Fortune Wheel Spin to Win

One might expect the “run good” switch to always be on with a screenname like ‘RunGodlike’ that British mixed-game superstar Benny Glaser uses at PokerStars.

Glaser is by far a one-trick pony as last night he won his second World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) title this festival after defeating Slovakia’s ‘Samustti’ heads-up to win the 2022 WCOOP 18-H: $1,050 PLO 6-Max for $39,638. The tournament attracted a field of 202 entries to squeak past the $200,000 guarantee with a $202,000 prize pool.

It has been quite the start for Glaser as this came off a win earlier this week when he defeated another British baller in Patrick “pads1161” Leonard heads-up in the $2,100 HORSE event to bank $33,300. Interestingly enough, Leonard appeared on the podium during both of Glaser’s victories during the 2022 WCOOP as Leonard took third place in the PLO event.

“It feels great,” Glaser shared with PokerListings. “It’s obviously an incredible start to the series.”

Lucky 13 COOP Titles

This author is always silently rooting for Glaser. Not just because of the similarities of our surnames but also the fact that he is known to be one of the nicest guys in poker and one of the best-mixed game players in the world.

Glaser has proven the latter part of my statement by not only winning two WCOOP events this year but winning at least one WCOOP during each of the past five years for six titles in total. This is just part of Glaser’s online success at PokerStars as he has also notched a whopping seven Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) titles, including one this year, for a lucky 13 total COOP titles!

Not a single one of Glaser’s COOP titles came in the most popular variant in poker in no-limit hold’em. Although one of his titles did come in fixed-limit hold’em, most of his titles came in other mixed games that are typically more popular in the United States than in Europe.

The British mixed-game phenom is aiming for at least a hattrick of WCOOP titles this festival. PokerListings asked what events Glaser felt he would be most likely to win next.

“The events that I’m most likely to win in again are the High mixed events,” Glaser shared. “As that’s really where I specialize and the fields are relatively smaller. Lots of them are still to come that I’m looking forward to! 🙂”

Glaser Also a Live Mixed Game Beast

While 13 COOP titles are impressive with most players dreaming of winning just one, Glaser’s success doesn’t end at the online felts. In fact, Glaser is the most accomplished British poker player of all time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) where he has won a British record of four WSOP gold bracelets and cashed for a whopping 48 times for more than $2.9 million in earnings.

Glaser has amassed more than $3.5 million in live poker tournaments to place him in 26th place on The Hendon Mob England All Time Money List. While he likely will never catch up to the likes of the British leader in Stephen Chidwick with more than $44 million in earnings on the live felts, his total is very impressive considering most of it is from mixed game events which don’t often run nosebleed buy-ins as Chidwick has at his disposal as one of the best no-limit hold’em players in the world.

Until yesterday, American poker pro Ben Tollerene was silent the past few years on the live felts with his last recorded cash coming before the COVID-19 pandemic when he shipped the British Poker Open Event #10: £103,000 No Limit Hold’em for £840,000.

That all changed in a big way yesterday with Tollerene coming up with yet another victory after agreeing to a heads-up deal with Brazilian crusher and partypoker Ambassador Yuri Dzivelevski in the Triton Super High Roller Series (SHRS) Cyprus Event #2: 30,000 No-Limit Hold’em to bank $807,927.

Yesterday’s victory at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Casino catapulted Tollerene to more than $10 million in live tournament earnings tracked by The Hendon Mob but this only tells half the story. Tollerene is a notorious nosebleed Omaha cash game crusher under “Ben86” at PokerStars and other screennames elsewhere.

“I’m very tired,” Tollerene said after the victory to Triton. “I was sort of stressed because I haven’t played poker in a while and I was struggling to remember everything.”

Despite the big win by Tollerene in just his second career Triton event, this event might be remembered by many poker enthusiasts for something else thanks to a huge call with just ten-high by Viktor Kudinov early at the unofficial final table.

Sick Call by Kudinov with Ten-High

Yesterday, we reported an amazing call by Patrick Antonius with three players remaining in the inaugural event. Antonius went on to win the Triton SHRS Cyprus Event #1: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em for a whopping $825,000.

A perhaps even sicker call took place with eight players remaining by Kudinov. Although Kudinov was unable to get too far at the final table, this hand will go down in poker history as one of the most epic calls of all time.

The blinds were at 50,000/100,000 along with a big blind ante of 100,000. The hand began simply enough with GGPoker Ambassador and Pokercode founder Fedor Holz opening for 240,000 from the small blind with the 6 4 and Kudinov defending his big blind with the 10 9 .

It didn’t appear at first that much would develop with both player opting to check the Q 2 K flop. Holz then barrelled for 175,000 with air after the K turn paired the board and Kudinov called with his gutshot. Both players bricked the A river but this didn’t stop Holz from trying to steal the pot with a bet of 340,000.

“Flatting with ten-high would literally be the sexiest thing I’ve seen in a Triton (event) so far, and we’ve seen some very sexy plays,” Triton Poker commentator Ali Nejad said as Kudinov used a time bank card.

Somehow, Kudinov managed to find a call with just ten-high to the amazement of the commentators and poker fans.

“Oh my god,” Nejad said from the booth after the call. “Did he just call with ten-high?”

“Wow, show everyone,” Triton commentator Randy Lew added. “This ten-nine high is sick.”

The Triton Event #2: $30,000 No-Limit Hold’em attracted a banner field of 123 entries including 46 re-entries to generate a $3,698,100 prize pool. The top 17 players each took home at least a min-cash of $58,000.

Triton SHRS Cyprus Event #2 Final Table Recap

Kudinov began the final day with the chip lead among the 17 hopefuls shooting for the title. Meanwhile, both eventual winner Tollerene and eventual runner-up Dzielevski began the day near the bottom of the pack.

Wai Kin Yong, Sam Greenwood, Kannapong Thanarattrakul, Razavi Melika, Jason Koon, Artur Martirosyan, Nicolas Chouity, 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Espen Jorstad, Pedro Garagnani, and Triton Poker co-founder Paul Phua were all among the players to advance to the second and final day in the money but were unable to appear at the official final table.

Although Kudinov managed to ladder up one spot after making an amazing call with ten-high, he wasn’t able to get any further after his suited big slick was unable to win a flip against Dzivielevski’s jacks. This catapulted Dzivielevski into the chip lead to begin the official final table of six players with Tollerene in the middle of the pack.

Triton SHRS Cyprus Event #2 Final Table
Triton SHRS Cyprus Event #2 Final Table

It was all Dzivielevski and Tollerene at the final table. Dzivielvski ousted Ignacio Moron Chavero before Tollerene took care of both Alex Keating and Holz. Dvielevski was quickly back at it against and picked off a bluff with just ace-high on a queen-nine-four flop and sent British poker baller Stephen Chidwick packing in third place after his opponent’s jack-eight didn’t get there.

