Despite barely recovering from Christmas and the New Year, and Valentine’s Day is upon us. The clever marketeers in the competitive industry that is real money online poker never miss an opportunity these days to capitalise on popular dates and events, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that you can find special online poker tournaments with a Valentine’s Day theme.
One particularly on-the-ball online poker operator that is spreading the love among the global online poker community is Juicy Stakes Poker where, in celebration of the would-be romantic event, they’re laying it on rather thick. Fortunately, this enthusiasm extends to their increasing guaranteed prize pools, too!
A Full House of Queens
Juicy Stakes Poker’s A Full House of Queens promotion comes with more than a catchy name. On 13 February the increasingly popular poker room will be upping the payouts across a range of specially designed tournaments. Of course, you don’t need to be celebrating your 20th wedding anniversary or the planet’s biggest romantic to get involved – it’s a passion for poker that counts.
On the other hand, given that there’s a host of tournaments to enjoy before what for many is a big day, with extra prize money up for grabs A Full House of Queens is a great opportunity to add to your bankroll for the special occasion.
After logging on to Juicy Stakes Poker, head for the Tournament Lobby and look out for LOVE POKER in the listing. As usual, there’s no shortage of bankroll-friendly tournaments aimed at poker hobbyists, but there’s something for everyone, including, for example, a $6.60 buy-in $1,000 GTD Superstack.
As well as a range of buy-ins, the LOVE POKER collection of tournaments also features a selection of games and formats. There’s both Texas Hold’em and Omaha to choose from, and standard, rebuy and Bounty tournaments scheduled.
Meanwhile, find out about a great feature at Juicy Stakes Poker, namely their useful Bubble Protection facility… Have fun at the tables, and make the most of your passion for poker this Valentine’s!
Thanks mainly to the internet, poker has come such a long way in the last couple of decades. In total contrast to the traditional home game that would see friends from around town huddled round a table in the kitchen, real money online poker today affords us the ability to play with countless opponents from around the globe. The poker world is simultaneously smaller and without geographical limitations, depending on how we view it…
The latest offering from Juicy Stakes Poker takes Australia as its theme, but you don’t need to have petted a kangaroo, eat Vegemite for breakfast, lunch and dinner or even to live there or ever have visited to take part!
Announcing the Aussie Tournament Series… Perhaps Australia’s multi-cultural society is one of the reasons that both poker and casinos – and various sports – are so popular there. With Juicy Stakes Poker’s collection of online poker tournaments you can get into the spirit every day between Monday and Sunday. Join in the fun with fellow poker fans from Down Under, throw another prawn on the virtual barbie and battle away for your share of the prize money.
There’s so much happening at Juicy Stakes Poker that it’s difficult to keep up. What’s particularly refreshing is that, being a relatively new online poker operator, Juicy Stakes has also set out its stall with recreational players in mind, so new and inexperienced players are well catered for with an abundance of bankroll-friendly games available.
If cash games are your thing you can hit the Texas Hold’em and Omaha tables, while partnerships with popular live events such as The Festival Series give players a chance to qualify for prestigious tournaments around the globe.
Good luck at the tables, and have fun!
888poker was among the first online poker operators to roll out the hot new Mystery Bounty format. The format that randomizes the bounty totals including some truly massive bounties compared to buy-in has quickly become the fastest-growing form of poker both live and online.
There is little surprise what is driving the recent success of the hottest new format in poker. The Mystery Bounty format burst onto the scene in 2022 and quickly took the poker world by storm, in no small part because of the chance to win massive bounties compared to the buy-in.
With poker players constantly on the hunt for value and big prizes, the new format caught on like wildfire. It debuted in the live poker space and was met with huge excitement from the player base, making it a certainty the format would move into the online space as well.
It was 888poker who stepped up to the plate in a big way. Among the first four operators to debut the format online, the operator not only debuted the format but also spread it across its schedule. While the format initially debuted as a $109 game, by early 2023 there are multiple Mystery games throughout the day with prices to fit nearly all players.
While other operators, like rival GGPoker, have dabbled in the Mystery format, 888poker went all-in with the new format, eventually spreading the game across its schedule to include games in basically every bankroll category.
What’s the Mystery?
It’s no mystery what has made the format so popular. A variation on the more common knockout (KO) game, the Mystery Bounty does something a little different with the bounty pool. In a regular KO game, every player has a certain price on their head from the very first hand, and whenever a player busts, the winner gets the bounty amount directly in their pocket.
That was the first iteration of bounty games, but a new variant quickly emerged, called progressive knockout games (PKO). In a PKO, the bounties still start from the first hand, but players only get a portion of a busted player’s bounty, with the remaining money added to their own price.
The latest craze is yet another variation on the KO game. In this case, there is some significant divergence from the original format, not least because bounties never kick in on the first hand in the Mystery Bounty format.
While a portion of the buy-in is still reserved for bounties, players can’t win those bounties until later in the game. The format varies with implementation, but common forms include bounties kicking in when late registration ends, or when players get into the money. In the case of 888poker Mystery Bounty games, players play 16 levels with no bounties in play and the envelopes come out at the start of Level 17.
