The World Series of Poker Circuit has signed a deal with US TV network VERSUS to air a number of its events beginning in June of next year.

The deal marks VERSUS' first foray into poker programming, but the crew producing the shows is a veteran outfit.

Poker Productions, which already produces coverage of the World Series of Poker Europe, NBC's National Heads Up Championship and the popular cash-game show High Stakes Poker and will take the reigns.

“We are very excited to present coverage of the World Series of Poker Circuit tour to a national audience of more than 75 million U.S. homes,” said Jeff Goldberg, Vice President of Programming for VERSUS. “The WSOP tour is one of the most successful in the business and we knew it was a great opportunity for our first venture into poker tournament coverage.”

The telecasts will feature two hours of play from select WSOPC events and the $1 million WSOP Circuit National Championship from Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The WSOPC itself is a 13-stop tour now in its seventh season. Points are amassed for in-the-money finishes and those earning the most points, winning an event or placing at the final table of select events automatically gain entry into the National Championship set for May 27-29 – just days before the start of the 42nd annual World Series of Poker.

“This is a big milestone for the industry,” said WSOP Vice President Ty Stewart. “We’re thrilled that one of the premier all-sports networks has recognized the brand power of the WSOP and decided to take the plunge into broadcasting our game."

The full broadcast schedule has yet to be announced.