Tollerene held the chip lead during heads-up play before the duo agreed on a deal that guaranteed Tollerene at least $777,927 and Dzivelevski at least $749,073 with $30,000, the trophy, the Shamballa Jewels bracelet, and, of course, bragging rights still on the line.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Tollerene during heads-up action as Dzivielevski found a double when his queen-jack was good against queen-five. This title could have easily at this point gone to Dzivielevski if the poker gods were on his side but instead, he doubled Tollerene when his ace-seven failed to hold against king-queen.

The final hand was a bit of a cooler for Dzivielevski. It began with Holz limping the button with ace-queen and Dzivielevski checking back his option from the big blind with queen-eight suited.

Both players improved to top pair on the queen-six-deuce flop with Tollerene still in the lead in the hand with the top kicker. Dzivielevski check-raised and Tollerene called. An eight on the turn improved Dzivielevski to two pair and he fired out for about one-third of his remaining stack. Tollerene called and hit Yahtzee with a better two-pair after an ace spiked the river.

Dzivielevski bet out about half his stack and called off for the other half after Tollerene raised only to get the bad news. Despite missing out on the title, Dzivielevski should still feel good about the deal softening the blow.

Congrats to Ben Tollerene for another amazing win!

The poker Twitterverse exploded on Tuesday after Patrik Antonius defeated Fahredin Mustafov heads-up in the Triton Super High Roller Series (SHRS) Event #1: $25,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $825,000 at the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Casino in North Cyprus.

It wasn’t Antonius’ first career victory at a Triton event or the fact that he nearly banked $1 million that had the poker world gasping in amazement as The poker world expects as much from the Finnish poker legend as he has been notching big win after big win for about two decades and has earned almost $14 million in live tournament cashes as tracked by The Hendon Mob.

Instead, it was a viral hand with just three players remaining that could have sent Antonius to the rail that caught the eyes of some of the biggest names in poker.

“It has some special feel,” Antonius said after the victory according to Triton. “Triton is growing … all the top players are playing this tournament, so it’s nice to win, I have to say. And it’s a nice way to start a series like this.”

Amazing Hero Call by Antonius

The hand which could be nominated for a 2023 GPI Best Hand award began simply enough with Mustafov min-raising the button to 800,000 with 10 8 and Antonius defending his big blind with J 2 .

Antonius improved to bottom pair once the 7 2 6 rolled out on the flop and check-called a bet of 700,000. Antonius checked out of position again after the Q followed on the turn. Mustafov fired out a bigger bet of 1,400,000 and Antonius went into the tank before he found a call.

Mustafov was unable to connect with the board after the A came on the river. This didn’t slow the Bulgarian down after Patrik Antonius checked once again. Instead, Mustafov jammed for more than 10 million and Antonius went into the tank for about six minutes.

“Can he make the call for the sickest hand of this tournament!?” asked Triton commentator Randy Lew

“The fact that he’s even considering making the hero call here with bottom pair,” co-commentator Henry Kilbane chimed in.

Eventually, Antonius found a call to the shock of the commentators and those watching the action with hole cards exposed on a delay at the TritonPoker Twitch channel.

“Take a bow, sir,” Kilbane respectfully said after the hand.

Event #1 attracted a banner field of 131 entries including 34 re-entries to create a $3,275,000 prize pool. The top 17 players banked at least a min-cash of $51,400 with all eight final tablists earning at least a six-figure haul.

Final Day Action

All eyes were on Triton Poker co-founder Paul Phua to start the day as he bagged the overnight chip lead. Fate wasn’t on Phua’s side as he managed to be the first of the 16 returning players to hit the rail.

Santi Jiang, Artem Vezhenkov, Eric Worre, Ivan Leow, Selahaddin Bedir, Viktor Kudinov, and Bruno Volkmann also hit the rail in the money before the final table began.

Triton Poker history was made even before the final table began thanks to Ebony Kenny becoming the first final female player ever to appear at the Cyprus Triton Poker final table. To make things even more interesting, Kenny began the final table with the chip lead while Antonius held one of the shorter stacks in play.

Ebony Kenny in triton poker cyprus
Ebony Kenny

Seth Davies was the first player to hit the rail at the final table when his ace-four suited was unable to get there against Mustafov’s sixes. Antonius then chipped up by eliminating both Viacheslav Buldygin when his ace-queen was good against king-jack and Kannapong Thanarattrakul after his fives won a flip against king-queen.

Shortly after, Kenny found herself short on chips in her quest to become the first female Triton Poker champion. She seemingly got her 10 big blind stack in a good spot with ace-queen but ran into Mustafov’s cowboys to hit the rail in fifth place.

Mustafov continued to roll and easily had the biggest stack in play and added even more chips to start three-handed play when his ace-ten held against queen-nine to oust the short-stacked Danny Tang.

Steve O’Dwyer, who was down to one big blind during four-handed play, managed to ladder up and gain a little bit of breathing room before time ran out. After his viral hand against Mustafov, Antonius was able to snag O’Dwyer’s stack with his ace-seven staying ahead of king-six.

The heads-up battle was nearly over before it began as it lasted just three hands. The chips went in after Antonius flopped a straight with seven-six suited. Mustafov held jacks and was unable to get a runner-runner miracle to hit the rail just short of the title in second place for $557,000.

A massive congrats to one of the nicest guys in poker Patrik Antonius for winning his first Triton Poker title.

Lithuanian and Australian businessman, politician, philanthropist, and all-around poker boss Antanas Guoga has once again found poker glory as he shipped the Meditteranean Poker Party (MPP) $10,400 High Roller for $257,500 after agreeing to a heads-up deal with American Alex Pelfy at the Merit Diamond Royal Hotel and Casino.

Guoga, better known to the poker world as ‘Tony G’, has been at it on the cash game and tournament poker felts for more than two decades. He is currently the leader on The Hendon Mob Lithuanian All Time Money List with $10,810,296 in recorded live tournament cashes. The victory catapulted poker’s bad boy into 98th place on the Worldwide All Time Money List ahead of the likes of David Pham and Darren Elias.

Tony G sent many players on their bike en route to his 24th six-figure cash.

“Nice victory this time,” Tony G shared on Facebook after his victory. “Champagne for the casino. Cyprus is a lucky place. Managed to knock out 5 Russians along the path to victory. In the final table knocked out the great Australian K (Kahle) Burns. Stephen Chidwick and Danny Tang were tough opponents. Ultimately it’s a confidence builder that I can still compete after so many years away from the circuit.”

The MPP $10,400 High Roller attracted 149 entries for a $1,490,000 prize pool to smash the $1,000,000 guarantee slapped on the event by nearly 50 percent.

Final Table Recap

It was a star-studded final table with the likes of Tony G, Stephen Chidwick, Danny Tang, and Kahle Burns all in the mix with six players remaining heading into the final day.

