Ziigmund and Dwan get late Christmas presents

Ilari Sahamies
Christmas just keeps going in Finland.

With no major live tournaments scheduled over the Christmas break the high-stakes games at Full Tilt Poker have been flourishing.

In fact the popular online site added two new $500/$1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tables, perhaps to facilitate the high volume.

The aptly named Hansen Knockout and Hurricane Hansen were frequented by Gus Hansen, Patrik Antonius, David "MR B 2 U SON" Benyamine, Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond and Hac "trex313" Dang, but it was Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Tom "durrrr" Dwan who profited the most.

The unpredictable Finn was perhaps the most impressive as he finished Gus Hangout with a record-setting $1.4 million on the table.

Ziigmund raked several huge pots versus Galfond, Dwan and fellow Finn Antonius. In a pivotal hand against Dwan and Galfond, Ziigmund flopped a straight in position against Dwan's top pair, top kicker and Galfond's two pair.

All three players got their chips in the middle on the flop and after bricks on the turn and the river, the $254,394 pot was shipped directly to Sahamies.

Meanwhile on Hurricane Hansen class was in session and Dwan was the lead instructor. Dwan won big pots from Benyamine and Antonius before raking in what would be the fifth-biggest hand of the year.

In the hand Sahamies, LokoIsBack and Dwan got it all-in on a flop of Q T 6. Dwan was trying to fade his opponent's draws as he held two queens for a set of ladies.

What's better than a set of ladies, you ask? Well, how about four. The Q peeled off the deck as the turn card, and both Sahamies and LokoIsBack were instantly drawing dead. Dwan happily raked the epic pot worth $643,984.

It's interesting to note that Pot-Limit Omaha isn't considered to be Dwan's best game but he still managed win several hundred thousand dollars in last night's action against some of the world's best PLO players.

Dwan currently has a death grip on the top online Hold'em moneymaker spot with $6.2 million and, barring any catastrophe, will finish the year in first place. Phil Galfond is second with $3 million and Phil Ivey third with $2.5 million.

You can watch the complete $643,984 hand with Dwan, Sahamies and LokoIsBack in the PokerListings hand replayer below:
