Daily Updates From the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) – June 2

Alexandre Vuilleumier of Switzerland captured the second bracelet of the series in the $25k High Roller 6-Handed for more than $1.2 million. Meanwhile, the Mystery Millions played its second starting day while Tournament of Champions played into the money and will return today with 31 remaining.

Alexandre Vuilleumier won his first bracelet and more than $1.2 million after taking down a tough final table in Event #2. They came back on Thursday with 9 players remaining, getting down to the unofficial final table of seven players very quickly.

Vuilleumier started the day second in chips but Sean Winter made an early run for the top prize until Vuilleumier found top two for a huge double against Winter leaving his opponent on fumes. Winter was able to double back a few times to stay in it and ultimately finished in 3rd place. That set up heads up versus Chance Kornuth, who was looking for his fourth bracelet, but Kornuth was short-stacked and Vuilleumier hit a straight in the final hand to take it down.

Event #3: $1,000 Mystery Millions - No-Limit Hold'em

Half of the opening flights in the Mystery Millions are now complete after Day 1b saw nearly 3,000 runners, up from just over 2,000 on Day 1a. That puts almost 5,000 entries into this game already with two starting days still to come.

The prize pool in this one is now over $1.8 million and still growing. Day 1c goes on Friday, June 2 at 10 am with Day 1d completing the opening flights on Saturday, June 2. With the numbers so far and bigger fields expected on later starting days, it’s easy to see this one going well above 10,000 entries before registration closes on Saturday. Day 2 will be on June 4 when the Mystery Bounties kick in and one player will walk away with a cool million from a single bounty.

Event #4: Tournament of Champions

Event #4 is a bit of a special one on the schedule as it’s not open to the average player. Only bracelet and ring winners from the 2022/23 WSOP season are eligible to enter, and they all got free entry to the $1 million guaranteed game as part of their winner package at whatever event they won.

Day 2 played out on Thursday June 1, and WSOP commentator Lon McEachern was among the players to start the day.  McEachern managed to find a payslip later on Day 2 for his first ever WSOP cash.

Scott Wilson leads the Day 3 field to start the day with almost 2.9 million while Brent Gregory has just over 2 million and two other players have 1 million or more. The final 31 players will play down to a winner during today’s action.

Event #5: $1,500 Dealers Choice 6-Handed

The Dealer’s Choice game is down to just 11 players remaining now after a total of 456 entries. They’ve already handed out more than 50 prizes with 69 total paid spots. Andrew Kelsall finished Day 2 with the most chips and will be playing just under 2 million to start the final day of play.

Phil Hellmuth made a solid run for bracelet #17 on Day 2 but fell a bit short in 21st place shortly before the day ended, but in addition to Kelsall there are still some mixed-game crushers in the field including John Racener, Chad Eveslage, Clayton Mozdzen, and Nick Pupillo.

Event #6: $5,000 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em; Pot-Limit Omaha

WSOP 2023 Event 6

There is more than $500k for the winner in Event #6 but whoever that is will have to wait until Saturday for their payday. Day 2 action today will play down to the final table but players are already pocketing cash on their way out of the tournament area.

In total there were 568 entries for this one, putting $2,612,800 into the prizes split between 86 players. There are 48 players still in the action with Fernando “Jnandez” Habegger leading the Day 2 chip counts.

Event #7: $1,500 Limit Hold’em

Canada’s Mike “GoLeafsGoEh” Leah bagged the second biggest stack in Thursday’s Day 1 of Event #7. There is almost $150k up top for the winner of this 527 player field and, in total, they are playing for $703,545 in prizes.

Dana Davidson of the US edged out the Canadian, who has one bracelet, six rings, more than $2.7 million in WSOP earnings, and more than $8 million in total live earnings, for the top spot by about 8,000 chips and commentator Nick Schulman also has a top-ten Day 2 stack. 80 players will be sharing in the prizes for this one, but with 169 players still in the game, there will be some work to do yet on Day 2.

Online Event #1: $333 No-Limit Hold'em Triple Treys Summer Tip Off

The first online bracelet of 2023 has been awarded with Cody "1eggadayMike" Bell taking down the top spot for more than $87k and his first bracelet over Douglas "OpenOpen" May. There were 1,330 entries for a prize pool of $634,800 with 240 players sharing in the prizes.