Kahle Burns entered the Hold’em action with the shortest stack and was soon on the rail in sixth place. It wasn’t all sunshine and daydreams for Danny Tang and Andrea Ricci who entered the final table with the two biggest stacks. Tang’s stack fell apart before hitting the rail in fifth place with Ricci managing to make it to the podium to finish just outside the deal in third place. Meanwhile, Chickwick finished in between these two players with a fourth place performance worth a cool $100,000.

Stacks were shallow when Tony G and Pelfy agreed to a deal to reduce the $105,000 scheduled paybump from second to first place. This worked out well for Pelfy who ultimately hit the rail in second place for $247,500. Meanwhile, a huge congrats to Tony G, who is staying in Cyprus to play in the Triton Series Cyprus from Sept. 5-19.

The buzz around the Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party (MPP) at the Merit Royal Hotel & Casino picked up when 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion Espen Jorstad announced he would attend and play a full schedule of events including the Triton Poker $200,000 Coin River Invitational.

Yong Defeats Jorstad Heads-Up in The One Drop

Luxon Pay Co-Founder Rob Yong invited Jorstad to the $200,000 Coin River Invitational and both players found early success in The One Drop on Sunday before Yong defeated Jorstad to win his first live poker tournament for $87,000.

Despite Jorstad missing out on the trophy, he did manage to bank $52,600 for his runner-up performance while ACR CEO Phil Nagy banked $35,000 for his third-place finish.

The $11,111 buy-in event raised $19,998 in charitable contributions to the One Drop Foundation, which provides access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, thanks to the tidy field of 18 players.

“Intoxicated Irish Fellow” Sparks Controversy

Jorstad managed some early success on the tables but some drama found his way as well with what was described by Jorstad as “a clearly intoxicated Irish fellow” got in his face during a meet-up game. Although it couldn’t have been pleasant for the Norwegian WSOP Main Event champion, the encounter was deescalated before Jorstad took to social media.

The drama centered on what many would describe as a misunderstanding between Jorstad and well-known Greek poker pro Alex “Pwndidi” Theologis.

Theologis reached out to Jorstad on Day 7 of the WSOP Main Event wishing Jorstad good luck and looking to confirm that he swapped 3% of his action which would mean an eventual pretax payout of $300,000 based on Jorstad’s $10,000,000 haul.

Jorstad replied that he didn’t recall a conversation and didn’t have any evidence of a swap taking place.

“F*** I knew this would happen when I didn’t write down in chat with my (swaps),” Theologis messaged Jorstad. “I am sure that we swapped 3% at some point, maybe it was on our way or during dinner? Maybe at the wynn? I’m not sure at what point but I’ve swapped with everyone and I’m very confident we swapped.”

“That’s awkward indeed,” Jorstad replied. “I don’t remember swapping with you, and I have all my swaps in a list here.”

Although Jorstad refused to pay, he did offer arbitration by reputable members of the poker community such as Ike Haxton and Mike “Timex” McDonald and if ruled against, pay Theologis the disputed 3% of his winnings.

Jorstad’s TwitLonger explanation of the situation was highlighted by some key points.

  • Before the main event we had only met twice, and we have never swapped in anything else.
  • I have no recollection of swapping with him.
  • I did not have it written down.
  • He did not have it written down.
  • We had nothing about it in our chat.
  • For every other swap during WSOP I immediately wrote it down in my own document + confirmed in chats. I have to assume this is routine on his part too.
  • Alex did not remember when or where we had this swap convo, or any other details about it.

The former Unibet Poker ambassador Jorstad has had a stellar reputation for years. Thus it should come as no surprise that the poker community in general sides with him.

Meanwhile, Theologis also never had a black eye with no reported problems after numerous swapping deals in the past. Theologis pointed out in an interview with PokerNews that although the conversation about the alleged swap was “long before the final table was made,” he also has moved on with no plans on making anything public.

“Our last communication was over a month ago about the swap,” Theologis said to PokerNews. “I’m not making drama out of it, I’m not asking for him to pay me. I understand that if he doesn’t remember it and I have no proof, it doesn’t matter. It’s over.”

Why Public Now?

So why is this coming to light for many in the poker community only now? After all, a month has passed since their last communication and both Theologis and Jorstad appeared to put the issue to rest for more than a month.

It appears an unrelated party got wind of the situation and aggressively approached Jorstad in a situation Jorstad described on social media.

To go back to the situation I mentioned at the beginning… During a meet-up game I was playing in Cyprus two nights ago, a clearly intoxicated Irish fellow came up to my table and pointed at me, saying «pay the man his money, pay the man his money. You know what I’m talking about, pay him his 3%». He proceeded to get right up to me and said stuff like «do you want to discuss it outside??» etc in a pretty aggro manner, basically hinting there would be violence if I did not pay Alex. I calmly told him that «I’m not sure what you’ve heard, and from who, but I don’t owe Alex 3%.» I explained that my conscience was clean, and in the end he said he believed me, and walked off. Fwiw I have no reason to believe that Alex knows this Irish guy, and he probably just heard about the situation through the grapevine. I by no means think that Alex would want this situation to occur.

Regardless, it was a very uncomfortable situation, having a drunk aggro guy in my face «wanting to discuss it outside», and questioning my integrity and credibility in a public setting. It’s also not the first time I get approached with this, as I also got a DM on Instagram a couple of weeks ago, telling me to «pay Alex his 3%».

Espen Uhlen Jørstad · @UhlenPoker

Hopefully airing out the situation provides some additional closure for both Jorstad and Theologis instead of opening up any old wounds and we wish Jorstad the best of luck the rest of the way in Cyprus including in TheFestival.com $1,100 Pot-Limit Omaha event on Saturday, Sept. 3 and TheFestival.com $550 HORSE event on Sunday, Sept. 4.

Golf fans dream of playing a round with Tiger Woods, Sunday League football hobbyists would give anything to have a kickabout with Cristiano Ronaldo and the folks at the tennis club dream of firing their best serve at Roger Federer… but these are, indeed, dreams.

Poker fans, on the other hand, sometimes do get the chance to battle it out – and literally rub shoulders with – the game’s stars at the tables, and this is exactly the case at the Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party, which is currently underway at the shiny new Merit Royal Diamond Hotel in North Cyprus, and continues until 19th September.

Espen Jorstad. Winner of WSOP 2022 Main Event

The big name in question in this case is Espen Jorstad, who this summer catapulted himself from poker player to poker megastar when he became the 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion, trousering a cool $10,000,000 in the process. Espen will be playing host in the popular holiday destination from 8pm local time on 27th August, with special guest appearances at cash game tables with limits expected to include 5/10, 25/25, 50/100 and 100/200, thus giving poker enthusiasts the opportunity to pit their wits against the new kid on the block across numerous stakes.