Once bounties are in play, there are some truly huge prizes to be won in this format, and that is what fuels the excitement. The bounty pool in the Mystery games is divided up into a number of big bounties” that can be as big as 150 times the buy-in or more. Once the big bounties are calculated – the specific structure of the big bounties varies by event but typically, 50% of the bounty pool is reserved for big bounties. The rest of the bounty pool gets divided into “average bounties” which are generally at least the size of the buy-in.
888poker Loves the Mystery
Players on 888poker responded very positively to the first trial games of the format. In the earliest trial in Sep 2022, the $109 game saw nearly 1,500 entries, almost doubling its $100k guarantee, and was generally met with excitement from all, including the operator’s team of ambassadors.
The huge response to that opening trial game virtually guaranteed the format would roll out in a wider way on 888poker, and that’s exactly what happened. By the end of 2022, there were Mystery Bounty games in all the bankroll categories on the site with the current daily schedule ranging from $1 to $109.
As an example of the kind of bounties that can be won, the $1 game ($1,500 guaranteed) features a big bounty of $150 with 69 big bounties starting at $2.20. The daily $109 game ($12k guaranteed), on the other hand, has $1,200 for the biggest bounty prize and 12 total big bounties starting at $180.
See below for a look at the daily and weekly Mystery Bounty games on 888poker. There’s no mystery what it is that fuels the excitement, and 888poker is the place to take your shot at drawing an envelop worth as much as $10k.

‘A couple of bucks can change your life!’ … often when we hear such a claim, it doesn’t really hold water, when it comes to real money online poker it tends to be a reliable statement of fact, such is the nature of the industry in that it generates an environment awash with money and which offers everyone opportunities to win.
This article focuses on a too-good-to-miss event at Americas Cardroom that does indeed present players – regardless of the size of their bankroll – a chance to turn a couple of bucks into a life-changing sum of money, namely The Dream Tournament which, conveniently for us, is quite aptly named.
With a guaranteed prize pool that promises $100,000 in payouts, you might expect a hefty buy-in, but the point here is to cater to the rank-and-file poker enthusiast, which is why ACR decided to limit the buy-in to a mere $2.50! Not surprisingly, this newsworthy online poker tournament – which sees daily Day 1 Flights running until 26 February, with Day 2 on the 26th and the Final Table held on Monday, 27 February – is the biggest micro-stakes event in Americas Cardroom history.
Remarkably, given the enormous $100K up for grabs, the qualifying set-up means that you can even win your ticket to do battle in The Dream for a miniscule 11 cents.
Two Added Events!
If you’re feeling greedy as the year’s shortest month draws to a close, or you fancy experiencing the thrills and spills of online Bounty Tournaments (if you’ve never played one, where have you been?), then you can take advantage of ACR’s adding two extra events that will run alongside Day 2 on 26 February. These PKOs are a $16.50 buy-in event with a $75,000 GTD prize pool, and a $15,000 GTD for which the buy-in is just $2.50.
With over 1,170 players set to finish in the money, and two great PKO events to dive into, playing in The Dream Tournament at Americas Cardroom is a no-brainer…
Poker really is the ultimate equality game. Regardless of who we are, the size of our bankroll, whether we’re 25 or 75, male or female or where we live – none of this has any impact whatsoever on what cards will next appear. It all comes down to how we play and the occasional whim of the poker gods…
Thanks to the emergence a couple of decades ago of real money online poker and the developments and successful progress since, the constant expansion of poker has been truly global. Moreover, the symbiotic relationship between online poker and its ‘live’ bedfellow means countless players are able to enjoy major festivals somewhere or other throughout the year.
The ever-present PokerStars has for a long time been an established big name, and it’s nice for us at Pokerlistings to report on their announcement that, after an absence of seven years, the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) will return in 2023!
Poker players from Scandinavia, across Europe and even North America could be forgiven for believing the game might not be so popular in Latin America, but they would be quite wrong. In fact, the LAPT first started as long ago as 2008 in Rio de Janeiro, running for nine seasons until 2016, by which time the continent had hosted prestigious tour events in Brazil, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Panama and the Bahamas. Impressive indeed, and indicative of poker’s popularity.
It’s fitting, then, that the long-awaited return of the LAPT to the region should kick off back in Rio. And with the festival taking place in the exotic surroundings of the luxurious beachfront Windsor Marapendi Hotel between 2-6 March, 2023, it’s sure to be a big hit.
If big money poker by the sea in the holiday paradise that is Rio de Janeiro sounds appealing (which, of course, it does), then full packages and Seat Only satellites for the $1,500 buy-in Main Event are already running on PokerStars in the run-up to the hotly-anticipated festival. Numerous tasty events have been lined up, including a 6-Handed Mystery Knockout and a High Roller Progressive Knockout… Remember that you don’t have to be an online poker tournament veteran to qualify for these elite events and, once there, have a great chance for glory.
The organising team at PokerStars aren’t looking for a one-off success – after Rio there’ll be another stop in April in the fantastic location of Montevideo, Uruguay, and this will be followed by two LAPT/Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP) events scheduled for São Paulo in July and November. And more stops are to be announced soon.
