If you were going to create the perfect poker sandwich, a World Poker Tour championship between two slices of World Series of Poker bracelet wins would have to be it. That's what Scott Clements has packed away in his poker resume lunchbox, but that doesn't mean he isn't still hungry for more wins and acclaim.

Born in 1982, Clements calls Mount Vernon, Wash., his home base, and it's where he worked as a mortgage broker before turning pro in the poker world in 2005.

Mainly an online player at the outset of his poker career, Clements decided to give up Internet poker when the state of Washington made playing online illegal. Instead he started looking to more live play and taking on more live tournaments.

That decision led to three cashes in the 2006 World Series of Poker, including his first WSOP bracelet in the $3,000 Omaha Hi-Lo event. He faced down a final table that included the Poker Brat himself, Phil Hellmuth, to win more than $300,000.

One bracelet does not a poker great make, however. He needed to continue cashing, and winning, at some major tournaments to gain the respect in the live tournament world that many poker players crave these days.

Winning the World Poker Tour Canadian Poker Open in October 2006 definitely helped. He followed that up with an eighth-place finish at the WPT PokerStars.com Caribbean Poker Adventure in January 2007.

Before again heading into a summer filled with a month and a half of World Series of Poker events in 2007, Clements got married. In an interview with PokerListings.com, he said his wife had quit her job as a hairdresser to travel with him to different events.

Despite her willingness to travel all over with him, one place his wife didn't like to spend a lot of time was Las Vegas. Clements said it wasn't his favorite place either, so the couple avoided going to Sin City too long in advance of the start of the 2007 World Series of Poker.

Instead, to warm up for the big poker event, Clements flew down to the Commerce Casino in California for the main event of the Heavenly Hold'em series there. After that he headed north for the newly minted Johnny Chan Poker Classic at the River Rock Casino in British Columbia.

Perhaps those practice runs outside of Vegas were the secret ingredient for Clements, as he claimed his second WSOP bracelet in 2007.

His first cash in the series came early with a final-table finish in a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event. He placed fifth, for an over $100k payday. Then he cashed in the $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout, adding another few thousand dollars to his wallet.

But it was an Omaha event again that proved to be his lucky game. He bested a field of 576 entrants to earn his second WSOP bracelet.

To get there he had to take on a final table filled with players hungry for gold bracelets. Andy Black was the most notable pro there, still trying to hunt down a bracelet win after coming so close a few times, including fifth place in the Main Event in 2005.

William Durkee already had a bracelet win for 2007, his first - and just enough to give him a taste for more. Eric Lynch may not have been a household name yet, but he was no slouch at the felt either. A decorated online pro player, he was no doubt keen for a gold bracelet to help boost his emerging live career.

Perhaps Clements wanted it even more than any of these three, because his balance of aggression and trying not to put in too many chips pre-flop was the winning combination that got him his second WSOP bracelet. There's a lot more poker left to play for this young gun, but you can expect to see a few more bracelets decorating his wrists in years to come.