Schedule for The Festival in Bratislava 2022

» All you need to know about The Festival in Bratislava 2022

September sees the summer haze fade away as the sun takes more of a back seat, and it’s time to retreat indoors… But who cares? Poker fans certainly don’t! In fact, any poker player worth their salt will be licking their lips at the prospect of kicking back and taking full advantage of the latest edition of the partypoker extravaganza that is MILLIONS Online, an action-packed tournament series that’s guaranteed to keep the proverbial juices flowing from 1-26 September.

It’s called Party for a reason, and there’ll be plenty of fun from start to finish, with as many as 15 enormous tournament events boasting a total guaranteed payout of over $6,000,000… Life-changing sums are there for the taking, not least the nose-bleed $2,000,000 up for grabs in the $3,200 buy-in Main Event. It’s almost a cliché when so much money is at stake to suggest that players are going for glory when sitting down to play these major, so-called blue-ribon events of the poker world, but this is indeed one of those tournaments that we all would like to win. As usual, the everyman approach adopted by partypoker means that big buy-ins don’t mean big money events are available only to those with bulging bankrolls – a comprehensive satellite set-up means that anyone can throw their poker cap in the ring.

Be In It to Win It

The Main Event is absolutely worth trying to qualify for. It’s not just the money and fame that makes the tournament attractive, but the structure, too, is very user-friendly. Players start with 1,000,000 chips and the 20-minute Blinds kick off at 2,500/5,000 with a 625 ante. This translates to a healthy 25BB starting stack for those seeking to dive in all guns blazing when late registration ends at the end of the 12th level! With SIX Day 1 flights to have a go at, it’s even possible to enter the fray via a turbo-structured qualifier as late as the evening of Day 2 on 26 September, and a nice touch is that the clock then extends to 30-minutes, as befits such a prestigious event.

Meanwhile, there’s a host of other tournaments in which to make your presence felt, with buy-ins starting at $109 for those happy to forego the cut-price qualification route. The $1,575 buy-in $250,000 GTD Opener PKO, for example, gives players the chance to really rack up those dollars in bounties, and the $162 buy-in Mini Opener PKO has a far from mini GTD prize pool of $100,000. The $530 Super 500 will pay out at least $500,000, and the $109 buy-in Super 100 has a super $300,000 on offer.

Given the fact that it’s possible to win tournament seats for a teeny weeny 1c, the MILLIONS Online Party is a real money poker shindig there’s no excuse for missing out on.

Here’s the schedule:

Note that every one of the 15 scheduled MILLIONS Online events has numerous Day 1 flights across various start times so that you’ll be able to find a time slot that suits. Furthermore, reduced late registration and single re-entry per flight emphasises the partypoker philosophy that helps maintain a level playing field for all.

Make Day 2, Make the Money

It’s nice to be able to battle through to Day 2 of an event and know that a prize is already in the bag, and that’s exactly the set-up during MILLIONS Online at partypoker. Once a Day 1 tournament is down to the last 15% of the field, play ends and these remaining players go through to Day 2, with everyone guaranteed at least a min cash.

Spin It to Win It

See what we did there?! If you’re a Spins fan, then you’ll be pleased to learn that thanks to MILLIONS Online SPINS you’ll be able to earn series tickets worth up to $3,200, thus adding another reduced route to events to the $0.01 buy-in Centrolls and other satellites.

For the first time in three years, the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) was held in Barcelona and the main event of this tournament was the biggest ever. After six days, Italy’s Giuliano Bendinelli prevailed after an impressive rally in the final to win the title, as well as nearly €1.5 million.

Key Facts EPT Barcelona

Giuliano Bendinelli
  • Date: August 14 – 21, 2022
  • Place: Casino Barcelona
  • Players: 2,294 entries
  • Buy-In: €4,850 + €450
  • Prize Pool: €11,125,900
  • Winner: Giuliano Bendinelli (€1,491,133)

After the first two starting days and a short late registration period for the start of the second day of play in the EPT Barcelona Main Event, it was clear that this tournament was going to break all records. With 2,294 entries, it was the largest field of players ever, well ahead of the previous record holder, the 2019 European Poker Tour Barcelona with 1,988 entries.

More than €11.1 million was played for, and both the winner and runner-up would take home seven-figure prizes. Numerous big-name players made it into the money ranks, with the top 328 players ultimately paid. Scott Margereson (8th place), Jack Salter (15th), Gaelle Baumann (26th), Maria Lampropulos (36th), Noah Boeken (42nd), defending champion Simon Brandstrom (53rd), Jack Sinclair (78th), Chino Rheem (93rd) and Benjamin Pollak (96th) all made it into the top 100.

Chip and Chair for Bendinelli

The most remarkable story of the tournament was written by the Italian Giuliano Bendinelli. He already managed to win the €1,100 Monaco Cup nine years ago at the EPT Monte Carlo and was no stranger to the poker scene. But the really big throw was denied to him until now.

Bendinelli entered the final table with 10.7 million chips in position 4 of 6 in the count. At the very beginning of the final table, however, he lost almost all of his chips in one hand. This started with Jimmy Guerrero raising from first position with A-K to 2 big blinds. Bendinelli then moved all in from the button with A-Q for 12 big blinds. Guerrero called and was in the lead with the better ace. The board brought no help for the Italian and after losing the all-in he was left with just 478,000 chips – barely more than the amount of a big blind at this point. What followed was to be a repeat of the famous chip-and-chair story.

Giuliano Bendinelli Catches Up

Two hands later, Bendinelli more than tripled up with A-4 when he was all-in against 6-5 and Q-5 and won the hand. Just a little later, the Italian shoved all-in with K-8 from early position for 3.5 big blind and was called by Kayhan Moki with A-J. Mokri had the better hand, but Bendinelli hit two kings on the board to double up his chips. This gave him a stack to work with again. A few orbits later, Bendinelli won his next all-in, this time with K-Q against K-J and suddenly he had 30 big blinds and was second in the chip count with only four players left in the tournament.

After that, Bendinelli single-handedly eliminated the Brazilians Fabiano Kovalsi and Neville Costa in 4th and 3rd place, respectively, and was the chip leader in heads-up against Frenchman Jimmy Guerrero. Before that heads-up began, the two players agreed on a deal that distributed most of the prize money according to their chip counts. The title and around 70,000 euros in prize money were still played for afterward.

Heads-Up in Barcelona

6-Outer and Quads against Full House to End the Tournament

In the heads-up duel, Jimmy Guerrero was able to take the lead for a while and briefly had more than three times as many chips as Bendinelli, but Fortuna stayed with the Italian. On a T-8-6 flop, Bendinelli placed a bet with 9-9 and Guerrero shoved all in with Q-T. Bendinelli called and was at a distinct disadvantage with a worse pair, having only six outs. But a 7 fell on the river, giving him a straight. He doubled his stack and a little while later Bendinelli took the lead again.