This is what Cedric Billot, Head of Global Live Event Operations at PokerStars had to say about the announcement: “We are delighted to announce the return of this iconic series and once again hold the LAPT for poker players in Latin America… We’re working hard to ensure that this is a spectacular series and can’t wait to head to Rio to get the show on the road.”
A teenage Dominik Nitsche winning at the LAPT in 2009
It’s worth remembering that the LAPT proved significant for a number of South America’s top poker players, with Dominik Nitsche a good example, having won his first live tournament in Argentina back in 2009 for a cool $381,000 at the age of just 18 ears old.
Devanir Campos, Executive Director for LAPT: “The LAPT has a special place in the hearts of Latin American poker players and poker enthusiasts, so we’re absolutely thrilled that the tour is back. The tour will enable us to bring together former LAPT champions and a new generation of poker players that never got to experience this amazing event…’

The schedule for this year’s edition of the biggest poker tournament series on the planet was released last week, and between the online and live games announced there will be at least 123 chances for players to put a bracelet on their wrist.
Once again, bracelet season is approaching as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) has recently released the schedule for the big summer series and this year there will be almost 100 bracelets up for grabs on the live felt in Vegas. In addition to the live bracelets there will be almost 30 bracelets handed out in various US online bracelet series also announced.
Once again, poker players are booking their flights and rooms, and making plans to descend on Vegas for the biggest poker party on earth with the release of this year’s WSOP schedule. The live festival will feature 95 events at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas and the announcement also laid out 28 online bracelet games in various US markets.
To date, there has been no word about international online bracelets – all of the online bracelets announced in this recent release are in the NJ/NV, PA, or MI jurisdictions in the US, and will not include international players. It’s worth noting that players on the ground in Vegas for the festival will be able to compete in WSOP NV bracelet events while they are physically in Nevada, but there are also usually bracelet series announced for international markets through online partner GGPoker.
When the dust settles and all the bracelet series from markets like WSOP Ontario and the larger international crowd are accounted for, it is likely the 2023 bracelet total will approach 200. That continues a trend in recent years as the number of bracelets awarded has ballooned in the era of online poker.
A Usual Start
As has become traditional, the series kicks off on May 30 with the Casino Employees Event. The $500 game has kicked off the series for a number of years, giving industry members an early shot at a bracelet before they head off to respective reporting, directing, and dealing duties for the rest of the Series.
While that is a typical start to the series, there is also something new in the early going. The 3rd scheduled event is a $1,000 Mystery Bounty game, the hottest new format in poker. The WSOP debuted the Mystery format in last year’s Series, but for this year, the bounty barrel will be headlining the early days.
Among the other early feature games are Event #2: High Roller for $25k, the Tournament of Champions freeroll (which typically runs at the end of the series and is open to all ring and bracelet winners of the previous season), and the $1,500 Dealer’s Choice.
Among the biggest games on the schedule every year are the Championship Games. Most of the Championships are $10k buy-ins representing the elite games in their various disciplines. There are a couple of Championships that are a bit bigger, however – The Heads Up Championship costs $25k to get into while the elite Poker Players Championship is a $50k event that is widely seen as overall poker Championship of the world.
There are also a couple of cheaper shots at a Championship bracelet. For women and seniors, the Championship cost will be just $1,000 while the Deepstack Championship is just $600. Interestingly, the Ladies event on Jun 29 actually has an official buy-in of $10k but women are discounted to $1,000 on entry to “discourage” men from entering the event. Yet the Seniors event, which also has restricted entry, requires no such modification to keep the kids away from the adult’s table.

It’s the biggest poker party of the year and the schedule is now in. Here is the full schedule of this year’s WSOP to help you plan out your shot at a coveted WSOP Gold Bracelet this summer.
In the cutthroat world of real money online poker it’s important that operators cover all bases when coming up with anything new, and this certainly includes online poker tournaments and how they are presented. Of course, such elements as format, structure, buy-in levels and prize pools, for example, are key to whether or not these tournaments prove sufficiently popular, especially if it’s a collection of regular fixtures.
Moreover, even if something does indeed bring in players, it’s an imperative to make whatever adjustments and tweaks are necessary to maintain that momentum. On this front, partypoker continues to deliver, with their regular Daily Legends tournaments being a typical example.
Already an established success, the Daily Legends selection of player-friendly tournaments has undergone a massive upgrade, with additional fixtures, more variety and the ultimately significant matter of more than $3 million in total guarantees every single week!
In fact, whatever your bankroll, you’ll have plenty of choice in your quest to become a poker Legend – note that, once again, Daily Legends is another catchy name from partypoker (these details are more important than we might think). And the beauty of Daily Legends is that, not only has the selection of micro stakes games been expanded, but it doesn’t mean that low buy-ins means low rewards, as the prize pools are rather tasty.
