J-Tilla Teaching Lisa Simpson Poker: IN
The Simpsons has done more to mould who we are today than our parents and teachers combined.
All it’s been missing is online poker.
Next season that’s going to change, however, as Homer stashes Lisa’s college fund in an online poker account over the more traditional bank account.
Jennifer Tilly will make a cameo on the instructional DVD Lisa uses to brush up on her poker chops.
Entertainment Weekly had the exclusive.
PokerKat really likes purple.
Tilly was married to Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon, who is also an avid poker player.
We're more interested in whether the episode will touch on Black Friday, and the fact that right now it's not very feasible to deposit anything in an online poker account from the US.
Kathy Liebert and Purple Clothes: Still IN
PokerKat killed two birds with one stone today, winning $500 and the right to continue wearing purple clothes.
Mercier booked the bet and bought out in a matter of hours.
From his Twitter:
Just booked a bet vs @pokerkat 4 wsop. I can't wear black and she can't wear purple. Shirts and hats only. 300$ honor sys if u wanna wear...
And about an hour later:
I just bought out of the wsop bet vs @pokerkat for 500$. Ugh I'm such a fish. Black is in everything
Kathy Liebert replied:
Decided to buy the new iPad instead go green shirts. Thank you @jasonmercier for the $500. Lol
Poker’s Out List: March 12-18, 2012
Foxwoods Casino: OUT?
PokerListings.com has always had a love/hate relationship with Foxwoods Casino.
On the one hand we love the poker room, and the giant WPT events it has hosted. On the other we don’t love that it’s completely isolated from anything even remotely civilized, basically sitting in the middle of a swamp in the southeastern corner of Connecticut.
Foxwoods is facing tough times ahead.
But as it turns out Foxwoods has bigger problems than our divided opinion of them.
The latest New York Times Magazine cover story reported that Foxwoods is facing massive debt, to the tune of $2.3 billion.
Foxwoods’ enormous debt matches its enormous size. It’s the biggest casino in the Western Hemisphere.
Here are a few other stats from the NY Times article.
- Foxwoods has been open every minute of every day since February 15, 1992.
- It measures 6.7 million square feet, more than the pentagon.
- Attendance exceeds 40,000 on weekend days.
But the real story is that it might fail completely.

Alexander “Kanu7” Millar: OUT
Another elite high-stakes pro has fallen to Viktor “Isildur1” Blom in the latest SuperStar Showdown on PokerStars.
Blom battled Millar over 2,500 hands of $100/$200 and although the final numbers have yet to arrive, we do know that Blom was the winner.
With just 13 hands left Blom was up roughly $30,000.
Millar’s name is now added to the list of players defeated by Blom, which includes Terfe Augdal, Scott Palmer, Daniel Negreanu, Eugene Katchalov, Daniel Cates and Tony G.
Keep an eye on our Poker News Section for the full rundown when the official numbers arise.