The game went back and forth for a while before the final hand when Giuliano Bendinelli raised to 2.5 big blinds with 8 8 and Jimmy Guerrero defended his big blind with J 7 . The flop gave both players something: J 9 8 – top pair against a set. Bendinelli bet 2 big blinds after a check and Guerrero called. After the J arrived on the turn, Guerrero now had trips and Bendinelli a full house. The Italian bet 4.5 big blinds and again Guerrero just called. The river came brought the 8 – quads for Bendinelli and a full house for Guerrero. Now the Frenchman bet 3 big blinds and Bendinelli moved all in for around 15 big blinds. Guerrero called and that was the end of this remarkable hand and the tournament.

Giuliano Bendinelli won the tournament in spectacular fashion and became the third Italian EPT Champion after Salvatore Bonavena and Antonio Buonanno. In an interview after the victory, Bendinelli told Pokernews, “I can’t believe it. This is the best day of my life. I am speechless. I’m proud of how I played, but I needed luck, like in the last hand with quads against a full house.”

Bendinelli won nearly 1.5 million euros. His French opponent Jimmy Guerrero took home 1.25 million euros – also an outstanding result.

Players must be 21 or older to enter, and only one package may be won per player. For full terms and conditions, visit the WPT Global website.

Lucky package winners will need to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements. The $10,400 World Championship will take place on the 12th-18th of December 2022, and there will be 3 starting flights – Day 1a is on the 12th, Day 1b on the 13th and 1c on the 14th, with players being allowed one entry per starting flight. The tournament will last 6 days in total with the final table being filmed for TV, which will take place at the Esports Arena in Las Vegas on the 18th.

What else is happening during the World Championship?

WPT has two other tournaments on the schedule for this monstrous series – both of these mighty side events feature an astonishing $2 million guaranteed prize pool, and the Wynn sees the return of one of it’s most popular tournament formats to date – the Mystery Bounty.

The first event, appropriately named the “Prime Championship”, will take place before the Main Event. It will be a 4 day tournament, again featuring a televised final table from the Esports Arena. The $1100 Prime Championship will run from the 8th-12th of December, again with 3 starting flights spread across the first 3 days. This time however, players are entitled to as many reentries per flight as they wish.

The second featured event is the $1600 Mystery Bounty, a format which has drawn record numbers wherever and whenever it’s run! The demand for the inventive tournament style is massive and generally provides a buzz in the room that other tournaments simply can’t match. While bounties are traditionally the same value as each other, the Mystery Bounty concept does away with that tradition and instead, divides the bounty prize pool into a number of different value bounties, generally featuring one preposterous bounty at the top. When a player eliminates another player from the tournament, they then randomly draw a bounty from the pile, adding new layers of excitement to tournament poker!

The WPT Texas Hold’em Mystery Bounty will run from the 16th-19th, again with 3 starting flights with Day 1c, the final flight, taking place on the 18th. Again, players can take advantage of unlimited reentries. This means that almost everyone will get the chance to play, the only players who won’t be able to jump in to this mammoth event are those who have made it to Day 5 of the World Championship – a fine problem to have! This tournament will be a 2 day event, with the final day being the 19th.

$1600 WPT Mystery Bounty $2m GTD – December 16-19

Good luck, and remember, always gamble responsibly.

For a tiny island, Malta certainly has a massive – and well deserved – reputation as a great place to play poker. It is, of course, an attractive destination regardless, and as much as some might erroneously believe that poker players are subterranean beings who rarely emerge into daylight, the sun, sea and nightlife that are in abundance in Malta make it an easy choice.

With this in mind, it’s fitting that partypoker LIVE will make a return to the Mediterranean hotspot on October 24-31, with the excellent Portomaso Casino playing host. A nice touch is that partypoker are teaming up with the very popular Malta Poker Festival, with the result being that poker fans can look forward to a week’s worth of tasty-looking events (see the Schedule, below).

The €550 buy-in GRAND Event, boasting a €500,000 guaranteed prize pool, is sure to bring in the numbers that will include both qualifiers and locals alike. The latter have a passion for the game that can see long lines of eager hopefuls snaking into the playing area in the run-up to kick-off.

Qualify for the Malta Poker Festival via partypoker

Of course, you can beat these queues and qualify at bargain basement prices via partypoker – and it’s well worth winning your way to the tables given the juicy €2,000 Malta Poker Festival VIP Packages up for grabs when hitting the satellites.

Here’s what you’ll receive when you get your hands on a VIP Package:

  • 5 nights’ accommodation (October 27-31) for TWO at the luxurious Hilton Hotel
  • €550 buy-in to the Grand Event
  • All-In Friday entrance to Club Level 22
  • Casino Buffet during tournament play
  • VIP Concierge Service

That’s quite a package (what self-respecting poker fan doesn’t need a VIP Concierge Service, after all?). You can already jump into the Satellite action, and the set-up couldn’t be any more bankroll-friendly, given that it’s possible to start the quest to Malta for as little as €1.25… it’s the ultimate no-brainer.

This is how the qualifying phases work:

  • Play €1.25 Feeder to win entry to Phase 1
  • Play €12.50 Phase 1 to win entry to Phase Final
  • Play €125 Phase Final to win a €2,000 MPF VIP Package [2 x GTD]

With both Feeders and Phase 1 Satellites running daily, and Phase finals being held every Sunday between August 21 and October 23, there are plenty of opportunities to win your way to a fun-filled break of poker in the sun and, don’t forget, a shot at fame and fortune…

The Summer Festival on WPT Global is entering its final week and two big events are still on the menu: the $1,000,000 gtd. Main Event and the $100,000 gtd. Mini Main Event. Originally, the final of the $1 for $1,000,000 tournament was also scheduled for this weekend, but the provider decided to extend the tournament by a month and a half to give more players the opportunity to participate. Players who had already qualified for Day 2 of the tournament will be given a ticket to the Summer Festival Main Event worth $330 by WPT Global as compensation for the last-minute schedule change.

New Schedule for the 1-1m Tournament

WPT Global announced it has decided, after careful consideration, to reschedule Days 2 and 3 of the $1 for $1,000,000 tournament. Day 2 will now take place on Saturday, October 1 and the final will be held on Sunday, October 2.

The provider gives two reasons for the new dates:

  • They want to give as many players as possible the chance to participate in the event and play for their share of the $1 million prize pool.
  • They are planning improvements to the software that will enhance the gaming experience on WPT Global, especially for tournaments with many players.

WPT Global stresses that the final is not postponed to avoid an overlay. The event was designed as a defacto freeroll with a guaranteed overlay of over $900,000 and even if thousands of additional players enter the event due to the new schedule, it will not make a significant difference in the cost with a buy-in of only $1.

To compensate for the inconvenience, WPT Global is giving all players who had already qualified for Day 2 of the tournament a free ticket to the Summer Festival Main Event worth $330.

Summer Festival Main Events this Week

This week’s Summer Festival on WPT Global features the two Main Events.