Furthermore, there’s a range of buy-in levels, including those in the higher echelons, and with prize money to match (see below). Meanwhile, as far as tournament formats are concerned, there are now extra Turbo and Hyper-Turbo events, too. The schedule is packed, day after day. Here’s a small sample of what to expect from Daily Legends during a couple of hours of 11 February (all times CEST), for instance:
Time (CEST)
Name
Buy-In
GTD
15:05
7-Max PKO
$30 + $3
$5,000 GTD
16:30
8-Max Deepstack
$10 + $1
$5,000 GTD
17:05
6-Max PKO
$20 + $2
$7,500 GTD
And there’s more. To make the Daily Legends tournaments even more accessible partypoker are laying on satellites, and to jazz up proceedings there are special Leaderboards and promotions – keep tuning into PokerListings for updates…
Finally, for those of you looking to expand your poker horizons, check out the latest juicy online poker bonuses and offers available at our dedicated info section. Have fun at the tables, and good luck!
‘The best value tournament of all time’ might be a bold statement even when it comes to the marketing jungle that is real money online poker but, to be fair to the operator making such a claim, it’s certainly not an unjustified one!
There’s arguably only a handful of online poker operators that can host a tournament worthy of these ambitious accolades, and the forward-thinking and innovative GGPoker is one of them.
The event in question is the massive 2023 GGMasters Overlay Edition which, celebrating its third anniversary, will guarantee a prize pool of a cool $10 million … The ‘Overlay’ element is an interesting one. An overlay occurs when a planned prize pool exceeds the amount generated by total buy-ins, in which case a tournament operator must make up the difference, effectively ‘overlaying’ their own money into the prize pool. This, of course, gives the players more value as they have the extra ‘house’ money to play for, too.
The novelty Overlay aspect in this event, then, is actually a very worthy one – and it also comes with a personal twist! Should the prize pool exceed $9 million or reach the advertised $10 million guarantee, GGPoker Global Ambassador Daniel Negreanu will personally provide the aforementioned guaranteed overlay of $1 million! Here’s what the Poker Hall of Fame legend had to say: “This year blows 2022 out of the water. I’m confident that the overlay will be over $1,000,000. If I’m wrong, I will use my own money to increase the final overlay to $1,000,000”.
GGMasters Overlay Edition: How It Works
This $10M Freezeout is a 2-day event that features 9 Day 1 Flights from which players will qualify for Day 2, when play continues to a conclusion. Note that the final payouts will be determined once the Day 2 starting field is finalised.
As we can expect from GGPoker, however enormous this event, the aim is to make it accessible to all and, to this end, there will be a comprehensive qualifying set-up including a range of Satellites, Step Satellites and Freerolls – and all with a bankroll-friendly choice of buy-ins.
N.B. The names of the Day 1 events are indicative of peak time zones and not restricted to those players from the named regions, so it’s possible to have as many as 9 Day 1 entries (each Day 1 event is a Freezeout).
So, there you have it. You don’t need to be an online poker tournament specialist, nor need a big bankroll, to get involved!
Everybody who takes up real money online poker will, over time, try out all sorts of games and formats. A typical path might be to start off with, for example, Texas Hold’em cash games, maybe trying out the more volatile Omaha along the way, dip the proverbial toe into Sit & Go games and, inevitably, venture into the thrills and spills of online poker tournaments in one guise or another.
Given that there are a number of tournament types to choose from nowadays, it’s not always easy for online poker operators to find a balance and please everyone, especially when some formats can be more/less popular than others. PokerStars are doing their bit with the latest 50/50 Series offering, which is still going and has a lot to tempt us with in the form of very tasty prize pools and a nice selection of formats.
Interestingly, while all are $50 buy-in tournaments, the prize pools aren’t the same, ranging from $15,000 to $500,000 (see below). There’s a mix of formats, so whatever your experience, whether it’s with the good old-fashioned standard set-up or the fashionable (and great fun!) Progressive Knockout (PKO) tourney, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
The Marathon, for example, takes place on 9 February, has a prize pool of $35,000 and a Slow, 12-minute Blind structure befitting of the event’s name. If you want to see the action build up at a less leisurely pace there are Semi-Turbo (7-minute Blinds) and Turbo structures to dive into, while adrenaline-seekers can ride a Hyper poker rollercoaster that starts with already quick 5-minute Blind levels and soon steps up a gear to 3-minute Blinds for the rest of the frenzy…
The 50/50 Series itself culminates in a mouth-watering feast on 12 February, with three tournaments each featuring a $100,000 guarantee, one with $125,000 on offer and a PKO format Main Event that promises at least $500,000 in payouts!
I’d hope that, after reading about the 50/50 Series, there’s a much better than 50/50 chance that any poker fan worth their proverbial salt would be jumping right in to the tournaments… Have fun at the tables, and good luck!

Here at PokerListings we’re well aware that, while the world of real money online poker has many full-time players and seasoned grinders, all of these started out as new players, of course. This is a crucial truism of the industry, and one that must be respected if the poker eco-system is going to continue to survive and thrive.
To this end, it’s important that online poker providers do their utmost in both attracting new players and, subsequently, helping them continue to enjoy the game and, hopefully improve. Juicy Stakes Poker – a recent addition to our impressive stable of online poker room partners – has a commendable ethos while at the same time achieving an excellent balance that means all player types are well catered for.
