WSOPC New Orleans: The Final Nine

Jean Gaspard's reign as WSOPC New Orleans champ will end Wednesday.

The New Orleans leg of the World Series of Poker Circuit will crown a new champion Wednesday.

This thanks to 2009 WSOPC New Orleans main event champion Jean "Prince" Gaspard, who barely missed making the final table again this year busting in tenth place during Tuesday's play-down to the final nine at Harrah's New Orleans.

With Gaspard out of the way, Missoula, Montana's Ben Keiley will carry the chip lead into the final table, set to play out Wednesday at 3 p.m. local time.

Also in the final nine are Edward Corrado from Naples, Florida, Chander Jain from Houston, Texas, Hollywood, Florida's William Beasley, Las Vegan Fred Berger, New Orleans' own Joel Merwick and Fernando Perez and Baton, Rouge, Louisiana's Jared Ingles.

The $5,000+$150 event saw 156 entries creating a total prize pool of $756,600.

The crowning of a champion in New Orleans will conclude the WSOP Circuit's sixth successful season that also included stops in Chicago, Southern Indiana, Lake Tahoe, Atlantic City, Tunica, Council Bluffs, San Diego, St. Louis, and Las Vegas.

More than $20 million in prize money has been handed out this season.

Next season's WSOP Circuit schedule will be released during the 2010 WSOP in Las Vegas with more locations and events planned.
