feast of real money poker played at fantastic venues with chunky prize pools? (Exactly…)
With the virtual ink barely dry after the latest edition of The Festival Bratislava, this fantastic, player-friendly and innovative series continues to progress at an impressive pace, with the next two tour stops already announced and qualifiers up and running!
Play from dusk till dawn at Dusk Till Dawn
After the initial opener in Bratislava in 2021, a successful summer stop in Tallinn and a triumphant return to Bratislava in October that saw the Main Event dramatically upping the guarantee to a whopping €500,000, The Festival will next be going to the UK, being hosted by the famous Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club in Nottingham, February 13-19.
Dusk Till Dawn – packed with poker fans
Founded in 2007 and owned by the well-known poker player Rob Yong, Dusk Till Dawn has built its success as the biggest poker club in the UK by focusing on ground roots, low stakes players. A perfect venue, then, for The Festival Series, whose €550 Main Event is fast becoming a European player favourite. The Festival Bratislava, in fact, had 1,271 entries and a €603,725 prize pool that well surpassed the €500,000 guarantee.
The week-long event in Nottingham will see the usual unique blend of poker, competitions revolving around casino games (how’s your roulette strategy?) and sports betting and, importantly, away-from-the-table activities and parties throughout The Festival. Note that Dusk Till Dawn is a key poker partner of Luxon Pay which, conveniently for poker fans, affords players the facility to buy into poker events via the Luxon Pay app (at Dusk Till Dawn you can even use Luxon Pay to buy into cash games).
Poker in the Mediterranean: The Festival Malta
It’s a testament to the steamroller success of The Festival that the second leg of the Series in 2023 has been announced, namely The Festival Malta (May 15-21).
Another week of action-packed fun will see The Festival make its debut in the Mediterranean, hosted by the Portomaso Casino in St. Julian’s, Malta. This is not only a luxurious casino in a great setting, but one of the world’s leading poker venues with many major events under its belt to date.
So, there you have it! Keep your eyes peeled for The Festival Series qualifiers and get ready for a poker festival with a difference…
Poker and sports go hand-in-hand, and PokerStars recently further established their sporting associations in Canada by celebrating home opening games with Toronto Raptors and Maple Leafs fans in an epic Union Station takeover.
Fans were able to get up close and personal and see the partnership between PokerStars and the Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) come to life, thanks to epic giveaways, fan interaction and team mascot appearances. As the season progresses there’ll be more to come, with fans continuing to be the recipients of such surprises, and they can look forward to other special opportunities around key moments and games.
Multiple Entertainment Combinations as an Aim
PokerStars officially launched its partnership with MLSE, alongside FanDuel Sportsbook, earlier this year, the aim being to offer both sports and poker fans in Ontario a combination of entertainment via leading sports, poker and casino gaming experiences.
Tom Warren, PokerStars Marketing Director, had this to say of the partnership: “We are always looking for ways to make the experience for our customers better, and as a leading gaming brand in the newly regulated Ontario market, we couldn’t think of a better way to do this than by partnering with the Toronto teams… Our aim is for this partnership to be a win-win for our players and fans alike – we are excited to be on board!”
Meanwhile, don’t forget that Pokerstars have come up with a bigger and better rescheduled World Championship of Online Poker (with boosted guarantees) in the shape of the $25 Million GTD WCOOP 2022: Take 2 – it’s too good to miss!