Big hitters with big ambitions, for instance, can win their way to a $4,200 WSOPC Caribbean Package at Juicy Stakes Poker (note also that you can qualify for peanuts…), where you can also find cheap-as-chips qualifiers to other major live poker events.
However, for those who don’t want to try running before they can walk and instead prefer to adopt a more measured, assured approach, it’s important to have opportunities to develop. Ideally, the most attractive option is to kill two birds with one stone and learn while also having the chance to pad the bankroll and, with this in mind, Juicy Stakes Poker has three new additions to their Sunday Tournament menu, each of which is part of the Sunday Six Max SUPERSTACK Series…
This special Sunday fixture consists of three six-handed online poker tournaments that are player-friendly, feature decent prize money and offer poker fans some welcome flexibility. Three tournaments, three prize pool guarantees, three buy-in levels and an excellent structure!
Here’s the Sunday Six Max SUPERSTACK info (all No Limit Hold’em):

So… as useful tournaments go that tick the right boxes, Juicy Stakes Poker has got it spot on with their latest additions. Furthermore, wherever you are on your poker quest, they’re well worth getting involved in!

There was a lot of talk about how siloed state operations impacted prize pools, and the new combined pool between PokerStars NJ and PokerStars MI has proven the point with the biggest weekly guarantees in the US industry.
At the beginning of 2023, PokerStars Michigan and New Jersey combined to form a single player pool serving around 20 million potential players. While there has been a lot of talk about the impact shared liquidity could have on the industry, the PokerStars state merger this year is the first chance for real, on the ground, evidence since 2017 when WSOP New Jersey joined operations in Nevada and Delaware.
The proof is in the pudding, and PokerStars MI/NJ is serving that pudding. A month after the new combined pool came online, the operator is touting $1 million in guarantees per week in the new market.
The new combined player pool creates the biggest market in the regulated US industry at the moment, surpassing the previous behemoth of Pennsylvania. PokerStars PA serves around 14.5 million potential players, but the new combined pool of Michigan and New Jersey has just shy of 20 million people between the two states, That has allowed the operator to revamp its schedule and bump up the guarantees on regular daily events as well as weekly specials. The new schedule includes buy-ins ranging from $5 to $250 so there is likely something to appeal to all bankrolls.
Just a month into the new era, the bigger player pool is already showing benefits as PokerStars US announced total weekly guarantees of $1 million in the new market. There is nearly $250k guaranteed every week in nightly games like the Nightly Stars ($50 with $12.5k Gtd) plus a huge updated weekly schedule including the Sunday Special, Super Tuesday, and Thursday Thrill with more than $100k guaranteed in those three games alone.
Severin Rasset, Managing Director for PokerStars in the US, was very excited about the new guarantees. “We are excited to announce that we will be guaranteeing $1 million per week across our tournaments for our shared Michigan and New Jersey pool. The combined liquidity of NJ & MI enables us to reinforce our weekly schedule with more tournaments available every day, a wider variety of buy-ins, bigger guarantee and giving our players the best available in the market.”
While the players on PokerStars PA are still off playing by themselves, the Keystone State hasn’t been ignored. Along with the $1 million announced in MI/NJ, there is $500k guaranteed every week across the border in PA, from a weekly schedule that is very similar to the games in NJ/MI. That brings PokerStars’ total US guarantees to $1.5 million per week across PA and the multi-state pool.
It is fairly obvious in the poker world that bigger player pools leads to bigger prizes, but the proof is on the ground in the US this month. With the biggest weekly guarantee in the US regulated industry, the PokerStars MI/NJ compact is leading the way into a new era of US online poker.
Highlights of the $1 Million Weekly Schedule on PokerStars MI/NJ
The siloed Ontario poker market is now almost a year old, and partypoker Ontario is finishing the opening year with more than $100k in regular weekly. With Spins, cash games, Sit & Go games, and big tournament series, partypoker ON has something for every player
The new market in Canada’s largest province is maturing as it nears the end of its first year of operation since Ontario locked down online gambling to only locally licensed operators in early 2022. Among the early players on the new field was the global poker powerhouse partypoker ON.
The operator is competing with a lot of the usual suspects, including PokerStars Ontario, 888poker Ontario, and a collaboration between GGPoker and WSOP that plays on WSOP.ca. partypoker joins the crowded market of some 14.5 million people with two skins, running both as the native partypoker as well the operator’s partner in the US partypoker Network, BetMGM.
partypoker ON offers the full selection of online poker formats including cash games, sit & go games, jackpot poker and tournaments. Players can opt for two cards or four in most formats, and four-card lovers can also play the split-pot game.
Across the client, there are offerings for every player and bankroll. Spins, the partypoker version of jackpot games, range from $1 to $50 with prizes up to $500k. Regular sit & go games start at $5 while players can get into tournaments from as little as $0.55 for real money games and $0.33 (or free) for satellites.
More Than $100K in Tournament Guarantees Weekly
Among the highlights on partypoker ON is a robust weekly and daily tournament schedule. Super Sunday features large on the client with $35k in guarantees on the day of rest alone. Featured Sunday games include The Sunday High Roller, The Sunday 200, and The Super Sunday 100.
