Daily 3-Bet: Clothespin Poker, Rob. C Picks Khait, HoldemX Alpha
The PokerListings Daily 3-Bet is a new kind of poker played entirely with mid-afternoon poker news which means no cards, no chips and everyone wins.
You can make suggestions for future 3-Bet pieces in the comments section below.
In today’s Daily 3-Bet we’ll take a look at playing poker with clothespins, Anna Khait getting Survivor favorite buzz and HoldemX finally hitting Alpha.
1) PCA Shakedown, Clothespin Poker
An anonymous user posted an incredible story on TwoPlusTwo today about two poker players getting locked up for five days in a refugee camp post-PCA a few years ago for failing to declare cash over $10k.
It’s a harrowing tale and you should probably go read the entire thing here.
One of the stranger parts of the story was a variant of poker that was played in the refugee camp that included clothes pins:
"There wasn’t much to do there, but some people did have cards. One night a few guys came up to me and asked if I wanted to play poker haha. So I went over and they explained the rules in really broken english.
"Basically there were no poker chips or anything. All they had were these stiff clothes pins. It was like Texas hold em, and you could fold pre-flop, but if you’re in and you lose the hand, you have stick it on your ear, and it hurt.
"And if you won a hand, you could take a clothes pin off your ear."
2) Rob Cesternino Picks Anna Khait as Survivor Winner
Former Survivor contestant Rob Cesternino is one of the prominent experts on the long-running reality show so it bodes well that he picked poker player Anna Khait as the winner in his preview podcast for Survivor: Kaoh Rong.
Cesternino believes Khait will be overlooked as an attractive girl on the beauty team but will have the capability — in part thanks to poker we’d like to think — of the players on the brain team.
Ultimately Cesternino thinks that Khait will be able to control the course of action from her position and eventually win the game.
You can check out Cesternino’s preview podcast on www.robhasawebsite.com. Survivor: Kaoh Rong debuts Feb. 17, 2016 on CBS.
3) HoldemX Alpha Goes Live, Introduces Xcards
GPI CEO Alex Dreyfus’ crazy poker innovation HoldemX is finally here. Kinda.
The game is still in a very unpolished alpha state but you can actually experience it for yourself over on holdemx.com if you sign up to play test it.
So what’s the killer feature? An extra deck of cards called Xcards. Xcards allow players to change fundamental aspects of Hold'em like “Deal 6th street” or “Re-deal the flop”.
It’s interesting to say the least and we're going to have more thoughts about it later today on our blog. In the meantime check out this video explanation:
