Dante Goya Fernandez Shows Discipline and Wins GGMillion$

The Brazilian found himself in two difficult spots early at the final table, but lost the minimum both times.

In one hand, Ding Biao opened QTo from UTG+1, Goya called with QQ from the HJ, and Plante 3-bet with AA behind him. Und3rdogg 4-bet KQo from the BB, forcing Biao and Goya to fold. Plante then shoved, and Und3rdogg folded.

In another hand, Goya opened 88 from UTG+1. Plante called with JJ, and Binder called from the BB with 22. The flop came 236. Everyone checked to Plante, who bet 2 BB. Binder then shoved for 10.5 BB, but Fernandez once again made the disciplined fold, while Plante called.

Goya kept his stack afloat by winning pots preflop with 4-bets.

At 8-max, he 4-bet AKo, forcing Hong to fold KQo.

At 7-max, Goya 4-bet AA from the BB. Hong again had to fold KQo, while Binder folded A8o. As a result, Goya never dropped below second place in the chip counts.

At 6-max, Goya lost a 15 BB pot with ATo against Biao’s Q8o after they got it in on a QQA flop. His stack dropped to 16 BB.

A couple of hands later, the Brazilian recovered those chips with JJ > AKs against Und3rdogg in a 35 BB pot.