Between those three games alone, there is almost $25k up for grabs, but there is a lot more Super Sunday action to choose from. The Sunday High Roller offers the biggest guarantee of the week on the client, but it isn’t actually the best value game. That honor goes to The Super Sunday 10 and The Sunday Jab, both of which offer more than $90 in guarantee for every $1 spent on buy-in. The $1.10 Sunday Jab has $100 guaranteed, while the $11 Super Sunday 10 guarantees $1,000.

We tend to view and interpret the world – past and present – in different ways depending on age. A different formative era brings about a different understanding. Perhaps the internet and the related technology it brings with it is the most striking example of this. A fortysomething, for example, is going to be a lot more tech/internet savvy than their parents. Meanwhile (because it’s all relative!), that same fortysomething might well be considerably less knowledgeable than the generation that came after them.
That it is true of real money online poker highlights how far the game has come in the couple of decades or so since the phenomenon first appeared. In those days the internet itself was nowhere near as well established as it is today in that nowadays it’s taken for granted to the point that it’s a ‘natural’ part of everyday life.
It is indeed relative. As someone who was around before online poker even existed, I continue to be impressed by the latest ‘new thing’ or development because I compare how things are with how they were in the early days. Online poker tournaments have changed quite a lot, for instance, a typically ‘modern’ feature being Bounty Tournaments and other elements of the online game that were not around originally but are the usual fare today. One such is the mobile poker app such as that offered by WPT Global which, fittingly, given this theme of modernity, is unusual in that it is a ‘new’ online poker operator (having been set up as recently as last year) while at the same time being the online poker room of the veteran World Poker Tour (WPT), one of the giants of the game. Being able to play poker on a mobile or other device we carry around with us when on the go is as normal as coffee for some, and still a remarkable novelty for others!
As for WPT Global’s mobile offering, the layout is great, it’s easy to move around within the app from tournaments to Texas Hold’em and Omaha cash games and so on, and there’s a varied selection (including 6+ Hold’em, for example) from which to choose. It’s also bankroll-friendly in terms of which stakes players find the most suitable for their poker budget.
There’s also a good variety of backgrounds and card graphics, and you can even have fun with Emojis and a host of personal avatars to jazz up the mobile poker experience.
Importantly, note that none of the above compromises the speed and smooth running of the software which, of course, is the most important aspect.
All-in-all, WPT Global’s excellent mobile poker app is a great way to enjoy your favourite games and formats while on the go…

The poker world seems awash with money which, for everyone involved in the game, from seasoned pros to ambitious hobbyists, is of course a very good thing. Combine the prospect of getting our hands on a life-changing sum of money with the prestige and status that comes with winning a major global event, and we have the ultimate dream scenario of all players: glory at the World Series of Poker…
The richest, longest-running and most prestigious poker series, the WSOP is the Big Daddy of all things poker, being the original and (arguably still) the most respected benchmark there is. We might barely have started February, but the recent announcement of the daily event schedule for WSOP 2023 is big news, not least because nowadays this extravaganza is accessible to all via the countless opportunities real money online poker brings in the form of great value qualifiers (see below).
So, here’s what every poker fan with an ounce of ambition can now put in their diary: the 54th annual WSOP will return to the Las Vegas Strip at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas from May 30 to July 18, 2023. The $10,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em World Championship – the Main Event – will run between 3-17 July. Over the years the gargantuan festival has broken numerous records, and this year promises to be the more of the same, with more tables, more variety and more bracelet events ever scheduled.
600 WSOP 2023 Main Event Seats Guaranteed From GGPoker
Ironically, if you’ve never even set foot in an actual Bricks & Mortar poker room, and your entire poker experience consists – as it is for the vast majority around the world – only of the online version, then you’re in a great position to win your way to Las Vegas. This is because our partner operator GGPoker happens to have an exclusive collaboration with the WSOP, and this year the numbers are astounding.
It doesn’t matter how (in)experienced you are as far as online poker tournaments are concerned, as poker does, after all, give everyone a chance to succeed (Incidentally, for those of you who thus far have stuck to Texas Hold’em or Omaha cash, or Sit & Go games, check out our Pokerlistings Simple Guide to Poker MTT Strategy: Level 1 to Final Table for some pointers). In a massive undertaking that will see a marathon of online satellites that will start in March and continue through the run-up to the WSOP, there will be 500 guaranteed Main Event seats on GGPoker.com offered, plus another 100 seats via the ClubGG.net subscription site. This equates to $6,000,000 worth of seats, which is more than double GGPoker’s official qualifiers from the 2022 series.
And what a year that was! The 8,663-player field in last year’s Main Event was the second-largest in WSOP history (following on from an also impressive 6,650 in 2021). After the smoke had cleared, Espen Jorstad of Norway became the 2022 WSOP Main Event winner, picking up a nice, round sum of $10,000,000 to add to his coveted bracelet.
Inspired? You absolutely should be!
One of the most important elements of real money online poker nowadays is the array of opportunities for everyday, recreational players to qualify for prestigious, megabucks live events. Comprehensive qualifying set-ups that allow players to start their quest for the big time for literally a few dollars mean countless poker fans around the globe can get their hands on juicy packages that offer the ultimate poker experience.
