Antanas "Tony G" Guoga
- Name: Antanas "Tony G" Guoga
- Nickname: Tony G
- Current Residence: Melbourne, Australia
- Born: December 17, 1973
- Birth Place: Vilnius, Lithuania
Antanas "Tony G" Guoga has come a long way from Kaunas, Lithuania. From his innocent gaming as a Rubik's Cube champion, Tony G has evolved into a poker player with one of the biggest reputations on the poker circuit.
With table talk that rivals Mike "The Mouth" Matusow and Phil "Poker Brat" Hellmuth, Tony G is almost better known for his antics during a poker game than for his actual skill. It's made for some good TV through his career and helped keep him in the spotlight while he continued to build up some poker cashes as well.
After building up a bankroll, Tony G headed to Las Vegas in his late teen years before he could legally play at the casinos. Armed with a fake ID, he quickly learned he wasn't ready for that level of play yet and ended up heading to London to hone his game.
It was in Europe where he started finding success on the tournament trail. He cashed in several Austrian events in 2002, including a couple of wins, as well as cashes in the United States and France.
Television audiences got their first taste of Tony G in 2003 when he made the final table of the World Poker Tour Euro Finals of Poker in Paris. He ended up in fifth place for a $17,223 cash, but the TV time was even more valuable for the poker pro.
As he continued to rack up some cashes in Europe and around the world, Tony G also started to get invites to other special televised poker events like the PartyPoker Premier League and High Stakes Poker.
He also made another WPT final table in 2004. It was in Paris again, but this time for the Grand Prix de Paris where he finished in second place to Surinder Sunar. His reputation also got him into the WPT Bad Boys of Poker tournament, which he pulled out for a win.
While his mouth and poker skills have kept him in the spotlight in the poker world, Tony G has also been working on business ventures behind the scenes to take advantage of poker's popularity on the Internet. It appears that Tony G is in it to win it no matter what part of the poker industry you look at.