The big Main Event has a buy-in of $330 and guarantees $1,000,000. There are several starting flights until August 20 and this tournament uses the best stack forward principle. Players can play multiple starting flights and continue to Day 2 with their best stack. Day 2 of the tournament will be played on August 21 and the final is scheduled for August 22.

Running concurrently is the Mini Main Event with a $33 buy-in and a $100,000 guarantee.

Additional Bonus During the Summer Festival

If players make their initial deposit at WPT Global by August 22, there will be an additional bonus. They receive a ticket for the Summer Festival for free.

Which ticket is awarded depends on the amount of the first deposit:

  • $10 to $149.99: a $1 ticket to the $1 For $1 Million tournament
  • $150 to $1499.99: A $33 ticket to the Mini Summer Main Event
  • More than $1,500: A $330 ticket to the Summer Main Event

Depending on the first deposit amount this bonus is worth up to 22% of the first deposit. On top of that WPT Global offers their regular $1,200 first deposit bonus.

After nearly 12 hours of play on the final day, Denmark’s Arian Kashi defeated local Czech player Pavel Stribrny heads-up to win the 2022 partypoker Championship (PPC) €330 Main Event for a massive prize of €100,000.

There couldn’t have been a more excited champion than Kashi who screamed while posing for photos “I’m a champ!” loud enough for everyone at King’s Resort to hear.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Kashi. Despite coming into the final day in second place among the 29 remaining contenders, he was in last place with eight players to go. He was able to snag the lead temporarily but it wasn’t until heads-up play that he was able to seal the deal.

“It was a hard day,” Kashi said after his victory. “It was a fight and I’m thrilled to win.”

The PPC Czech Main Event awarded Day 1a seats to the WSOP Europe Main Event valued at €10,350 as part of the prize to the final six winners. Kashi has big plans for that as well.

“I’m going to win that as well,” Kashi shared about the WSOP Europe Main Event.

Players often after hoisting the trophy fail to show excitement and are ready for bed, this wasn’t the case for Kashi who was seen after the victory prancing around the casino and the buffet with his well-earned trophy in hand. He plans to continue to celebrate with his very supportive rail who were rooting him on from the beginning of the day until the end.

“I’m probably going to go to Prague with my friends and have a party,” Kashi shared with a huge smile.

The Main Event itself was a huge success story with 2,261 entries generating a huge €644,385 prize pool to smash the €500,000 guarantee. The 341 entries that bagged up from the eight live opening flights at King’s Resort and three online opening flights at partypoker each cashed for €600 with the prizes increasing in a huge way from there.

Final Day Action

The final day began with 29 hopefuls in the hunt for the title with “Matze P” kicking off the action with the chip lead closely followed by Kashi. “Matze P” was unable to make the final table which began after Walter Van Camberg was unable to win a flip with big slick against tens. Similar to the start of the day, Kashi began the final table second in chips only behind Witali Reinbold.

Reinbold had the early momentum at the final table when his jacks held against the ace-queen held by Christophe Cosenza while Kashi already lost a big pot and was in last place to start a marathon with eight players remaining. Kashi got back into things by doubling through Reindbold when his big slick was good against ace-queen and soon after Kashi temporarily took his first lead at the final table. Hours later, Reinbold went hero to zero and hit the rail when his ace-nine proved to be no good against Stribrny’s ace-jack.

Stribrny extended his lead to hold double the chips of his nearest competitor when his tens dominated fours to send Jakub Kotas to the showers in seventh place. Shortly after, Kashi took his second lead at the final table after doubling through Antonino Karman with his ace-jack holding against king-seven.

Sebastian Lenz then ousted Raul Sav in sixth place after his cowboys held against ace-queen. Stribrny then resumed his roll at the table terminator by eliminated both Ralf Stam and Karman to hold more than half the chips in play with three players remaining.

The chip lead went back and forth between Stribrny and Lenz during three handed action but eventually Lenz found himself as the short stack. Shortly after, Kashi sent Lenz packing with his ace-jack dominating his opponent’s jack-ten.

Stribrny began heads-up play with a marginal chip lead against Kashi. However, all momentum was with Kashi who not only took the chip lead but had a nearly 5:1 chip advantage when the final hand took place.

Stribny jammed for 14 big blinds with eights and was called by Kashi with ten-nine suited. Kashi won the flip to win the tournament when his hand improved to a flush.

Congrats to Arian Kashi for an epic win and a massive €100,000 prize for just a €330 buy-in.

Who is “True Geordie”?

For those unfamiliar with Brian ‘True Geordie’ Davis and what his content is about, he started out creating videos about his home football team, Newcastle United, before expanding with a podcast – The True Geordie Podcast, True News, where he discusses real news stories from around the world with well known guest stars, The Kick Off, a weekly football talk show which he live streams.

In the world of poker content, he created The Showdown, a talk show combined with a home game with his long time friends, child actor turned football Youtuber Rory Jennings and Manchester United fanatic and Youtuber Adam McKola. Coverage will start at 19:00 CEST/18:00 BST on Monday, August 15th.

Ten months ago, PokerStars replaced its old VIP system with a new rewards program that earns players significantly more bonuses than the old program. In fact, the new program was advertised with up to 65% rakeback via PokerStars Rewards. In this article, we will take a closer look at the PokerStars Rewards Program and show you how to earn cashback.

How to Earn PokerStars Reward Points

In order to receive rewards through the PokerStars Rewards program, you have to earn so-called Reward Points. These are points that are proportional to the rake paid. This is how these Reward Points are distributed:

  • Tournaments: Players receive 100 Reward Points for every $1 in tournament fees.
  • Cash & Zoom: Players receive 100 Reward Points for every $1 in rake in all cash games.

You can also earn Reward Points through casino and sports betting, although different keys apply here depending on the game. The bottom line, however, is that you always earn roughly 100 Reward Points for every dollar PokerStars collects via fees or house edge.

PokerStars Reward Level

There are six different reward levels at PokerStars. For each of these, you earn so-called chests, which contain fixed cash rewards.

These are the six levels:

LevelPoints per ChestChests to level upChest valueCashback
Blue3335$0.5015%
Bronze9355$1.5016%
Silver2,8507$517.50%
Gold10,8007$2018.50%
Diamond37,50010$7520%
Black100,000$25025%

Each player starts at the “Blue” level. As soon as you have earned 333 reward points, you get your first chest, which contains 50 cents cash. As soon as you have collected 5 of these chests, you will be promoted to the next level.

You have 28 days to level up. If 28 days pass and you haven’t won a single chest, you will be moved down a level.

For example, to level up from Bronze to Silver, you need to win 5 Chests. For each chest, you need 935 Rewards Points. That means you need to earn 4,675 Rewards Points within 28 days to advance to the next level. This is equivalent to about $47 rake. To reach the highest level (“Black”), you need to earn 375,000 Rewards Points within 28 days. This corresponds to $3,750 rake within four weeks.