Thanks to the latest promotion at Americas Cardroom there are special packages up for grabs that deserve a veritable fanfare, and this is because they are worth a whopping $100,000 – and there are four to be won!
High Stakes Adventure Vietnam
Furthermore, the event in question will take place in a particularly spectacular location, namely Vietnam (1-13 March). An international high stakes poker festival is already an exciting prospect, and one that is hosted in a setting that has such beautiful scenery, inviting sandy white beaches and a rich culture is as good as it gets. As is usually the case, it’s important to stress that you don’t have to be an online poker tournament specialist to throw your hat in the ring here, as tournaments are easy to play and are what makes poker the great ‘everyman’ leveller…
Here’s what the fantastic High Stakes package includes:
$100K for tournament buy-ins, which range from $15K to $100K.
12 nights at the luxury KHOS Hoiana Hotel.
Round-trip Business Class airfare ticket.
VIP Airport Transfer.
There are numerous ways to find yourself sitting down to play in Vietnam’s nosebleed stakes event.
$2,650 Buy-in Qualifiers
12 and 19 February; start time: 1:05pm ET.
2 packages are guaranteed in each satellite.
Alternative Paths
Low buy-in qualifiers are available throughout the week of each Satellite Final.
Start the quest to the Vietnam High Roller for as little as $2.50.

The well-known saying ‘A rolling stone gathers no moss’ can be applicable to all manner of things, and the world of real money online pokeris no exception as far as online poker operators staying ahead of the curve is concerned. There’s simply no excuse for poker rooms taking their eye off the ball, and even the more established, successful companies can’t afford to be complacent for fear of being leap-frogged by their rivals.
This environment is all very good news for players themselves, of course, as the fierce competition by definition offers up more and more good deals and offers to take advantage of.
A major online poker provider that strives to hold their own in the industry is partypoker who, noticeably, succeed in maintaining a steady flow of ‘new’ games, features and – importantly – offers. Last week we brought you a bit of history about the most iconic poker event of the Baltic States, where you could meet the initiators of this wonderful event, held in the medieval capital of Estonia. You could also see which tournaments you should play during this event. But how does it feel to win such an epic Main Event at Kings of Tallinn? Winners in recent years walked away with incredible amounts between €37,000 and €127,000. We gave the microphone to the winners, so you can get a picture of what such amounts have brought about in regards of their poker careers.
It’s all getting pretty close now, the great Kings of Tallinnevent will kick off a 10-day poker unique festival from February 24, until March 5. For the second time in history, there will be a €500,000 guaranteed Main Event. On top of that a record-breaking total of 53 tournaments and packed with 24/7 cash games in all sorts of formats, there’s no time to get bored. Literally everything you will see around you is pure value. With such a huge, guaranteed prize pool, this naturally entails a very heavy first prize.
We spoke to some of the previous Main Event winners:
Johan Creutz (Sweden) – Winner Main Event 2016 – €52,200
“When I won Kings of Tallin, I was playing poker as a hobby. Winning the tournament made me decide to quit my job and start playing poker full time which I have been doing since then. Kings of Tallin will always be in my heart because of that.”
Johan Creutz
Vitalijs Zavorotnijs (Latvia) – Winner Main Event 2019 – €85,300
“Kings of Tallinn is a great and well-organized event. The Hilton Hotel is beautiful and has, as I remember, a score of 9.0 on booking websites, and it goes for affordable prices as well. I have special feelings about Kings of Tallinn because it boosted my poker career to a high level. Currently I don’t live in the Baltics, so I am unsure to attend the event this year unfortunately.”
Johan Karlsson (Sweden) – Winner Main Event 2020 – €126,900
“I only have great things to say about Kings of Tallinn. It’s an excellent event in a beautiful city led by Teresa Nousiainen and her Amazing staff-team. Large selection of tournaments, lovely atmosphere. I have had the privilege of winning the Main Event, which was a fantastic experience. I will most likely attend the next Kings of Tallinn in February.”
The upcoming weeks we will give you all possible information about the history of the Kings of Tallinn poker event, as well as exclusive interviews with previous winners, but we will also give you a look behind the scenes! So, stay tuned and make sure to follow our social media channels:

The first series of the year for 888poker had a bit more than $1.46 million guaranteed, but when the Winter blizzard settled, the series awarded nearly $1.56 million.
The first major online series of the year for 888poker is now complete and with nearly $1.54 million in total prizes awarded, it was a big success. That was over the total guarantees of about $1.46 million for a nice increase of about 5% in total money awarded.
Sweden’s Niklas “tutten7” Astedt was one of the big winners of the series after he took down the $2,100 Super High Roller game for more than $37.7k. He wasn’t the only big winner through the series however with Main Event winner “AMG_people” from Ukraine collecting nearly as much in prizes and bounties for their win.
The total money collected was just over $1.5 million as only 60% of the games in the series managed to hit their guarantees. With more than $107k in fees over the two weeks of poker games, the operator was easily able to cover to the ~$35k in overlay for the 8 games that missed guarantee.
