PokerStars Welcomes Two New Ambassadors

PokerStars Welcomes Two New Ambassadors

If you think that poker is a bunch of men in smoke-filled casino rooms or illegal games in backstreet basements where the only women to be found are serving drinks, then what cave have you been living in? Fortunately, the poker world has come so far over the years that, not only is the reality so far removed from such an outdated image, but both real money online poker and the live version increasingly represent an environment about which other sports and games would be proud.

This is also reflected in the choices online poker operators make in terms of the ambassadors who represent them, and, in turn, what impact on poker and the collective image it portrays these people have. We can take PokerStars as a perfect example of the face of modern poker in this respect, the latest two ambassadorial recruits being a poker pro from Brazil who is also a very popular streamer, and a Spanish poker pro and coach.

Lali Tournier

First up is Brazil’s Lali Tournier, whose poker skills at the tables have helped her build an appreciative following for her popular stream, not to mention the additional attention she receives as a member of top Brazilian eSports organisation Furia, which is sponsored by PokerStars.

A two-time World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) winner, Tournier’s success has by no means been limited to online poker tournaments - a number of live major tournament cashes under her belt testify that this latest addition to the PokerStars stable is a force to be reckoned with.

This is what she had to say about joining the PokerStars team: “Thirteen years ago I started playing $0.25 Sit & Go’s on PokerStars, and I remember looking at the Team Pro page and would imagine my picture there. It was a very distant dream. But now, my dream has come true, and it is even better than I could wish for -being a Team Pro, joining my husband Rafa and one of my best friends, Akkari. Thanks, PokerStars! I am really happy to be part of the best poker platform.”

Irene "Frogy" Albarrán

Professional poker player and coach Irene ‘Frogy’ Albarrán, who hails from Spain, is also a Twitch streamer. Having already proved a success as part of the PokerStars commentary team in Spain, and jumping straight into ambassadorial duties commentating the PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) and PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) events for the Spanish PokerStars community, it’s clear that poker fans have a lot to look forward to.

And Irene’s reaction to her new role: “I have fulfilled one of my dreams; to be the voice of such a big poker community, alongside a great team who also feel like family, representing PokerStars. I feel very excited about everything that is to come. There are going to be many beautiful moments and being able to share these times with the community as well as the team is something that excites me a lot. The best is yet to come!”

Meanwhile, PokerStars is known as the big daddy of online poker rooms for a reason, with a comprehensive, varied and packed-to-the-brim poker offering that features Texas Hold'em and Omaha cash games, Sit & Go games and a massively popular tournament schedule that pays out nosebleed sums week after week.
