The Twitch.tv revolution is in full swing.
Across the board gamers, artist and of course poker players are using the medium to educate or entertain the masses in their particular niche.
There are plenty of streams that don't get as much publicity as they might deserve and we're looking to change that with an ongoing spotlight on underrated Twitch streamers.
This week we’re going to take a look at Danish grinder Jonas Palsgård.
Palsgård has a considerable amount of online experience with Supernova status and a Sunday Warm-Up win for $88k. He’s not quite as well known on the live circuit but he did finish sixth in the $1,500 NLHE Mix-Max event at the 2015 WSOP for $41k.
A Jason Somerville devotee, Palsgård refined his game by watching the Jcarver stream non-stop.
His stream is a lot of fun and you’re going to be seeing a lot more of him in the near future when he ramps up his schedule.
PokerListings: How did you get started streaming on Twitch?
Jonas Palsgård: I was watching JCarver for a long time. Then I went to Vegas last Summer and I got to be on the PokerNews podcast with Jason Somerville, Remko Rinkema and Donnie Peters.
When I got back from Vegas I just wanted to try streaming, since I think being on JCarver's stream would give me a head start most new streamers don't get. So I just started doing it and been enjoying every stream ever since!
PL: What kind of streaming schedule do you set?
I am in my early 20s and want to see my friends and family. So I stream as much as I can but not on a regular schedule. That is gonna change though because I’m getting a permanent setup at the end of April. That should make me stream at least 5 days a week.
PL: Do you stream anything other than poker?
No, I don't think I have enough skills as a gamer to make an interesting stream. So I just focus on what I have dedicated my short life to doing.
PL: What makes your stream unique?
I am myself all the way and I hope and believe that my viewers can feel my personality. But the most important and unique thing about my stream is that I respond and read nearly 100% of the chat and try and make every single viewer feel a part of the stream!
PL: Most memorable moment on stream?
When I took 13th in the Sunday Million in front of 3,500 viewers and ALL the big streamers came to watch including my top three streamers (JCarver, PokerStaples and TonkaaaP)! BY FAR the most memorable moment on stream for me!
PL: Softest tournament/spot you play?
I play almost everything from freerolls to the WSOP ME — I just love the game and all its facets! I try to do my best no matter the buyin and I do enjoy playing the smaller stakes as well - just because I play the game I love!
PL: Guiltiest music pleasure?
I don't really have a song that I listen to in the shower while crying.
But, even though it's not music, I use a variety of ASMR-videoes to relax and fall asleep. It is softly spoken motivational videos that is designed to make you get goosebumps and relax your mind. Would definitely recommend it to everyone!
PL: What other poker streamers do you enjoy?
JCarverpoker, Pokerstaples, TonkaaaaP, Upswingpoker, Nanonoko - those are the ones I watch for at least 30 mins of every single time they stream! And then I follow some of the smaller ones as well!
PL: Any particularly good fellow Danes that stream?
Theo Jorgensen streams from time to time and a fellow young gun started streaming recently, his name is Oliver Hede.
PL: Is it a concern revealing too much information on stream?
No I don't believe it's a problem revealing too much info. But I do believe it adds a new dimension to the game! I can sort of manipulate my image so I kind of know what people think about my game and use it against them.
But at the same time, I am very honest on my stream and great players should be able to exploit my game a bit, since personality is a big part of how each individual plays poker, in my opinion.
PL: Do you have any thoughts on the future of Twitch.tv?
I am looking so much forward to see where Twitch Poker in particular can go! There are seriously no limits to where Twitch can take poker! I would say Twitch has the potential to create the first poker boom since Moneymaker.
The next step is to get people that don't know about poker or Twitch to watch and play as well! JCarver is obviously way ahead of the rest and he (and the other top streamers) can really make poker great again, I believe!
PL: Any shoutouts to your favorite subscribers?
Big shoutouts to Ontwoplanks and VegasClown_AA who has made my stream what it is today helping me with the overlay and other technical stuff! You guys are the real MVPs!
And of course a big shout out to every subscriber, follower and everyone who has ever watched the stream! It all helps the stream and that is what make us keep going and growing as a community!
