Blom Soars: Top 10 Weekly Winners/Losers Online
Viktor “Isildur1” Blom topped a week that was dominated by some of the biggest names in online poker.
The young Scandi put in a ton of volume this week with over 9,000 hands and finished with a profit of nearly $500k.
It was one of the best weeks for Blom in recent memory and he can finally lay claim to a very sizable profit on PokerStars this year. How long it lasts is anyone’s guess as the swingy Swede has been known to donate huge sums of cash in brief periods of time.
Of course Blom wasn’t the only big name player win enough to buy a new house, however, as Phil Galfond and Ilari Sahamies both went on huge runs that saw them combine to win $700k.
It’s worth noting that later in the week there were a few sessions of $50/$100 Six-Max No-Limit Hold’em, which have been quite rare on PokerStars, since most players opt for Pot-Limit Omaha.
As part of our weekly feature you’ll find a complete list of the top 10 winners/losers from Aug. 12-19 below. As always check our online poker stats section for more information.
Top 10 Biggest Winners Online
As previously mentioned Viktor Blom was unquestionably the star of the week but Phil Galfond certainly gave him a run for his money.
After winning $203k on the weekend, Galfond went on to add another $279k during the week.
The former New Yorker is now up over $580k since moving to Vancouver, Canada, late last month to play online poker.
He talked a little bit about the experience on his Bluefire blog this week and it’s safe to say the WSOP-bracelet winner is enjoying his time in Canada.
Ilari Sahamies also had a very impressive week that saw him win $315k. Sahamies would have won even more but he had a few rough sessions towards the end of the week.
Despite the losses, it was one of the best weeks in recent memory for the aggressive Finn, who’s had trouble finding consistency over the last year. He’s still down $321k this year but that will be a distant memory if he records a few more weeks like the past one.
Outside of those three players the top 10 winners list was made up of slightly lesser-known players although 1-ronnyr3 and Andreas “Skjervoy” Torbergsen did have huge wins.

Top 10 Biggest Losers Online
mTw-DaviN, who is rumored to be former Warcraft 3 player Davin Georgi, had a catastrophic week losing huge sums to several players including Phil Galfond.
Georgi had been running hot this year and peaked at over $500k in profit in July but suddenly finds that number reduced to just $92k.
Right behind mTw-DaviN was the U.S.-born Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky who took a world class beating dropping a total of $345k.
Fortunately for Sulsky he built a huge profit earlier in the year so he’s still hanging on to a $527k profit in 2011.
Gavin “gavz101” Cochrane, who is the biggest winner on PokerStars this year, hasn’t been playing a huge volume of hands lately but he did find time to lose just over $100k this week. Likely not a huge deal to the guy who is still up over $1.5 million on the site.
Finally some of the other notable players in the losing category this week were Frenchman Rui “PepperoniF” Cao and Alexey “LuckyGump” Makarov.
Here’s the complete list of top 10 losers over the last week:
