Americas Cardroom’s $1,000,000 GTD Moneymaker 2.0 Is up and Running!
Now underway, the Moneymaker 2.0 promo at Americas Cardroom is simply too good to miss, and a great illustration of how lucky modern day poker fans are that real money online poker continues to thrive.
Chris Moneymaker made history and became a poker industry marketer’s dream in 2003 when he completed the ultimate journey from satellite to champion in the WSOP Main Event. Now an Americas Cardroom Pro, the poker legend is the inspiration behind this latest large-scale online poker tournament fest.
Moneymaker 2.0 - How It Works
Every Saturday (at 1:30pm ET) until 27 May – as well as Sunday 28 May – ACR will hold special Leaderboard Tournaments that each have a buy-in of $86 in honour of Chris Moneymaker, this exact amount being the initial outlay on his successful WSOP quest. The Final is a two-day event that will be held 4-5 June.
The prize pool generated from these tournaments will be distributed as follows:
- 50% from EACH Leaderbaord Tournament will be paid out to the top 12% of participants for that day.
- 50% of the prize pool generated from ALL Leaderboard Tournaments will go towards the prize pool for the Final Tournament on 4-5 June.
A guaranteed prize pool of $500,000 awaits the players in the Final, with at least $100,000 going to the eventual winner! As an added incentive, the victor will be crowned the Next Moneymaker and will also receive $15,000 towards an all-expenses-paid trip to Las Vegas!
If you want a chance to literally follow in the footsteps of the great Moneymaker you’ll need to have earned points in at least one of the Leaderboard Tournaments – note that players cannot buy in directly to the Final tournament.
How to Qualify for the Final
All points earned throughout the Leaderboard tournaments are cumulative and, when the dust has settled, a player’s total points earned are converted to chips (1 point = 1 chip). The more points you rack up during the Leaderboard phase, the more chips you start with.
How You Earn Leaderboard Points
Playing in a Leaderboard Tournament earns 2,000 points. Winning a tournament nets 15,000 points, with 10,000 for second, 7,500 for third and all the way down to 1,000 points for those finishing 17-24.
Note that there are many satellites available throughout the promotion, so you can win your way to the $86 buy-in Leaderboard Tournaments for as little as $4.40! Once in, you’re allowed one re-entry only per tournament.
Final Tournament Rewards
A worthy feature of the Moneymaker 2.0 promo is the generous prize distribution. This is because the $100,000 for the champion will be set aside from the overall Final Tournament prize pool, with the remainder then being paid out to the top 12% of the field as per usual. In this way, the top finisher will not only receive the normal percentage payout for winning a tournament, but also $100,000, as well as the $15,000 bonus added by ACR for the trip to Las Vegas – this promotion really is a no-brainer!
