Daily 3-Bet: Geshkenbein History, Hellmuth Loses $200k, Ramos TY
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a catch-and-release operation that always lets mid-afternoon poker news minnows back into the sea so they can reach maturation.
You can make your own suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comment’s section below.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at a potentially historic APPT final table, Phil Hellmuth getting smacked by a staggering $200k bad beat and Felipe Ramos’ SOPA acceptance speech.
1) Geshkenbein Guns for EPT, APPT Titles
It’s not the most publicized tournament in the world but the 2016 PokerStars ACOP Main Event has produced one heck of a final table that is headlined by chip leader Vladimir Geshkenbein.
You might recall that Geshkenbein won EPT Snowfest in 2011, which means if he wins the final table tomorrow he’ll the first EPT and APPT winner in history.
Interestingly he’ll also be the last as all of PokerStars individual tours are set to wind down at the end of the year.
The Russian is no stranger to success with over $1.6m in lifetime live tournament earnings.
Geshkenbein isn’t the only incredible story at the final table as Jimmy Zhou, who is third in chips, won this exact event last year and is looking for some title defense magic.
Finally PokerStars pro Bryan Huang is fifth in chips and would very much like to derail both of those stories and take the first-place prize for himself.
2) Phil Hellmuth Loses Biggest Bay Area Pot Ever
Phil Hellmuth is fortunate enough to get invited to private home games that other poker players could dream about.
Unfortunately for Hellmuth, those private games bite back sometimes and that’s just what happened last week.
Hellmuth Tweeted that he lost the biggest Bay Area pot of his life and he wasn’t joking. It’s a monster and let’s just say that Hellmuth got extremely unlucky.
You can watch it below:

3) Felipe Ramos Posts Thank You to Spirit of Poker Voters
Giving Felipe “Mojave” Ramos The Most Inspiring Player Award at the Spirit of Poker Awards was pretty much a no brainer for us here at PokerListings this year.
It’s hard to imagine a player that better exemplifies the positive aspects of poker and inspires more people to take up the game.
Ramos didn’t make it out to the 2016 Battle of Malta where we physically handed out the awards this year but he was nice enough post this acceptance video.
