Sports Betting Tips: Torino – Cagliari (Feb 27th)

The last one was a strange round in Serie A to say the least, with all the teams in the top 6 dropping points! Sassuolo doing well against big teams is one thing, but I'm very surprised that Milan would drop points against Salernitana. Nice to see that the ball is still in Serie A and the battle for the Scudetto continues.

Torino beat back big brother Juventus in the Derby della Mole in a 1-1 game where Bremer once again shut down Vlahovic and Belotti saved the points for Torino - a boost for the Bulls who lost the game before against Venezia.

The Sicilians are holding steady and continue to pick up points. Very strong last time when they played 1-1 at home against Napoli!

On Sunday they meet in Turin and I think it will be a much closer game than the odds say!

I bet Cagliari +1 (asian) @ 1.75!

Torino

Torino, as I said, went on a blunder last home game against Venezia and it's not without wondering if things would start to falter a bit after that. Sure, Belotti's late disallowed goal was questionable but the effort was also weak. Obviously it means a lot to the whole team to have the captain back in what looks to be his last season in Torino. I think it raises both morale and confidence for the team, we'll see how far it goes in the end.

Torino's top level is undoubtedly better than their opponents but they have shown time and again how difficult it is for them to win games, with or without Belotti. This is also the reason why they are in 10th place and not, like Fiorentina, competing for the European places. They should rightly be favourites as they often do well at home, but they lack stability and don't deserve this much favouritism.

Cagliari

Walter boys are going like crazy in Serie A now! Four straight games without a loss and then they have, as mentioned earlier, taken points from Fiorentina, beaten Atalanta and now most recently drew 1-1 against Napoli. It's no small numbers and they shone with confidence against Napoli when they were able to lead the game for large parts of the first half.

I find it hard to see Cagliari packing it in game-wise here, nor have they made much difference whether they've played home or away, so I like their chances here.

Betting tips

It feels a bit like a "when an unstoppable force meets an unstoppable object". Yes it is, albeit on a Series A level!

Both teams keep a, relatively, good pressing game all over the pitch. Both teams have a good work ethic, good attitude and reasonably physical play.

With Belotti back, Torino will be dangerous, but Cagliari will still be tagged for this game and here I think Torino have become too big favourites. The odds in Serie A have been too low on the home favourites for a while but it often takes a lot to go against the big teams when there is such a big class difference.

However, here's a case where I think we can take advantage of that being wrong. It's at +1 that things start to get really interesting. Even though Torino often wins this, I value the probability of them winning by 2 lower than the market does right now. I think the split in that case, in Cagliari's favour, should be more than the 57% that the odds give us. Torino is not a top team and shouldn't have odds like one either!
