It’s Pokercabana as Brazil Dominates Sunday Party at partypoker

After multiple Brazilian successes over the last year or so, as well as a conspicuous presence at the business end of some tough, high-profile online poker tournaments, the world of real money online poker continues to see its global map undergo something of a redesign, as poker demons from Brazil again showed the rest how it’s done in partypoker’s recent Sunday Party.

This edition of this popular fixture was given special MILLIONS Online KO treatment, meaning that as well as the tasty prize pool, which had been increased to a guaranteed $200,000 to mark the occasion, there was a worthy title up for grabs, too.

A total of 1,734 entries from around the world battled away for glory and their share of the booty but, in terms of national representation at the final table, the balance was noticeably tipped towards one particular country: Brazil.

Team partypoker’s Patrick Leonard and Matt Staples had thrown their hats into the ring, but it wasn’t to be (it’s not like they don’t get more than their fair share of success...), with both busting outside of the money, and without any bounties as consolation.

The Boys from Brazil

When proceedings eventually reached the last phase of this marathon Bounty Tournament the nine finalists featured four from the soccer-crazy nation. In fact, we can round the statistics off nicely by pointing out that 50% of the last surviving 10 players hailed from Brazil, the fifth - Bruno Oliveira - being eliminated one spot from the final table.

Fellow countryman, Tales Braga, was the first out, in ninth, but with three Brazilians still in contention, there was a good chance one of them would emerge victorious. And that’s exactly what happened, thus giving us another Brazilian name to follow...
