Daily 3-Bet: FTP Rub, Cody Tub, PStars Boom! Switch

Jake Cody
Cody: Helicopter, hot tub or white suit?

The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is an unscheduled but surprisingly welcome three-story layover on a hop through the afternoon poker news islands.

Any suggestions for a future 3-Bet, feel free to drop a note in the comments.

Today in the 3-Bet we find Full Tilt and PokerStars supposedly haggling over price, Jake Cody forced to make some tough decisions and PokerStars turning on the Boom! switch.

1) Full Tilt Price Up? FTP and PokerStars Working with DOJ?

Still holding the cards.

A recent post on the Wicked Chops Insider has revealed the latest info on the Full Tilt/PokerStars deal although it's not much to report.

WCP is saying that their “well-placed sources” have said the deal is still on as reported and that US players are still scheduled to be paid back in full.

When, however, is still up for debate. Given the complexity of the deal their sources say it’s going to take more time to work something out - both between the two parties and the DOJ.

Two rumors have been circulating as well.

One is that the price has gone up a bit. The other is that Full Tilt and PokerStars reps were in court in the US on Tuesday to work out the details with the purchase agreement and the DOJ.

Both are unsubstantiated though. Wish we had more to report, but both sides are on full-scale media lockdown.

2) Jake Cody Can’t Decide Between Vegas or New Hot Tub

Decisions, decision. Photo: Jake Cody.

The life of a high-level poker pro is filled with tough decisions.

Fork over the $100k for the High Roller event because the payout is so big or skip it because the field is so tough? Take the airport shuttle to the hotel or buy a car off some guy in the parking lot?

PKR pro and Triple Crown winner Jake Cody lives that rough life every day and caught us up with his most recent dilemmas in his latest blog post. Among the tough decisions on his plate lately:

  • Staying in Berlin for an extra week as the Internet was down when he went to book a flight
  • Drinking 3 liters of rum and coke from a bowling ball
  • Bleaching his hair white or wearing a white suit for losing a prop bet
  • Taking a helicopter or a taxi into Monte Carlo (helicopter, duh)

His latest head scratcher? Getting on the business class flight to Vegas he booked months ago tomorrow or just staying in Leeds to hang out in his new hot tub.

Decision, decisions. Quite honestly, we don’t know how he does it.

If he does hit Vegas though, expect to see him in the WPT Championship coming up next week. Check his full post here.

3) PokerStars Launches Boom! Social Media Player

For those of you into "sharing," PokerStars has launched a new software feature called the BOOM! Hand Replayer for sharing hands on Twitter and other social networks.

Players can tweet their hands directly from the PokerStars tables by clicking the new red BOOM! Button, then go to BoomPlayer.com to vote on other players’ hands, watch hands from Team PokerStars Pros and email their own hands out.

To mark the launch PokerStars is also running a promo called the #BOOMAwards during the ongoing SCOOP with 10 awards of 5,000 FPPs.

All you have to do to enter is share your hands through BOOM! and 'splain why they so crazy. Use the #BOOMAwards hash tag and PokerStars will choose the best 10, who will get 5,000 FPPS each.

The best of the 10 will win an extra 5,000 FPPs for the BOOMAward Hand of the Series.