Additionally up to 40% Cashback via Monthly Challenges

Every player who is at least in the “Silver” level has additionally the possibility to earn up to 40% cashback via so-called Monthly Challenges.

For these challenges, there is an additional points variant, the so-called Redemption Points. You earn 5 Redemption Points per dollar of rake paid. The challenges are tailored to the player and there is a new one every month. These challenges require you to earn a certain number of Redemption Points and give a reward in cash once the challenge is completed.

This is what these challenges can look like:

  • 125 Redemption Points for $10 cash
  • 750 Redemption Points for $15 Cash
  • 2,500 Redemption Points for $200 Cash
  • 15,000 Redemption Points for $300 Cash

Each challenge is worth at least 10% and up to 40% cashback. As a player, you can never know exactly what challenge PokerStars has in store for you next month. The provider itself states that the rewards for the monthly challenges depend on your playing history. Long-time winners are likely to receive a monthly poker challenge of 10% instead of the maximum monthly poker challenge of 40%.

Long-term successful poker players should expect 10% cashback via the challenge program rather than more.

Is the PokerStars Rewards program worth it?

The Stars Rewards program is leaps and bounds better than the program the provider had in previous years, which gave many players cashback only in the single-digit percentage range.

Active players now receive a minimum of 17.5% cashback through the core PokerStars Rewards program starting at the Silver level. In addition, they can also earn at least 10% further cashback each month via the Challenges. This equates to a total rate of at least 27.5%.

There are providers that pay more cashback, but PokerStars is in the upper midfield with their Rewards Program and offers a reliable VIP system that also guarantees a good cashback rate for players who are long-term winners. Overall the PokerStars Rewards Program is good and worth it, mainly because the core rakeback system does not discriminate between net depositing and net withdrawing players.

$1 for $1,000,000 Tournament

The $1 for $1,000,000 tournament is by far the most notable tournament of the Summer Festival on WPT Global. A $1 million guarantee is usually only offered in tournaments with at least triple-digit buy-ins. But WPT Global is offering this insane guarantee for a buy-in of just $1. The provider is expecting an overlay of over $900,000. That means this tournament is, in effect, an enormous freeroll.

The $1 for $1 Million tournament gives everyone, regardless of their bankroll, a chance to play the biggest online poker event on WPT Global for one dollar. There are starting flights running for the next week, with scheduled times to suit most time zones. Day 2 and the final will then be played on August 21 and 22.

Main Event and Bounties Championship Start This Week

Four more tournaments of the WPT Global Summer Festival will start this week and they have a lot to offer.

Summer Progressive Bounties Championship

The Summer Progressive Bounties Championship runs from August 8-14 and guarantees a prize pool of $300,000 for a $220 buy-in. There are multiple flights each day and the tournament uses the best stack forward principle. This allows players to participate in multiple starting flights, even if they have already made it to the second day in one of the flights. If you make it to the second day in several starting flights, you will continue playing with the best stack. 20 percent of all players in each flight make it to the final, which takes place this Sunday.

A mini-edition of this tournament will run in parallel with a buy-in of $11 and a $20,000 prize guarantee.

Main Event with $1,000,000 gtd.

On August 14, the Main Event of the Summer Festival will start. This has a buy-in of $330 and guarantees $1,000,000. There are numerous starting flights until August 20 and again the best stack forward principle takes effect. Day 2 of the tournament will be played on August 21 and the final is scheduled for August 22.

Running in parallel is the Mini Main Event with a buy-in of $33 and a guarantee of $100,000.

Start times for all tournaments can be found below and on the WPT Global homepage.

Extended Bonus during the Summer Festival

As you make your initial deposit at WPT Global by August 12, there is an additional deposit bonus at WPT Global. There are several tickets for the Summer Festival tournaments to be had for free.

Which tickets you get depends on the amount of your first deposit:

  • $10 to $49.99: A free ticket to the $1 For $1 Million tournament
  • $50 to $149.99: An $11 ticket to the Mini Summer Progressive Bounties Championship
  • $150 to $999.99: A $33 ticket to the $100,000 gtd. Mini Main Event.

WPT Global Summer Festival Schedule

These are all the dates of the upcoming tournaments of the WPT Global Summer Festival:

WPT Global Summer Festival Schedule Week 3
WPT Global Summer Festival Schedule Week 4

The World Series of Poker recently announced the WSOP Online 2022. This will be – as in previous years – a comprehensive online event with tournaments on WSOP.com for American players and on the exclusive partner site GGPoker for all international players. This year, the online WSOP will be held for the third time. After the World Series of Poker was moved to the online spheres in previous years due to the pandemic and set numerous records there, the successful online festival will continue this year with enormous guarantees.

The 53rd edition of the WSOP in Las Vegas ended this summer with record-breaking success. Nearly $350 million in prize money was played out and the Main Event was one of the biggest ever. The WSOP Online 2022 will now also feature numerous official tournaments. On GGPoker the tournaments run from August 9 to September 27 and on WSOP.com from September 10 to October 18. There are millions of dollars in prize money to be won, as well as the coveted WSOP bracelets. Every winner of a bracelet at the 2022 Online WSOP automatically wins a seat at the Tournament of Champions at next year’s WSOP in Las Vegas.

GGPoker Main Event with 20 Million Guaranteed

GGPoker Logo

For the third time, the international WSOP will be held on GGPoker. The Main Event has a $5,000 buy-in and guarantees – as in previous years – $20 million in prize money. This event is in the Guinness Book of Records for the highest prize pool in an online poker tournament. The tournament set this record in 2020 when 5,802 entries played for a prize pool of $27,559,500 and winner Stoyan Madanzhiev from Bulgaria took home $3.9 million in prize money.

The WSOP Main Event on GGPoker comes with 9 starting days. The first is on August 28 and the last is on September 26. Unlike the Main Event in Las Vegas, re-entries are allowed in the online edition of the Main Event. Players can enter multiple Day 1 starting flights and their biggest stack will be carried forward to Day 2.

These are all the starting days of the Main Event:

As far as getting the most out of sports and pastimes is concerned, online poker is the ultimate year-round gift that keeps on giving. There are prolonged end-of-season breaks and frustrating withdrawal symptoms for poker fans. When Carole King penned the classic Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall over half a century ago, she was ahead of her years in describing the world of online poker, because whatever the season, as a poker player you’ve got a friend (see what we did there?) in the likes of partypoker, who never fail to deliver by serving up a veritable feast of tournaments to savour.

Their latest offering is the Grand Prix KO Summer Series – and it’s simply too good to miss, whether you’re a tournament veteran or looking to broaden your poker horizons. Running from August 11 to August 29, this sizzling summer series is guaranteed to provide a white-hot atmosphere to rival what has thus far been record-breaking weather for many.