Niklas Åstedt, Winner of 2023 XL Winter Super High Roller, By World Poker Tour, CC BY 3.0
Two countries rose to the top of the pile through the 28 games in the 2023 XL Winter Series. Brazil was hardly a surprise to see at the top of the list with five titles overall, but the co-winner from the series was Romania, also with five wins. With a population of just under 20 million people, the eastern European country was a bit more of a surprise at the top of the country standings.
Biggest Winner Didn’t Win Thanks to Mystery Format
It looks like the biggest winner of the week didn’t actually win an event. The $500k guaranteed Main Event was a mystery bounty format, and there was a whopping $50,000 in the virtual bounty barrel. Bounties were open from the start of Day 2, but more than 160 Day 2 players weren’t getting into the official prizes.
There was a lot of bounty action early on Day 2, and the big one went fairly early in the day, to German player “Sickslick”. They went on to pocket $900 for 29th place in the game later in the day, and along the way collected a couple more bounties for a final total of more than $57k, which looks to be the biggest single player earnings across the whole series.
Germans did well in the mystery bounty portion of the Main Event. Another honorable mention goes to “Lenny03041” who managed to bag $15k without even cashing the event. They finished more than 60 players off the money, but managed to draw the $15k envelope from the bounty bin before that, for 7th place in total money earned from the Main Event.
Romania and Lithuania Punch Above Their Weight
12 countries were represented among the winners of the 2023 XL Winter games and it wasn’t much of a surprise to see Brazil leading the pack with five titles. The growing South American poker powerhouse has 214 million people, and the explosion of interest has turned the region into one of the fastest growing markets in the world.
A bit more of a surprise was Romania, who tied with Brazil for the top spot with five wins as well. With just under 20 million people, the eastern European nation is barely a tenth the size of the South American powerhouse, but still managed to book as many titles.
Another national standout was Lithuania, who at about 2.8 million people is barely 1% the size of Brazil. That nation still managed to amass 4 titles and nearly $40k in total winners prizes, a prize total that was third among nations overall.
Interestingly, with only two wins, Sweden racked up the most money from wins. More than $42.5k went to Sweden in the series, largely thanks to Åstedt’s big Super High Roller win, while war-torn Ukraine added more than $40k in wins to its national bankroll from two wins over the series. Romania beat Brazil in this category with 4th place on the list and almost $28k while Brazil couldn’t quite manage $17.5k from its five wins.

More Than 16,000 Entries
In the end, the series can only be called a success. 60% of the games broke their guarantees with more than 40k extra collected over the guaranteed value. In large part, that was thanks to 16,168 entries across the whole series.
The Main Event was a standout in most of the measures of a poker series. The big game got the most entries with more than 2,050 including rebuys, and had the biggest prize pool at $500k. The entries weren’t quite enough to break the guarantee, but it was still the biggest prize pool of the two weeks.
Other standout games included XL Winter 17 which broke its $200k guarantee by 3.5% for the second-biggest prize pool of the series. XL Winter 25, a $55 game with $50k guaranteed did 14% better than that with $57,150 in total prizes, for fifth place on the total winners’ prize ranking.
The $1,050 High Roller game did the best in terms on increase over tournament guarantee. It had $35k guaranteed, but ended up with $50k in the kitty for an increase of more than 42%. XL Winter 04 and XL Winter 15, both $109 games with $20k guaranteed, got prize pools of more than $27k for better than 35% over the promised totals.
Following a year of 20th anniversary celebrations, the 2023 XL Winter Series was a great way for 888poker to kick off the new year.
The Beatles, Albert Einstein, New Year’s Eve, Hamburgers, the World Cup Final… all fixtures, people and things that are globally recognised. As far as poker is concerned, we have the Irish Open! Quite simply, it’s one of those traditional special events that we might all wish to add to our poker bucket list.
The next edition of this fantastic festival will be hosted by the Royal Dublin Society, 3-10 April, and feature a €1,000,000 Guaranteed Main Event. Fortunately, thanks to the wonderful world of real money online poker – which, increasingly, manages to provide players with so many opportunities to expand their horizons – it’s possible to win your way to this fantastic festival and battle it out for life-changing sums in the Irish capital in April.
There’s no time like the present, as they say, so dive in and start your quest to Dublin. Any online poker tournament fan, from beginner to seasoned veteran, has a chance of getting their hands on a Main Event ticket at bargain basement prices…
Not surprisingly, given the history, status, presence and associations with major poker events, PokerStars is an official sponsor of the Irish Open and, as such, is hosting a range of qualifiers that features a mix of packages and seats being awarded in the run-up to Dublin. In fact, an impressive total of 23 will be won every week!
Routes to the Irish Open via PokerStars

Monday €1150 Seat – 5 GTD
Wednesday €1150 Seat & €350 expenses – 5 GTD

Note that all tournaments start at 7pm and have a €109 buy-in, with re-entries. As usual nowadays, PokerStars are making sure that everyone gets a chance at glory, so to this end there are Feeder satellites running every day with entries starting as low as €1.10!
Meanwhile, Paddy Power is also an official sponsor, and you can take advantage of their numerous satellite options, too:
