If pedigree counts at all in poker, Eoghan (pronounced “Owen”) O’Dea has the clear advantage at the 2011 Main Event final table.
O'Dea is the son of two-time WSOP Main Event final-tablist and bracelet winner Donnacha O'Dea – a famed Irish poker pro and high-stakes cash game player.
To top it off, the elder O'Dea was also an Olympic swimmer.
Eoghan, though, isn't exactly overshadowed by his decorated dad.
He's already an accomplished poker pro in his own right with over $700k in live earnings.
O'Dea's largest live cashes are a 2nd-place finish at the 2008 Ladbrokes Poker Million for $260,000 and a second-place finish at the 2009 WPT Marrakech main event for $388,532.
He also has five WSOP cashes in total, including three this year, putting him in 18th place on on the all-time Ireland money-earners list (his dad is 8th with $1.13 million).
Online, O'Dea also won the iPoker European Championship of Online Poker III main event for $315,000 - actually in the exact same week in Dec. 2008 that he earned his runner-up finish in the Poker Million.