And it’s not just edge-of-the-seat action that’s a sure thing from partypoker – the nosebleed level of the money up for grabs is a given, too, with guaranteed prize pools on offer as high as a very tasty $500,000.

Furthermore, partypoker’s everyman ethos shines through in the shape of bankroll-friendly buy-ins that range from $5.50 to $320, as well as ludicrously cheap satellites (see below). Each of the featured events has several Day 1 slots that enable the top 15% to battle through to Day 2 which, in turn, is enough to earn a prize for your efforts.

The accessibility of the partypoker Grand Prix KO Summer Series is highlighted by the curtain-raiser, a $3.30 Mini Opener to accompany the $33 Opener. The prize pools in these tantalising festival tasters are guaranteed at $15,000 and $75,000 respectively.

$500,000 Gtd Main Event

A nice touch of this Grand Prix KO Summer Edition is that it boasts two Main Events so that everyone has a chance of glory. Entrants in Event #05, the $109 buy-in $500,000 GTD Main Event, for example, will be looking to emulate Augusto Hagen of Argentina, who won a total of $51,356 when taking down the Winter edition. Running in tandem with this tournament, the $11 Mini Main Event (which, like the $109 buy-in version, has a single re-entry, 12-level late registration format) is hardly aptly named if the guaranteed prize pool is anything to go by – the great value $11 buy-in gives you a shot at a $100,000 prize pool!

And there’s more…

If your poker appetite isn’t already suitably whetted, there’s plenty more juicy action (and prize money) to stick your proverbial teeth into. This includes a $215 buy-in $200,000 Gtd 6-Max Championship and a $320 buy-in $250,000 Gtd 7-Max High Roller. The Super 50 and Super 5 events, meanwhile, with respective buy-ins of $55 and $5, are expected to once again prove very popular, not least because value-seekers can aim for a share of the $150,000 and $30,000 guaranteed payouts.

Poker for all: Satellites from $0.01

Pennies could literally be turned into life-changing sums in this Grand Prix KO Summer Edition, thanks to partypoker laying on countless satellites to big money events – whatever the size of your bankroll, your quest for poker fame and fortune could begin via the famous $0.01 buy-in centrolls! Many successful poker careers began via the cheap-as-chips satellite route, so there’s no excuse not to take advantage of such opportunities this time around.

So, there you have it… Some things are simply unmissable, and any poker fan from the would-be GOAT on the sofa decked out in baseball cap and shades to the veteran tournament grinder might well want to keep their diary free and dive into the much-anticipated action promised by partypoker’s Grand Prix KO Summer Series.

Have fun, and good luck at the tables!

This Monday the Main Event of The Festival Online finished on 888poker with the Argentinian player Pbustos14 winning the Final Table in spectacular fashion. The victory that awarded him more than 26,000 Dollars wasn’t the only big story of the first Festival Online edition, but certainly the most memorable one.

Pbustos14 Takes the Main Event Against and With Aces

Final Table of The Festival Online
Final Table of The Festival Online

The story of Pbustos14 winning the Main Event Final Table is nothing but stunning. After the first day of the Main Event, he barely slipped into the final nine players. When they returned on Monday evening he was last in chips with less than 9 big blinds while the average stack was almost 23 big blinds. He only had a bit more than 4% of all the chips.

Then he went all-in with A-9 suited against Aces. At this moment he had an 88% chance to be eliminated in 9th place. But he wasn’t eliminated. Instead, he made a Flush, cracked the aces and lived to see more cards.

Less than an hour later he almost repeated the same feat. This time he was all-in with A-8 offsuit against Aces and while he had his opponent covered, his stack would have been severely crippled had he lost the all-in. But again, he didn’t lose. This time the board ran out K-J-3-Q-T, giving both players the same straight, chopping the pot.

The icing on the cake was the final all-in. PBustos14 was already a massive chip leader in the heads-up against his opponent vpedote when won the final hand with Aces, the very hand he just cracked twice in less than 90 minutes.

More Than 8,000 Festival Online Players Over Three Weeks

Overall The Festival Online Powered by 888poker was a great success. The tournament series attracted over 8,000 players and more than $800,000 in prize money was distributed over 24 tournaments. The tables were buzzing with action and several different variants and games were played during the series. With multiple knockout events, a snap event, 8-max and Omaha tournaments the Festival Series provided plenty of opportunities to try different games.

Looking Ahead

The festival bratislava

The next Festival Series will be a live event when The Festival heads to Bratislava in October. From October 10 – 16 the Festival Bratislava guarantees €500,000 in the €550 Main Event and offers a comprehensive side event program with many off-the-beaten-path poker games and casino tournaments as well.

The next Online Series will most likely happen before the end of the year and the details will be announced here in due time.

The Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party (MPP) announced this week that the High Roller Triton Poker Series Cyprus will host a mega high roller event called the Coin Rivet Invitational. This event runs from September 10-12 at the Merit Royal Diamond in North Cyprus and has a buy-in of a whopping $200,000. A singular re-entry is allowed in this tournament.

Similar to the Triton Million held in London in 2019, this event will pair professional players with recreational players. On the first day, the professional and recreational players will play separately and only on the second day will the fields be combined. Which player is a pro and which is a recreational player will be decided by a special committee that includes Paul Phua, Rob Yong and Jason Koon. The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 32 recreational players and 32 professionals.

Several players have already confirmed their participation. The tournament recommends that players register in pairs. Each professional should bring a recreational player. Among others, WSOP Main Event winner Espen Jorstad, Rob Yong, Paul Phua, Phil Ivey, Bobby Baldwin, Ben Lamb and Steve O’Dwyer have already confirmed their participation.

Neil Barrett, Business Development Director of Luxon Pay said: “The pairings of the recreational players with the professionals is generating interest in the community and the early confirmations for the event look encouraging – people are interested in who pairs up and which pairing might be considered the favorites to win.”

Luxon Pay MPP Kicks Off on August 19

The Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party kicks off on August 19 with the $1,100 MPP Open, where $1,000,000 is guaranteed. This will be followed by numerous tournaments sponsored by various poker portals. Among others, The Festival Series will also co-host two tournaments. On September 3, thefestival.com PLO 4/5/6 event will be held with a buy-in of $1,100. Three Omaha variants will be played here: Regular PLO, 5-card PLO and 6-card PLO. The following day, September 4, thefestival.com H.O.R.S.E. tournament will take place with a buy-in of $550.

The Main Event of the Mediterranean Poker Party has a buy-in of $5,300 and guarantees a whopping $5,000,000, beginning August 29 and running through September 3.

Buy-in via Luxon Pay

The easiest way to buy into the MPP’s tournaments is via Luxon Pay. The payment processor allows players to buy into tournaments and cash games both online and live at many casinos around the world. Luxon Pay is a payment processor by and for poker players that enables secure and efficient deposits and withdrawals in online casinos and many live casinos worldwide.
